  1. They will still go down unless they put some serious investment into forwards.

Their best player is currently :dontknow: probably Luke Young actually or a 34 year old Heidar Helguson, I would have said Barton at the start of the season but by all accounts (including my QPR supporting boss) he doesn't look the player he was here (no Carroll to aim for?). Taraabt has predictably not stepped up.

They have scored the second lowest in the league and conceded not a bad amount (5 teams conceded more).

Taarabt hasn't stepped up because he hasn't been given enough a chance to. Instead Warnock was playing Mackie and Tommy Smith ahead of him. Good old hard working passionate brits that they are. Absolute joke.

Taarabt is the reason they came up in the first place, and he was even made captain, but as soon as they struggled a bit he got canned. Funny thing is though, it didn't exactly work for them did it.

  2. I feel sorry for Sunderland fans. The fact they even thought their club would have any interest in Cisse is funny, an African striker from the German league? They must have forgotten who their new manager is.

The very best they could hope for is probably someone like Jelavic or Hooper (I like Hoopper by the way), but they should probably come to terms with the fact they will likely end up with Zamora, Heskey or Morrison / Holt from Norwich. Basicaly someone very predictable and least thought out.

  3. never went away man, people just started to be more careful where they said it as it became less and less acceptable socially...perhaps people have just stopped giving a s*** about being 'caught'

i work in the oil game, for example, and i'd estimate that 90%+ of the expats i work with say something racist without a second thought...

Pretty much. Being able to "hide" behind the computer allows them to say these sorts of things again.

  4. From memory

    "When Demba's lips explode, you'll be f***ed"

"With the amount of darkies on your team you should be called the coon army"

And in reply to a mag calling him up on it

    "How are Ba's lips? #onlythingkeepingyouafloat"

Six page thread on rtg firstly assuming it was as one of us, then just ignoring it and pasting any reports they can find about racist incidents from Newcastle fans from 1976. Kind of apolitical for them by Seaham_FTM declaring how hilarious he finds the lips comments.

    That's lame ...

Big lips this, big lips that. All the better to kiss the ladies with!

Oh you mad?! You want that collagen injection huh? Pah!

  5. 26 years old and we give him a five and a half year contract? Whatever happened to Dekka and Mike's special rules for signings? ???

Um ... they said they wouldn't be signing anyone over 26, and they didn't.

  6. Ba seems to be far, far more suited to this league than the Bundesliga, judging by pretty much every opinion I've heard from people who saw him at Hoffenheim.

He was good at Hoffenheim though. They played him on the left though, and so he didn't quite threaten as much as he has for us playing through the middle. I saw quite a bit of them at the time, as I used to watch Chinedu Obasi who played on the right side of the front three. Ibisevic was in the centre. They were really good at the time.

  7. We apparantly beat a host of other top clubs to sign him - Andy Evans Agent for PDC

    NUFCfans site

Andy Evans, the agent of Papiss Cissé says Newcastle United beat ‘a host of top clubs’ to the signature of Freiburg’s star striker.

Speaking exclusively to NUFCfans.co.uk, Evans said there was interest from Champions League clubs and it was Newcastle’s persistence that paid off in the end.

    Evans said:

“There was a lot of interest and a host of top clubs were interested in Papiss, that’s why it was important to get a deal done tonight, huge teams were circling. I’m talking Champions League.”

“Newcastle did an excellent job of completing this deal.”

“They [Newcastle] were interested in the summer and made numerous bids for the player, but Freiberg were holding out for their valuation of €15m.”

Evans confirmed that Newcastle were finally able to agree a fee last night before the formalities began:

“The fee was agreed 9pm last night, Papiss had to come out of training camp and board a private jet set up by Newcastle at 7.10am local time this morning.”

“He arrived here at midday and went through the formalities.”

Interesting bit there. Hoping it's a similar case with Cissokho, as it seems we're haggling over the fee there too, and have been after him for a while.

  8. This guy has managed to bring in Tiote, Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Demba Ba, Santon and (fingers crossed) Cisse in just over a year. None of which have been for anything close to crazy money. The current development of the team is looking damn impressive. His decision to bring in Carr to back his idea of how he wanted to build the team was great too.

Today has been great. The transfer window gremlins were just begining to rear their ugly heads to complain about Ashley's lack of ambition, and his quest to continue to detroy the club etc etc etc. Fantastic to shut them up if only for a few days even.

  9. This is what I was getting at regarding the apparent bid for Morrison. If we really want this lad, use that money to make sure we get him rather than gambling on a tosser in a position we don't even need.

    This is incredibly short sighted.

  10. Would like to see this lineup ...

                                      Krul

          Simpson    Williamson Coloccini    Santon

          Ben Arfa      Guthrie      Cabaye    Obertan

                                      Jonas

                                      Best
