  1. Walking away with no profit, i doubt either will do it. They'd rather let the club sink. They really, really don't want to walk away with no profit, but they sure as fuck wouldn't let the club sink, because the selling price has to cover their debts, otherwise it will cost them (and they're not doing well financially). It would be fucked up if they owned the club, but the strings are currently being pulled by the bank with whose money they bought the club. The only reason the Yanks are still in the picture is that the bank really, really doesn't want to own a football club. Of course, no-one is likely to buy the club before deadline day, because the Yanks are after a profit, and are asking far more for the club than the bank will be in a couple of weeks. IMO, our main hope is that the FA/EPL see the case differently to the Southampton one. The key difference is that LFC is solvent and profitable as an entity (separate from the holding company, which holds massive debts from buying the club), whereas Southampton + holding were one big sack of red numbers. Beyond that, the hope is that on-the-pitch form will pick up once all the corporate-level crap is sorted out. Of course it's all up in the air regarding our future owners. The bank will not be choosy. We could end up with even bigger cunts.

  3. They will find a buyer no problem. Yeah huge debt, decrepid old ground and a global economy slump biggs is right. again the naivety of liverpool fans thinking they are a much bigger club than what they are. i see nee f***er came in for leeds despite their glorious past. hold on, they've won the european cup 5 times and the English top flight more times than anyone else (joint with manyoo iirc) - what the f*** else do they have to do to be considered "big" in your world like? what are Barcelona to you, middle of the road club or something? Having a successful past doesn't make you a big club now. Because we could claim to be a biggish club on the fact we have 11 major honours in our history. Well pointed out Depends what you mean by past. In the last 10 years, we've won 2 League Cups, 2 FA Cups, 2 Super Cups, 1 UEFA Cup and 1 CL. Not a terrible record. We're hardly reliving the glory days, but on the other hand, which was the last club in Europe that came even close to 4 European Cups and 6 league titles in 7 years? Supporters of English clubs also tend to underestimate the importance of European success with regards to profile. AC Milan would be the best comparison: we played them in two CL finals, and like Rafa's LFC, they were largely league also-rans but a CL powerhouse. How you saw Ancelotti's Milan is how the rest of Europe saw Liverpool. They saw us beat Barcelona in Barcelona, tear Real to shreds, and Istanbul. Not our games against Bolton and Traore's OG against Burnley. Well, actually they probably did see that, because it's got half a million views on YouTube Don't blame it on the Hamann, Don't blame it on the Biscan, Don't blame it on the Finnan, Blame it on Traore! He just can't... He just can't... He just can't control his feet.
  4. You're not really paying any attention, are you?
  5. They will find a buyer no problem.
  6. In football these things go in cycles, I think barring the appearance of a mega wealthy owner, Liverpool are fucked for a decade while they convert to a low debt busniness model. I never thought I'd say this 24 months ago, but I can honestly see us overtaking Liverpool's position in the Premier within a couple of years. Think RBOS will take it over in Oct. But will they get fined points and will it be called administration? It should be, but I have a feeling Liv will get protection from the Fa. It depends on the exact rules and the exact structure of the the debt. My understanding is that the debt is owed by LFC's owner, the holding company, as the LFC board repeatedly rejected attempts to move the debt onto the club's books. If this is the case, perhaps just the holding must declare bankruptcy, not LFC itself. I don't know enough about the situation or the rules to say whether that would help us avoid a point penalty. I really can't see anyone coming in with a bid before the Yanks default, though. They'd have to pay quite a premium.
  7. But it took Hodgson decades to achieve any kind of domestic recognition, and he'd still never be considered by one of the "big" clubs. English clubs' directors are mostly incredibly narrow-minded. You can be sure as shit that Ferguson would never have been offered the Man Utd job today.
