  1. The service isn't great, especially when Duff's in the side, but it's his movement is the bigger problem in my opinion. He doesn't do enough in the box. Milner's been superb all season and he's been very creative. But he's tired and is crying out for a rest. Very, very daft that he didn't get one last night. He was shite last Wednesday and wasn't great last night - it's plainly obvious that he needs a rest. Would be smashing to see Martins get that record. Would rather just see him score 25 goals though, a la Ferdinand.

Anyone who wants to drop Taylor in his form is off their rocker tbh. Bramble's had two good games. Taylor's had a good season, on the whole. Started slowly - not poorly - but has really got going. He's in fine form. Bramble, yes so is he, but consider the opposition. They had one fit out and out striker in the entire squad (squad of part-timers btw), and he didn't even start at St James' Park. And i don't think Tayls was any worse than Bramble over the two legs. Taylor and Gooch. For sure.

Hopefully he will get dropped, so as not to halt Taylor's good form and superb progress, and so as not to stop Gooch from adapting. We've seen this millions of times from Bramble... 3 or 4 blinding performances, then 10 bad ones. I'm not falling for it.
  4. Aye, NSG's right - they packed the defense and it would be right to save our strength for Wigan. But we simply showed very little desire to penetrate them. The amount of sideways and backwards passes nullified the game into sheer dullness. And the thing is, little sideways passes like that in your own half only invites pressure, and we've been caught out a few times over the two legs. It's just God awful to watch. Especially against opponents like this where you know you could just hammer them if you really wanted to.
  5. The Quarter Final/Semi Final is a completely new draw, if we overcome Alkmaar.
  6. Just looking at it again, it really was expertly finished by Oba. That's what he does you see. It's just what he does. He can have a throughly shite game, yet come out with the winning goal. He's a matchwinner - and we've really missed that. If you discount Owen's 'spell' in the side, we haven't had an out and out matchwinner since Shearer, pre-2005ish.
  7. PSG are a lot about nothing nowadays tbh. Absolute shadow and less than what they were a few years ago. Doing shockingly in Ligue 1 aswell.
  8. If you're talking to me here, then i again must go back to my original comment. I never actually said he did abysmally bad tonight, i said later that he didn't do great and was uncompareable to Butt, however - my initial statement was a general overview of Pattison. I haven't watched any reserve matches whatsoever, which is why i won't comment (in-depth atleast) on any regular reserve players. Pattison however, has established himself as a regular squad player and has made lots of appearances, including 3 (?) starts. And i honestly cannot see what makes anyone think that he is good enough. I don't suppose many do think so, but it's a point worth making.
  9. On the basis of this season i said. As for the bandwagon. I see one person jumping on his back, and i wasn't even doing it on tonight's performance especially. I see absolutely nothing, over the entire season, that encourages me into thinking that he'll be a decent player for us. He doesn't appear to have the, or any required, ability. Now who's stoopid.
  10. Iam sure i seen Butt passed the armband onto Solano!:? Aye and Nobby passed it on to Harper i believe. Might have been Taylor, not sure, but he definitely passed it 'back'.
  11. No, he didn't let us down tonight, but i don't think he was great. HOWEVER, going back to my original comment. It was a comment in general - he doesn't seem to have the required ability to make it for us, or any other Premiership team. No pace, no power, no shooting ability, can't head, can't pick out a pass, and as we've found out tonight... can't tackle. All of this having seen him a few times this season. I don't understand why he's making it into the squad.
  12. Stunned that CSKA went out. Said it before and i'll say it again... watch out for Espanyol.
  13. Desperately needs a rest tbh. Was surprised (yeah right) and slightly disappointed that he wasn't rested. He was crap last week and not much better tonight, and it's not as if he's going to get a chance of a rest for a while yet... I hope he doesn't deteriorate. Strengths are: Good shot, can beat his man, can put a ball in the box. All round winger really with a long way to go... a bit slow though.
  14. Was as good as Nicky Butt tonight. Just sat back and protected the defence and kept it simple. Absolute bollocks. Butt was one of our best players before he went off, infact our only good one after Bramble. But actually knew how to pass it forward and played 3 or 4 absolute peahes out to the wings. As weird as it sounds, Butt was actually one of our more attacking palyers before he was withdrawn. He actually wanted the ball to go forward. Pattison, on the other hand, could pass the ball no more than a meter, and always backwards - and he was slow and his attempt at that tackle was diabolical. To say he was on par with Butt is madness.
  15. Antwerp 0-5 Newcastle United Newcastle United 5-2 Antwerp
  16. Can pass the ball well and battles but did he pass the ball forward at all? Does his attempted tackle on Matthys count there? Which, by the way, was quite hilariously bad. And no, he didn't pass the ball forward. He barely passed it.
  17. One of the most negative performances i have seen in absolutely ages. We didn't want to score.
  18. By the way... what in God's name possesses Roeder to put Pattison in the squad? He appears to have absolutely no ability whatseoever.
  19. Job 'done' but... God that was shite. I'm sorry, but 1-0 at HOME to a team who is filled with part time shoe makers and fence makers, playing their RESERVE side... is dismal as fuck. Smashin goal, but i can think of only one good player tonight, and that was Titus. Everyone else was absolute crap.
  20. Bloody hell. That was a cracking game. AZ will be VERY hard.
  21. Why? Are they presenting it at the end of the season or something instead now? Not entirely sure tbh. I can imagine they'll want to present it when the stadium's full. Just a guess.
