  1. I agree with this. That 20% made some ridiculous arguments mind. I'm not so sure the original statement by Phil is too far wrong (if he was talking about Newcastle fans in general), remember NUFC fans go beyond this board and beyond even the most illeducated football followers. Your great aunt Maude who watches the goals from time to time on look north would say "Oh what a nice young man that Mr Roeder is, surely he deserves to get the job he's done ever so well this season", that kind of attitude was in abundance at the time of his appointment.
  2. I was another that was against it, but I'm not here to say I told you so, the biggest problem may be that FS has already washed his hands of any trouble here by as the Ronny Gil tell us 'giving the fans what they wanted by making Roeder's job permenant". Unfortunately the true criminal here will get away scot free again !
  3. In answer to the thread's title.... Not playing Championship football next year, because that's where we are heading at the moment.

NE5 quote "Glad he's not our manager. Average and over-rated. " NE5 quote "I love FS me, god I think he is so sexy, would love to rub lard all over that gorgeous tummy of his. The bloke can do no wrong in my eyes" I'm sure I could find a post or 2 from you supporting FS's decsion to appoint Roeder, if I could be bothered to look which quite frankly I can't.

See what I mean, anyway back to the point of the BUMP, NE5 talks a load of caca, as if we needed any further proof. MON is a far superior manager to the current incumbent of the hot seat at SJP, a blind man could see that one, but from what I can tell FS seems to have 20/20 vision, so what gives there ?

I can think of more appropriate measures of success, to be honest. I can also think of fans who stand by their teams more through thick and thin and can be bothered to travel to away games to prove it, like West Brom We have very good away support, for what it's worth. I'm still struggling to find the point you are trying to make, though. the chant "Your support is fucking shit" comes to mind! you must be looking forward to picking up the "great support trophy" at the end of the season, then. Oh. Hehe, NE5 should be a politician, he's skilled at taking a question or topic and answering in an absolutely unconnected manner. Don't fall for it ! Do what he does and completely ignore the body of his replies.
  7. There are a lot of ppl on here saying "I told you so" right now, and I am quite happy to admit that I am one of those. A ridiculous appointment in the first place compounding the mistakes made with the last manager. If you believe what the chronicle keeps telling us and the likes of Big Sam and MON were passed over for the 'fans choice', and compare the jobs they are doing at their clubs and it just gets worse. So why did our wonderful chairman appoint this man. Well I think it's a stroke of genius on his part and smacks of self preservation. We were told before hand how Roeder was the fans choice for the job after rescuing us from the evil souness reign, obviously FS was out to make amends by appointing the popular choice after getting it wrong with Souness. It makes him look like he's a supportive chairman by giving the job to a caretaker. He gets a yes man in, whose in no position to kick back at his boss and it doesn't cost him any money in compensation. If and when he needs to sack him he can say, well I gave you what you wanted and can then play his trump card and wheel Shearer out to be saviour of the toon. Win, Win, win situation for him, or so he thinks, when we a spiralling towards relegation and it turns out that Shearer either doesn't want it or isn't as most of us believe really cut out for the job perhaps he'll realise how foolish he has been by then it may be too late.
  8. My father hails from Mallorca and he still lives out there. We often chat on the phone about Luque, he keeps telling me he's very talented but also very lazy, and that's by the island's standards hehe.
  9. Where was he quoted as saying he wanted the NUFC job ?
  10. It's not just Blackburn but also Bolton, they have 3 of the 4 games at home and seem to have regained their form of late. I'll be surprise if we finish 7th, but 8th place is still a great achievement since Souness left.

    Its Roeder

Being a Caretaker Manager is so much different to being a proper manager. The pressure will be on. He will have to do well, he has to get it right or he is out of a job. Trust me Glenn Roeder will be a completely different person and coach if he is hired full time and the football we play will be as well. Our current run is not a sign of things to come. Our current run is like that because the pressure isn't on Roeder, it doesn't matter if he succeeds or not so he can do things whatever way. To say that any professional in any sport doesnt feal pressure is wrong, most pressure comes from fans who loook to destroy you from day 1, Roeder was not my 1st choice but he will have my full support until he proves he doesnt deserve it and all fans should give him the same. Why would Glenn Roeder feel pressure if come next week, he wont be in the job but will be back in the academy with the youngsters. Of course he isn't feeling pressure, he has nothing to prove and has nothing to lose or gain because he is in a temporary position. He's also in a no lose situation, no one expected much and he wouldn't have been blame if things hadn't gone well, it was Souness's mess not his.

    The Final Run In

I think for sure we need to win both games, but I have a feeling that that might not be enough for 6th, 7th could be a tall order too with the fixtures the way they are, having said that if someone had said we'll finish 8th this season a few weeks back I would have been delighted.