  8. I think the brand will live on, a bit like how our support has stayed strong even though we've been s**** for too many years and even suffered through relegation. As long as there are fans worldwide new players will respect the club and see it as a chance to help wake a sleeping giant...a bit like a lot of players have said about us over the years. Problem for them is now, there really is no sight of an end, or a way to pick up, if Woy fails they really are fuked beyond anything i've seen in my lifetime for them. Liverpool fans think 7th is a disaster, what if they don't qualify for Europe at all or even finish outside the top ten? What would the numbers be like, what kind of support would the receive? Keep paying Torres and Gerrard £12m a year between then alone while not producing and its only a matter of time before they collapse financially. It happened to us, huge wage bill and under achieving, we had a CL wage bill with barely Euro cup positioning, Liverpool have a title challenging wage bill and can't compete to get themselves back in to CL. However long it takes it will catch up to them, and the owners are in no position to bail them out. I know you are looking even further beyond that, but right now these next two seasons are crucial, about as crucial as us staying up, possibly more as I'd think there is easily a way back in to the league for us, for Liverpool to get back in the CL with Citeh buying their way to the title, Chelsea miles ahead and fully financially loaded and Arsenal set up for the future and Manu a club which will never fully die, it will be some achievement and this year is their best shot as the year after it will be harder and the year after probably impossible, and so on. This part is spot on With Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelski, Man City, Spurs (possibly Everton- if they get their act together) ahead of them at the moment, they are realistically playing for a Europa League spot this season The likes of Gerrard and Torres will not be happy without CL football for the forseeable future and will be forming an orderly queue at the exit door. On a side note the selling price for Gerrard is only going to go down now - over 30 - so they will have to cash in soon if they want to buy a suitable replacement. This could well be the start of an irreversable slide for LFC, who knows when or were it will end? I think "irreversible slide" is a bit over the top. It was like this under Roy Evans, but it wasn't the end. The main thing is we get new, and decent owners as soon as possible, and get the Yanks' debt off our books. To be able to compete with Man Utd and Arsenal, we have to get a new stadium built. UEFA's new financial rules should piss on Chelsea's and Man City's bonfire. In football these things go in cycles, I think barring the appearance of a mega wealthy owner, Liverpool are fucked for a decade while they convert to a low debt busniness model. Why are we fucked for a decade? The debt wasn't run up by the club, but the owners' buying it. Before they showed up, LFC's debt was low, and the club was profitable. The club will be sold soon (hopefully), and the debt cleared. Unless the new owner does exactly the same thing
  9. Booed and cheered. Why was Anfield not sold out for this game? Dunno. You would have expected it, like.
  10. But then how does one "do better" than winning the treble? Win the treble standing on one foot?
  11. From the FT: China's CIC denies interest in Liverpool FC A spokesperson for China Investment Corp, the country’s main sovereign wealth fund, told the Financial Times they had never heard of a plan to buy Liverpool FC or of Kenneth Huang, the man widely reported to be fronting a Chinese bid to buy the English Premier League club. The shares you are talking about were Morgan Stanley and supposedly sold by CIC. That's the one. Should've Googled it again before posting, really
  12. Well, Kenny Huang (the Chinese in question) has just sold shares (in Merril Lynch I think) of the precise value of LFC's loans, which is a pretty strong indication that he's making a bid.
  13. I am certain there will be no bids at £800m, that kind of venture captital just isn't out there. Even the super rich are feeling the pinch. That's not the point. It's up to the bank--not the Yanks--who gets the club, and the bank will only get to keep the first £350m of the offer, which covers the loans. Any surplus goes to the Yanks. The bank won't mess around holding out for a better offer. The only chance of the club going for much over that is if the Yanks can find a serious bidder willing to pay more. The bank will go for the first cash offer it gets that covers the loans, and the Yanks will have a very short time to demonstrate they have a serious bidder willing to pay cash straight away.
  14. This debt everyone keeps talking about isn't Liverpool's debt. It is the loans taken out by the Yanks to buy the club. Any asking price covers first and foremost repaying those loans to the bank (which is effectively the club's owner now). The £800m price is horseshit, being bandied around by the Yanks, who are worried they might not make any profit out of the deal. Bigging up the price and trying to instigate a bidding war is their attempt to line their pockets.
  15. Aye, but do you have the players fit enough (and injury free) to cope with Roy's pretty constant starting 11 philosophy? All good and well starting the season strong, but if you're shattered with a good quarter still to go, you'll soon drop down the table. You mean like every other team? Take a step back, boy, and make the effort to apply the same standards to everyone.
  16. I see us starting this season much better than in previous seasons, where Rafa's rotation has left us way off the pace by the time the squad is up to speed. Even if we don't finish as strongly as under Rafa (barring last season), I reckon it will have a positive effect on the side. Hopefully, top 4, but it's touch and go.
  17. I think this is the one: http://www.bbc.co.uk/podcasts/series/wf
  18. Is that some Spanish sign of affection or is he simply a huge tosspot?
  19. You know he would go and belt in a 30 yarder It'd be his first ever, I reckon.
  20. Absolutely. Only reason Man Utd's Howard Webb didn't send him straight off is because he didn't want to ruin the final like the ref who sent off Lehmann in the CL 2006 final. Still, he ended up making a rod for his own back, because he couldn't send off Iniesta then, either.
