My son is in the same class at school as one of Ananda's right hand men (he is deputy chairman for Astro) so I have told him to ask him some questions today at school lol!

I do know for sure that he was in the UK last week though....

I know this is surreal and sad but follow up on earlier thread ....

Deal's done if my son's friend is to be believed (he is only 9!).

Told my son that 'they' (the Malaysian consortium headed by personnel from Astro) were the highest bidders and he is getting free tickets lol.

Astro BTW is the Malaysian equivalent of Sky - although here they have a monopoly on satellite broadcasting till around 2016 (not sure of exact date)

How would the son have been able to tell his Dad already? School's not out for another hour (?) and I refuse to believe this 9 year old owns a mobile.

Remember this is suppose to be in Malaysia so its 7 hours ahead. Time of posting is 13:47 GMT = 2047 Malaysian time

  2. Lets say Freddy, Yanks and Malaysian.. who do we want?

Yanks or Malaysians, if its that Krishnan bloke then Malaysians.

Asian businesses are generally in better shape than Yanks (lot more downside). So Malaysians for me too and hopefully some stability too

So one of Ananda's right hand men is a school child? Must be the secret to his business success.

The Deputy Chairman of Astro is listed as a Mr Ralph Marshall (doesnt sound Malaysian but looks Malaysian)

    http://www.astroplc.com/05/corporate/board_directors/

    RALPH MARSHALL

    Executive Deputy Chairman

Malaysian, age 57, joined the Board in July 2003 and was appointed its Deputy Chairman and its Group Chief Executive Officer in August and September 2003 respectively. He has served as a Director of MEASAT Broadcast Network Systems Sdn Bhd since 1994 prior to the commencement of the operations of the Group and was its Chief Executive Officer until May 2006. Ralph is an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and has some 30 years experience in financial and general management. He is also Executive Director of Tanjong Public Ltd Company (listed on Bursa Securities and the London Stock Exchange) which is involved in power generation, gaming and leisure; Non- Executive Director of Maxis Communications Bhd (listed on Bursa Securities), a leading mobile communications provider in Malaysia; and Executive Director of Usaha Tegas Sdn Bhd, which has significant interests in the aforesaid companies. His other directorships include MEASAT Global Bhd (listed on Bursa Securities), which is the owner and operator of the MEASAT satellite system; KLCC Property Holdings Bhd (listed on Bursa Securities), a property investment holding company and Arnhold Holdings Ltd (listed on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong), which is involved in supplying products for the building and construction industry. He does not have any business arrangement with the Company in which he has a personal interest.

So if that ITK is right, Ralph was in UK last week and hopefully the ITK's son will be able to get some info from Ralph's lad...

  6. I find it strange that Krishnan hasn't denied any involvement if all the reports are untrue. I think he is interested, anything else would be very strange.

Why would a billionaire with multiple other top real business concerns respond to reports of this nature. He has been noted to be reclusive and he will likely stay in the background and appoint a representative/s as this investment is not substantial in his books.

  7.

Hull will win - Ferguson will lie down for his big pal Phil (who he recommended for the Derby job and is big chummy mates with). So that's it left to the Mackems to help us. :sadnod:

For all that “big matey” with Phil stuff, isn’t Fergie big mates with SBR too? I know they have a deep respect for each other and given the state of SBR’s health, I’m sure Fergie wouldn’t field a weak team against Hull as relegation for us may just be the last straw that breaks SBR's back and surely Fergie will not want Sir Bobby to suffer the pain of relegation in his final years.

I’m confident the good ole British sense of fair play will prevail and all clubs will play to the best of their abilities. We have left ourselves in this precarious position and its really a bonus we still have a “Get Out of Jail” card due to the ineptness of Makems & Hull. So may the best team win and Que Sera Sera …..

  8. Didn't Dalglish do this job at Celtic? (Badly)

Yes, with John Barnes as manager (also badly)

John Barnes was BAD. Period. Whereas KD had actually won trophies with his other clubs. Unfortunately we were the only club he managed that ended up without any trophy. Typical

Don't think you can blame DoF if the manager is sh**e. He is only there for support / advice.

