  1. "I feel sorry for Roeder, who in the circumstances has done a good job since taking over. But he hasn't the power base within the club to make the impact that is needed." Bobby Agree. With the honeymoon well and truly over, this summer was the rubicon for Glen and we all waited to see how he would shape the side. He has failed to strengthen the key areas (apart from the fact we needed another striker). And he doesn't have the ideation or vision to make the next step.
  2. "Every single top manager - whether it be Mourinho, Ferguson or whoever - has had to go through the transition that you're talking about there. There's no guarantees, but there's no better indication of a person's ability to handle a big club than their ability to handle a smaller club beforehand." Bobyule. Saved you a post Bobby. bluebigrazz.gif
  3. ''If Freddie is smart he should be having contacts with him already but some how i doubt it.'' Chip. I wouldn't be so sure about that. bluewink.gif
  4. Talking shit while Rome burns tbh. Why wouldn't you want him apart from the fact that you think one of our most gifted coaches (in your opinion) spent too long at one club. I happen to think that kind of loyalty is an asset and a sign of his dedication and need to get a job done. Which he did. That is why the FA interviewed him.
  5. Look you spent all yesterday pointing out how difficult it would be for us to attract a big name coach. I am making a case for a sensible and I feel gettable manager.
  6. That is just pure suposition Vic. His coaching credentials are not in doubt.
  7. He really had been there too long and knew he had taken that set up as far as it could go imho. http://www.cafc.co.uk/AlanCurbishley.ink
  8. Agree HTL. Right now at this moment we need to focus on getting a solid, hard working coach in who can start to make a difference to this aimless shambles.
  9. "If there is one team worse than us this season its Charlton, who i think are destined to do down with Dowie." TT Hightlights the work Curbs was doing there and I think people have seriously understimated how much weaker Charlton are without him.
  10. 2J I really want to keep this thread to managers we have a realistic chance of getting and who aren't tied down at other clubs.
  11. I've got some doubts as to Svens ability to 'work' with the players. He spent over €100m at Lazio and seems more of a star obsessed manager, something we could do without at this point.
  12. My feelings about Curbs is that he is a dwon to earth coaching based manager who loves to work with the players. I don't think pressure will be a problem for him. He is a strong communicator and has good 'in match tactical fixes'. People underrated him cause he hasn't had the big job. He is 10 times the manager McClaren is and look where he ended up. Ericksson is a little too cautious for us I feel. Could be wrong. Also an added bonus is that players like Zoggy and Taylor will gain immensely from working with Curbishley week in week out.
  13. "Since the Addicks returned to the Premiership, Curbishley has made them a force to be reckoned with. No longer favourites for relegation, the club can now be considered as an established side in the upper echelon on English football. That is down to Curbishley, and the way he has moulded a group of players without any real star names into an effective unit. Curbishley always seems to be linked with a move to a bigger club, and his name was mentioned in conjunction with the vacant jobs at former clubs West Ham United in the summer of 2001 and then Aston Villa when John Gregory had walked. The manager stayed loyal, although he must surely look for a new challenge in the not too distant future." Kevin Keegan tipped Curbishley as a future England manager, and it was after his resignation that Curbs was asked to help out with the England set-up prior to Sven Goran Eriksson's appointment. I have rated him for a long time and making Charlton into a solid PL outfit from perenial relegation candidates is no mean feat, especially with very little money and no star names.
  14. See if we can get a few more votes logged on this one after today.
  15. People interested in lending moral and logistical support to the campaign should register on TFN's site and get the debate moving. blueyes.gif
  16. Anelka did a lot of his big stuff when he was only a couple of years older than Martin.
  17. Anelka will score more goals in his sleep. Take a look at his Man City record when they were mid-table/relegation flirters. blueyes.gif
  18. Kurhsad, You sir are absolutely right. The kids on here are clueless about Anelka. bluebiggrin.gif
  19. Defoe!! Have you been drinking Mr GeeJarn?? bluedead.gif
  20. The more I think about Martins especially after seeing Anelka play a full game the more I worry. He seems to snatch at things and has no awareness of what is happenning around him.
  21. Looking forward to this I must say.
  22. It's not about players, the training ground, the manager or facilities...it's about vision, someone needs to take this club by the scruff and impart clarity of ideas.
