  1. Jenas and Woodgate definately out apparantly - not travelled.  :D

Heres hoping King, Modric and Lennon all fail fitness tests.

    Stop Press!

Jonathan Woodgate will not be fit to play in tomorrow's game. Neither he nor Jermaine Jenas made the squad, which will disappoint them on more thaan one front, bearing in mind they both played for Newcastle in the past. Better news though comes in the shape of the fact that Ledley King, Luka Modric and Aaron Lennon have all travelled to St' James' Park.

  2. Very interesting little segment on soccer Saturday with Kinnear. Talking about the work he has done over the last few years, and apparently he has been watching players all over the world for different clubs. Talked about spending a month in Argentina doing this just before joining us, also mentioned being in Chile etc.

Can only bode well for us in the transfer market in the future.

Tried to Google JFK's Wimbledon signing record and could not find any comprehensive list of the transfers. Some articles claim he was good at picking up unknowns and this could be another of his plus points to MA given that he is not prepared to spend much on us anymore. Just enough to keep things going ....Does anyone have JFK's list of transfers done in his Wombles or other Managerial roles?

  3. The fact that he could deck them all would probably help as well.

he'd need some ladders to chin ronaldo and berbatov. being a dirty player doesnt equal being hard.

Totally agree. Today's modern player does not respond to bully tactics. They will simply hand in a transfer request. Besides, is Keane really that tough physically or just mental without being able to control himself?

Acting tough is not the same as real hard

  4. I don't see why so many people rate this guy on here, you don't need to be an expert in football to spot two current Argentinean Internationals!! It's not like they've gone and got someone like Zaki who is much less known. The jury is well and truly out on the other buys! Also who ever was responsible for player recruitment wants shooting for not getting in another central midfielder!!

Also goes to show in my opinion the power of spin in our society today! Ashley comes out with this visionary structure when in truth it's no different to Fat Fred's relationship with Paul Stretford the agent who also has extensive contacts throughout the football world! Maybe Fat Fred should have just given Stretford a more fancy title!

Well said. Its all about branding, these days

  5. Its easy to say sign him up now but if we had signed him before the start of the season, I'm sure many would have shouted this transfer down as he is not a "known" name and the usual s**** of "not good enough" would have come up.

We seem obsessed with signing big names when there are so many gems around, unfortunately, not many have been spotted by us.

Credit to Bruce and his team for picking up so many gems and easing them into the English game

Pointless, since we have seen him now, can make a judgement and can still make a bid.

    Nobody complained about Bassong fwiw.

We can bid all we want. Will Zaki even want to consider us ???

  7. ? i thought we had already given it to frank clarke due to his knowledge of the area.

Didn't big Joe give a hint that its an ex player who's into media work? Can it be SuperMac himself? :crazy2:

  8. for f***s sake u call ureself fans, this guy is from the city, we should support him and hopefully he will score to silence you supposed supporters, how the f*** is the team meant to regain confidence if this is what happens when someone is selected.

    I couldn't give a f*** if I was related to him. He's s***!

Shola needs an arm around him (not around his neck) rather than a kick up the arse type of player. Keegan obviously did not believe in him and this showed. Since we don't have much of a choice anyway and haven't been winning games, let's see if this new found confidence in him by JK will pay off

  9. FOR f***s SAKE GIVE UP ON KEEGAN LEAVE HIM THE f*** ALONE HE HAS NOT SAID A WORD SINCE HE LEFT OR EVEN APOLOGISED TO THE FANS FFS YOU ARE LIKE BATTERED WIVES!?!??!

Good, he hasn't spoken since he left. That keeps me hoping that he's waiting in the wings to return. If he doesn't want the job back, then why wouldn't he come out and say as much? He reads the papers/ watches tele linking him with a return, so why doesn't he quash any unfounded rumours? If they are unfounded of course. I may hold false hope, but still i hope.

If there was a queue of decent managers wanting the job, then i may think we should appoint one. It doesn't seem like there is, so for me, you simply have to offer him the job back.

Why should Keegan respond to nonsensical articles anyway. Anything he say will be misconstrued by the Press and Public and it will only add fuel to the fire.

Besides, by not commenting publicly, he is also keeping his options open.

Not to mention there is the small matter of potential legal battle coming up with MA over compensation.

  10. http://www.forbes.com/lists/2008/10/billionaires08_Alexei-Mordashov_QW68.html

    Updated list of Forbes' billionaires;

He's worth $21.2 billion; 18th richest in the world, and surely the richest man ever to live in Newcastle??

Sounds like a canny solution to our current predicament...

Very encouraging to see him sending his management team to be schooled in Newcastle. Buying Newcastle will only aid their understanding of the western world and how dependent it is on the new economic powers that is no longer centered in US or Western Europe. This is the real world now and the foreign ownership of so many Premiership clubs reflect this reality.

Wasn't there some recent article that quoted Shepard as saying we may have our own Geordie Abramovich?  So perhaps Alexei was the one he was referring to.

  11. christ no, i'd give the job to Hughton before i even thought of giving it to Shearer,  big al is the last person i want in charge.

Club is in turmoil. What do we have to loose.

Newcastle isindeed  the "lower league" club now where he can prove himself. We are so poorly managed and organized, there is no better time for him to sort us out. In fact, based on current state of affairs, we don't even belong to top flight.