  9. The original TSM's days were not fondly remembered as he tried to bring in his own players to replace the Entertainers. But you certainly can't knock his record having won titles with 2 different teams. If he is here to share his experience and AS can remain his own man, it may be a good plan after all. AS with his stature, Dowie providing the modern scientific ways of training and TSM for his wealth of knowledge

  10. Believe Dowie was at the ManYoo vs Villa game and saw Fergie take a calculated gamble by throwing in a 17 Year old reserve striker, Macheda, who as per all fairly tales conjured & scored the the winning goal in injury time. We have our very own potential hero in Nile and desperate times call for desperate measures.

Even if Nile doesn't score, for someone with as much cockiness and confidence, it would not do him any harm even if he bombs out during the game. But the upside is immeasurable and I hope our manager with the big cojones bring on Niles.

  11.

Have we really got to the point where fingers are being crossed in the hope of Steve Bruce arriving at the end of the season

Is he really the best NUFC can hope for

      I wouldn't even consider him

Considering our current plight and lack of a clarity on issue of ownership, lack of transfer funds, DOF structure etc...who in your opinion is good enough?

Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear needs heart operation

    Newcastle boss Joe Kinnear

Joe Kinnear has been told by doctors that he needs an emergency heart bypass operation, throwing his future as Newcastle boss into doubt.

The 62-year-old, who had a heart attack ten years ago while managing Wimbledon, is expected to have surgery this week.

Kinnear was taken ill before Newcastle's match at West Bromwich Albion last weekend, and although he wants to return to work the Sun are reporting that doctors want to operate.

Assistant boss Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood are set to take temporary charge.

Kinnear joined Newcastle in September after Kevin Keegan dramatically quit the club, and despite being written off from the start by certain sections of the media he has steadied the ship at the troubled club to a certain extenct.

The Magpies crucially picked up three points at The Hawthorns on Saturday, but are still embroiled in a Premier League relegation battle.

  13. cant believe we weren't in the mix for bullard, surely we could of raised 5 mil (the milner money alone would have sufficed), and regardless of the turmoil we are in we are a much bigger club than hull, so if the player had to choose, then im sure it would have been us, on the other hand, optimistically thinking,  the reason we weren't in for him could be due to the fact we have 'bigger irons in the fire', or are in negotiations with similar players already :idiot2:, hope to christ i am right

Read somewhere it was the wages that killed it. Apparently he wanted 45 or 50k and we are trying to bring the wage bill down.

  14. I think a lot of problems with caretakers is simply that they're not managers. Roeder like many caretakers is a coach, he lacks the charisma and character to be able to inspire players as well as being able to bring them back down to earth. You get similar problems with directors of football who play the role, they're unable to lead.

Kinnear is different to Roeder because he is a manager and Roeder is a coach. The problem lies in the fact that Kinnear is an average manager.

Agree with your point that JFK has a presence about him that Roeder lacked. Whether he is good enough needs to be looked at in other ways :

    1. Are we that attractive to "good" or "great" managers?

    2. What truly differentiates a  great manager from an average one like JFK

    3. We are no longer a big name in football and why do we think we can attract the best?

    4. The fans & stadium have always been cited as reasons why we are still a big name but conversely, the same reasons also put undue pressure on the manager and the team?

    5. With MA in charge, we don't have the clout or funds to buy top players any longer. Why come?

    6. We have been spinning from scandal to internal strife for the longest time, where is the stability for a "good" manager to build his team?

  15. Jenas and Woodgate definately out apparantly - not travelled.  :D

Heres hoping King, Modric and Lennon all fail fitness tests.

    from www.spursodussey.com

    Stop Press!

Jonathan Woodgate will not be fit to play in tomorrow's game. Neither he nor Jermaine Jenas made the squad, which will disappoint them on more thaan one front, bearing in mind they both played for Newcastle in the past. Better news though comes in the shape of the fact that Ledley King, Luka Modric and Aaron Lennon have all travelled to St' James' Park.
