Same. They played a half together against Brentford at their place last season and took their defence to the cleaners. They couldn’t live with them.
Good memory. They did play together against them and looked good, yes. Think it makes sense when we go up against 3 CBs. Hope we do more of that.

Tactically I didn’t like how wide our wingers were. They did some decent work there at times.
But Barnes always struck me as the type of player you try and get to his main spots so he can have 3-4 shots a game. Did he have a shot all game?
Don't recall us shooting much as a team period. Just the speculative one from Schar.
Brentford were ready to ugly up the game and shut all that down.
Wilson was great, but could have really done with Isak dropping into space to link with the wide men.
Hope Howe considers pairing them against these sort of setups.

Some nice whipped deliveries, grew into the game. A little predictable imo
Like others have said with an overlapping full back and a striker that links play, his full repertoire will really be shown.
Really like him though. Still a threat and plays an intelligent game.

Gross had Martinez on toast for his goal. Brighton do a great job of getting the best out of all their players on a weekly basis
Just caught up on the highlights again.
My God those goals were beautiful.
Can't even fault Martinez for buying that feint. I would still be sliding across the globe going for that. It was a killer.

The very best of both Barnes and Gordon will always be with Isak playing.
Been very impressed with how well Barnes keeps the ball and plays with his head up.
Both he and Gordon are great at looking for quick combinations to open teams up, which we needed today, but bit it's not Wilson's strength.
The perfect setup today would have been slotting in Isak behind Wilson for one of Anderson or Longstaff.
Isak could then have linked with Barnes and Gordon, while Wilson occupied their CBs.
Hope we see that sort of lineup at times when these teams pack their box and play 3 centre backs.

For someone that apparently can't dribble, I thought Barnes looked canny on the ball as well.
I really liked Barnes today. Put in some great deliveries and doesn't give the ball away in build up play.
Brentford packed their box with 8 men and their 3 centre backs cleared everything aerially so it was tough.
We need to work on better combinations to break down that sort of setup. It's the hardest thing to do in football though.

Filthy goal. Nice!

I fucking loved that win. Wilson, man. He is ICE. And strong as fuck. I've never reached the levels of love for him cos Bruce era but I love him today.
Absolutely mad how dependable he is from the spot, like. And that hold up play, fucking hell. Won everything.
Wilson is great for this type of game and opponent. Was a real nuisance and loves a bit of a scrap and snide play.

The pressing thing is interesting. I think we are picking our moments more with it.
Maybe because we have so many more games this season, and still not the strongest squad?
Not sure really, but with time, I'm sure we'll get the balance right.

Good that Barnes and Gordon got so many minutes as I feel that might be a good combo as the season progresses.
Yeah, was happy with both of their performances.
Teams that sit in with three centre backs are really awful for us, so their decent deliveries into the box just weren't rewarded today, unfortunately.
Looking forward to seeing more of them playing together down each side.

Grimey, scrappy, ugly win.
Absolutely perfect as we needed it anyway possible today.
Good to see we can grind it out this way when necessary.
Huge result to just calm down all the noise.
Now we can all really just enjoy the coming Champions League game and just kick on from here.

Bruno could have played Wilson in there. What the hell was that?
-
We just need to see this game out, so everyone can take a breath and look forward to some better fixtures.

Fabian why?

Gordon's fitness are absolutely top notch now, he's been everywhere this game
Really glad he looked just as good on the right and so we have that option. Absolutely crucial.

For the record, Tonali >>> longstaff
The calls for Longstaff to come in for him were shocking really.

Longstaff is absolutely crazy.

I really don’t get how people keep complaining about the cancelled goal. Wilson hooked the keeper going up. Did you all not see that replay?
I'm still stunned by the objections tbh
Was a clear foul

You know absolutely nothing about football.
That's ridiculous harsh.
Just very biased, like a lot of football fans are.
Never a pen.

Justice. Clumsy, but never a pen. The ball was basically off the pitch and Gordon just left his leg there.
Shades of Argentina 98 with Seaman
It's the kind of stupid penalty we'd always get against us when we had 9 men in our box under Bruce when trying to play spoiler.
Always tend to get stuff like that go against you when your pinned back and under pressure. The instinct tends to be to reward the attacking team.

If we’re still winning with 10 to go then Tonali for Bruno so he gets some minutes before Milan.
Isn't he carrying a knock?

Harvey growing into it
He's been perfectly fine all game, and has put in some dangerous balls. They've got three centre backs in there though.
Players are tiring now so he's getting a bit more space.
Brentford came to spoil and frustrate and hit long to their speedsters. Been very little room.
Should be even better now they have to come forward more.

Gordon probably bought that, good on him.
He did well. Keeper was really awkward.
Brentford have been super deep and negative and it tends to lead to that sort of thing, so serves them right.

Looked like Wilson was holding the keepers arm down. Surely the reason why it was disallowed?
Honestly man, just imagine if that was the other way. Clearly a foul

Saw the highlights of them smashing someone 6-1 yesterday. Seemed to be loving getting to play with Neymar.
