The game after Carroll left was one of the worst in recent seasons in a spineless display against fulham, we then went 4-0 down to Arsenal, and somehow came back. Pardew openly admitted that in both of them games the players were down after Carroll had left. Last summer despite not replacing Carroll directly, the squad was well strengthened. Again the POINT being that people made the same ambition argument and nothing bad happened last season. Best to walk away from you, clearly on a wind up I am saying that we showed enough ambition in the signings we made last summer, this summer have handing out new contracts to Colo and Krul as well as the signing of Cisse in January, we have failed to show ambition. You can't comare the two summers anyway, last summer we had no real hopes of achieving anything, this summer we had a real chance to push on for the top 4 and a good run in europe. Please just stop ffs Great argument. There wasnt a need for one, you are acting like Ashley has kidnapped their kids not failed to add a few players. What an absolute load of rubbish. Why? We're playing Aston Villa who aren't having the best of time themselves. We have more than enough quality in our first 11 to finish them off and we will. Stop being so negative man. We do have enough quality, but there have been no signs of it so far, i just think there will be a negative feeling around the place come sunday. Getting sick of reading this now. We've had since February. Right. All that means is that the reason isn't lack of time. "If you can't do your business in the summer, then I don't know why because there is plenty of time." I don't know why you posted that quote, or who it's from. It's from Pardew.

Shola would be the one player in the squad who will be happy with the window, he is now somehow our 3rd choice striker.

If you're arguing that Anita isn't as good as Guthrie you might be onto a loser there man. I'm saying he has to prove it, if you think he doesn't then your wrong. Well he's been a regular for Ajax, one of the biggest clubs in Europe. Danny Guthrie is a 'decent squad player' but he never had any potential beyond that. I just don't see how Anita v Guthrie can add anything to your argument, if you're trying to prove our midfield is worse than before. At this moment in time it is worse, because we don't know how Anita will settle or play for us. We knew we could rely on Guthrie, Anita may well flop.
