  9. SAM Allardyce is confident that the Steven Taylor contract situation will be resolved sooner rather than later after admitting the player had rejected the club's latest offer. The United boss is keen to keep the 21-year-old at St.James' Park, with Taylor himself also extremely happy on Tyneside. And Big Sam said: "The situation is very simple in that Steven has rejected our latest offer. "But Steven is a key member of our squad. "We want him to stay, apparently it sounds like he wants to stay, so hopefully we can resolve the problems. "At the moment, we seem to be some way off, but we won't get sucked into paying somebody that we think is asking for too much. "We want to give it a realistic look, and we have already started that process with the likes of Charles N'Zogbia, to push on to Nicky Butt and people like that who are in the last year of their contracts. "That's the next thing we have to do now that the window is shut. Hopefully very shortly, everybody will have agreed and we will have a much more settled camp. "From my point of view, it's always a little bit disturbing when people are talking about contracts while you are playing Premier League football. "It can upset the player on the field, and that's the last thing we want."

  16. Yeah, like on Saturday, February 10, 2007? One mistake, on one occasion.. Yeah, he must be the worst keeper ever or "Im also not too convinced on Reina. Remember the mistake he made against Birmingham when he spilled the ball for Padiani to score. ..." "Then keeper Pepe Reina - who had made two glaring errors during the match" FA Cup Final "Reina, who had anticipated the cross, could only palm it into the net. Things could've got a lot worse" "The second goal came from Reina's mistake" "Another Deco free-kick and another Pepe Reina mistake. What has happened to the Liverpool number one? He is all over the shop and misses that delivery ..." "A Pepe Reina mistake gifts Zamora the first" "I say it very clear, Reina has made a mistake and doesn't need to touch him. Robben was talking to him and provoking him, so he turns and touches his face" "Poll: Is the Johnson derby goal (Reina mistake) classed as a good goal?" "But another Reina mistake saw..." "That is normal with keepers. It is just a mistake and my confidence is fine" "Reina did have one scare..."

  19. Northern Ireland's (former Newcastle star) Keith Gillespie and (former Sunderland player) George McCartney were involved in a fight on an aeroplane before it flew the team from Iceland to London. The altercation came after a verbal exchange and punches were thrown before other players were forced to intervene. Cabin crew staff reported the incident to Northern Ireland manager Nigel Worthington before the flight took off. The Irish Football Association plans to take action following the incident that came hours after a Euro 2008 qualifier. "An incident occurred today between team members of the senior Northern Ireland squad of which the president (Raymond Kennedy) and chief executive (Howard Wells) are aware of," said an IFA statement. "Both the president and the chief executive will investigate the situation and take appropriate action." Northern Ireland's hopes of making the Euro 2008 finals are fading after Gillespie's late own goal gave Iceland a 2-1 victory in Reykjavik. The Sheffield United winger made his international debut in 1994 and scored twice in 78 appearances. West Ham defender McCartney, who ended a 26-month exile when Worthington took over from Lawrie Sanchez, won his 25th cap in Wednesday night's Group F game.
