  1. ''Quite possibly Oh-Park one but the time to judge that is not now..'' Chix My judgement is instantaneous and few escape the consequences. tongue.gif
  2. In that case in our perilous one striker situation surely it would have been wiser to by someone who is used to the PL?
  3. He looks like the type to get 10-12 goals a season, the way he snatched at a couple of chances on Sunday shows two things: obviously a lack of composure (doesn't have the deadly gift of an Owen or Van Horse), but it also reveals a desperation to do well as soon as possible and he is acutely aware that all eyes are on him. I would have absolutely no grumbles about him if we had spent say 5m on him and also bought another forward or defender. Part of his problem is that we have spent nearly all out remaining money on him and this has increased the pressure on him, this isn't a good thing for a striker to feel every time he goes onto the pitch. On the downside I said very early doors he will fail (ie not a 15-20 goal a season man) and I haven't seen anything to change that. I do hope he can prove me wrong.
  4. Will Shearer have his coaching badges by next summer?
  5. I try and keep them entertaining you see.
  6. All I ask for is a modicum of sanity in SOME of our transfer dealings. Is that too much to ask?? bluesigh.gif
  7. There is no excuse for not shoring up the defence in the summer and it will be this I feel above everything else that brings the axe down on his heed.
  8. Just wondered how people are feeling now we are a few games in??

    Obafemi Martins

"Providing we don't expect too much, he'll be okay for us." Bobyule. Expect a bit more after all the hype and the money spent really. Has it really come to this already with Oba?

    Obafemi Martins

I said he was a wrongun from day one. Anelka is 10 times the player and would have cost £3m less.
  11. Teams ahead of us now are: The top 4.. and Spurs West Ham maybe even Pompey.. bluebigeek.gif
  12. Sensible words S9. Badly need a def tbh. bluecry.gif
  13. The failure of the Hitzfeld campaign. tongue.gif
  14. Sometimes I think he's doing it on purpose to get a move away. I mean he was never this bad...You have to ask yourself why we aren't starting to see the best of him?
  15. Not enough research and aforethought on the Luque buy really.

    The Board etc. etc.

Football is a very fickle business and the buying and selling of players is often a lottery regardless of reputation. You can only put stops and checks in place to make the business as successful as it possibly can. Although with the high amount of generated income footabll is almost guranteed now, this is a very fertile time to grow the business and descisions made now will be very important for the club in the coming years.
  17. He was never a striker. For the short period he played (more or less upfront) at Depor he was the 99th best striker in Europe. He is more rotating forward type. Or perhaps a divider in the classic Dutch mould like a Sneidjer. He doesn't really have the attributes to be a front man in the PL imo.
  18. It seems to have escaped everyone's attention and as much I hate to be the bringer of even worse news....Nocluque has never played in a 442 in his life.
  19. "My impression of Roeder as a man-manager and tactician is positive at this point, not just because of the results he got last year, but also because he seems to do a very good job communicating with the players about their roles. I was amazed by the lack of complaining coming from Luque last year (can you imagine how loud Robert or Bellamy would have been whining), especially considering that it was a World Cup year and his lack of first team action cost him a place on Spain's WC squad." ST This is his strongest suite. He has been v good at getting the players to understand what is needed in differrent situations. Although I'm not totally won over regarding his tactical depth.
  20. It's one that has me perplexed and I often change my stance. I might read summat by West Ham fans or an article and think we are in big trouble or see that Venables has been v positive about Roeders future and immediately change my mind. Also the way he interviews reminds me of an insurance salesman, all calm and short sentences. I wonder how in hell he is going to motivate 'the big players'. But of course we have to remind ourselves what he did at the end of last year, with his adjustments of the defence and his tinkering on how the midfield worked that made it more cohesive. The change in Shola since he took over is another perplexing development, scoring one in two goals per game. People say it is just because he is playing in his natural position, but I suspect there is more to it than that. Roeder understands that he is on the brink of greatness if he gets things right and has a little bit of luck. After the tumor no one can say that luck isn't on his side.
