With Gerrard off this midfield is completely incapable of even passing the ball effectively, some of the time.

I really don't rate Gerrard any more. Sad that he's a guaranteed starter and will be playing in a deep role, where he's too forceful and easily frustrated.

Hmmm ... feel sorry for Gerrard actually. Looks to get on the ball and make things happen, but no one is moving into the right kind of areas to receive the ball and then do something intelligent with it.

Even when they do make space to get the ball they then just knock it straight back to Gerrard when he's just passed it forward to them.

England's only hope is when the likes of Wilshere, Cleverly and Oxlade-Chamberlain start emerging. At least they understand the concept of passing and moving.

Gerrard gets the ball in midfield and there is no movement from anyone else whatsoever. So just a matter of time before he rifles it 60 yards.

England find it so difficult to go from midfield to the forward players. Takes so long to try to figure it out. Even against a very average Norway side.

Well around the time there was a lot of focus on Ba not scoring anymore and not being happy on the left. Be pretty unfortunate if that's the reason.

Sad that the switch to 4-4-2 seemingly only came about as some effort to get Ba a goal, despite the overall team play and performances being so much better in the 4-3-3. So unnecessary.

Sometimes I am truly amazed at the quality of players in our current team ... unreal job in the transfermarket in recent years. A few more tweaks and we could be truly devastating. Scary we performed like we did today without Tiote too.
