Hodgson might as well have selected Leon Britton tbh. At least he's used to maintaing posession and playing simple passes forward from deep at Swansea.

England had no central midfielders capable of consistently receiving the ball deep (in space), turning and playing the ball forward to a teammates feet. It was incredible to watch.

The number of times Scott Parker would just knock the ball back to a defender immediately after receiving the ball from one, was ludicrous. You can see he's totally unaware of what is around him before he receives the ball. Really poor player in that respect.

Blanc, is he all that? France should have done so much better with that squad, insisting on playing Mexes and Remy together until he literally could not was daft in the extreme, is he that good a manager?

I didn't watch much of Real Madrid if I'm honest.

Based on this tournament he doesn't look very special at all.

Regarding this Sigurdsson thing, didn't Rodgers have him at both Reading and Swansea? Rodgers effectively gave him his big break and has nurtured him very well, and Sigurdsson clearly excels in his system.

Rodgers has since joined a bigger club, and wants him again as a player. Why would you begrudge Sigurdsson this? Yes, he agreed to join Swansea, but he thought Rodgers would still be the manager!

Why would he join a club with a brand new manager who he knows nothing about, and who equally might not know his game as well as Rodgers. Not surprised Laudrup himself doesn't sound that fussed. What does he care? He hasn't been working with him.
