I wish he knew how to set us up to soak up pressure and counter attack. Other than Ben Arfa's goal against Bolton where he singlehandedly beat their whole team, when was the last time we've scored on a counter? West Brom away ? My memory is a bit foggy on that one. Its just infuriating how slow we are when transitioning from defence to attack, which is a point a few of us have made before.

Hope Benitez will Pardew their team into losing this somehow.

Lambert won the tactical changes hands down....he still didn't win from behind either. And we survived by the skin of our teeth. What's the point you're trying to make?

Better passing and first touch <_< Haven't seen any of those qualities from Obertan yet, but ok.

So why can't Pardew change game's at HT then as clearly proven by the stats? Why can't he counteract to when the opposition make changes? why would he change things at half time in a game we're dominating? He didn't his team talk was " more of that". Lambert changed things because he had to. Pardew struggled to come up with an answer to their changes....but the best alternative I have heard is Sammy Ameobi would have made all the difference. Clearly that is bollocks. He could have tucked Sissoko into DM to help Perch, subbed Jonas for Anita and play him on the flanks to help Debuchy out with Agbanlahor if need be, why the hell would bringing Sammy on be the best alternative (who suggested that anyway)? There were a number of alternatives that would make more sense the subs he made, which only caused us to lose any semblance of shape we had and bring Villa on us even more.

Its funny how much the posters on villatalk hate Lambert (worst manager in the league, etc etc). While I'm not sure I'd want him to manage us you could at least count on him to be better than Pardiola here.

I thought it was a decent cross with good pace at a good angle, fairly fortunate with the bounce though.

They've played 2 more games since we player, why can't we throw the kitchen sink against teams like Reading for example??? We kind of did, but it was like throwing the sink when we could have taken out the assault rifles instead.

In front of the back four it looked. I think everyone was just trying to fill space at that point, it was chaos. It was schoolboy-like, when one team is massively better than the other and the weaker team desperately tries to defend by packing the box to the brim - which doesn't usually work.

Nah, Marveaux is still comfortably a better player than Gouffran, in midfield at least.

He was out wide first half too...when we dominated the game, took a 2 goal lead and Cisse himself was one of the scorers. Must have been watching a different game to me, mate. Did we not dominate the first half? We did. Cisse played as the central striker first half though. Aye. Went out wide when Shola came on. So he played wide for 20 minutes.....20 minutes where we had one man in their half most the time anyway. Tactical blunder to be sacked for...after a win. Right. If that was the only blunder he made it may have been forgivable. Can't disagree with either of the new 2 going off after barely being involved second half, or that the other new lad came on. So the complaints are Perch came off or Shola/Anita came on. There was no-one else on the bench I particularly fancied coming on. You wanted Jonas to stay? Sissoko was barely involved in the second half? Shola coming on was pretty horrible as well, and despite not being involved Gouffran and Sissoko to an extent were the only pacy outlets we had.

Very rarely is anyone 100% responsible for anything. But when you're manager consistently causes your team as many problems as possible it certainly doesn't fucking help! Reminds me of the manager I had for our college team, who knew practically nothing about football and rarely attended trainings. Probably would have done something similar if he was in charge of NUFC instead of Pards.

Most of you will wake up tomorrow and remember that we won. I have a whole day to be angry at the utter toss that Pardew served up.
-
Shola on wouldn't have been so bad if it was for Jonas, or at least to partner Cisse in a 4-4-2. But no, Cisse gets shunted out to the wing
-
Our established players did what?
-
Really? His substitutions were mind boggling. Not at all, there was genuine reason behind them, just not his fault that we are so brittle we treat the ball like a hot potato when under a little bit of pressure. Shola Turned out to be completely useless at the only thing he normally does well... I wouldn't have taken gouffran off, jonas would have gone if I were the manager, but well... Shola literally had to hold off the entire Aston Villa defence on his own, what was he supposed to do? There's absolutely no point in playing a (lone) target man when you're trying to counter.
-
Should start upfront with Cisse.
-
I think we would have been better off if he just didn't make any.
-
Tbf, not his fault.
-
I do think that we've underrated Villa somewhat, even in the first half they were pretty good at getting the ball to their strikers and supporting them despite our dominance. Nevertheless, please sack the cunt now, pretty please? We're still short of one January signing - a new manager.
-
You think? ASAP meaning what, the next decade or century?
-
We only tried for 45 minutes, sadly. Subs were to make sure we didn't lose our composure in hoofing it. Good lord, those subs weren't just negative, they were completely nonsensical and self-destructive. If we still had Alan Smith on the bench he would have played too.
