Aye. I keep it about football. If my genuine thoughts on football offends you, there’s something wrong with you. I’ve not insulted anyone.

You underestimated his potential, but you were pretty fair for the most part. Reading back over some of the other posts in here though man. Shocking.

While the posts about his looks were bad crack, I don’t think it’s fair to have a go at those who thought he would be a bad signing at the time.  All just opinion, and we’ve all been wrong before.

(I’ll just add here that I wasn’t one of them :))

Nah man. It's absolutely fair, because at the time it was relentless. It's hardly ever just a calmly stated opinion, and so when it backfires you deserve to get cooked!

I think we were fortunate today with that result.  We still had the same issues at the start of the game.  Once we scored, then another, they just lost confidence.  I don't mean to be negative but I just don't like our current system.  Eddie will resolve it, we can't maintain this half pres half possession based system.

Fortunate to win 8 nil ...

I have officially seen and heard everything now!

Tonali was immaculate when he came on mind, although by then the game was dead and buried.

But Longstaff's running, like Willock was crucial to our press last season. So aye, it is a conundrum.

It's not really a conundrum tbh.

Once Tonali gets more accustomed to the system and what is required, he will start.

Longstaff has been working in this system and with this manager for two years now and knows exactly what is required.

For the meantime Longstaff is doing his thing though and kudos to him.

Ultimately they will both still play lots of games and contribute to the team.

Honestly mate I thought they were terrible. Their keeper was flapping about all over the place. They were leaving gaps everywhere, no communication, no organisation, and by the end they had no fight. It’s the worst tactical performance I’ve seen, I said as such at half time and was thinking this around the half hour mark.

Yeah, I hear you, but I just have no time for it!

We scored 8 goals with 8 different scorers away from home today. Never been done before in history by teams better than us against worse teams than this.

That is the story today for me.

At least he didn't insult his appearance like a few others did. TCD never made it personal and should at least be mentioned for that.

Yeah, not sure why folks are always going on about how people look tbh. It's weird.

Looking back at some of the comments when we signed this guy man ... unbelievably embarrassing.

So loud and arrogant about it too, only to now be looking so stupid. Incredible.

Quoted for the next page to see. Not elite posts.

Yeah, those are pretty poor from TCD. Was too matter of fact about the guy at the time I thought.

from previous showings I’ve thought one of the things he could improve on is his ball retention and just being safer in possession. He was excellent at it today. Pass completion was 93% from 46 passes which is great considering how far forward he generally plays.

    Agree 100%.

So much better when moving the ball on quicker and finding space to receive it again.

When he allows himself to be pressured in midfield he doesn't tend to hold onto the ball.

Should limit his holding onto into the ball to when he drifts wide and can then take on players there.

When you lose 8-0. Surely you were awful? And the winning team has played great.

In the second half we were excellent. Some great moves and finishes. We were relentless. But you could tell we could rack up a crazy score if we stepped it up at half time because they were genuinely terrible. And they were bad bad bad.

We scored 8 goals and shut them out.

This is incredibly difficult to achieve no matter the level of opposition.

I give the Newcastle team all the credit. Thought they took full advantage and didn't let up.

You can’t win 8-0 without playing well, surely? We were magnificent. Tightish until we scored and then we pummelled them.

Yeah, not having the 'they were so bad' stuff.

We broke their spirit out there. Made it difficult for them to play and then also passed around them too.

Class performance. Scoring 8 and not conceding in anyone's stadium is nuts.

  11. Workhorse midfielder. Strikes the ball so well when he doesn't snatch at chances. Should score so much more.

This guy is a lot better than he thinks he is. Should trust himself more and not be in so much of a rush with things.

If he's going to make it to be an elite player, its going to be his intelligence that gets him their. He's was so good today at finding little pockets of space, and the recycling possession. Seemed to have a good relationship with Gordon as well.

Indeed. Like him best when he is passing and moving and only really driving with the ball when he's in space. Looks fantastic when playing that way.
