  1. I am almost certain that McTominay will not be sold now.

He is still relatively young and is a club home grown player for Man United.

Also, ten Hag seems to favour him ahead of Fred and yesterday gave him more freedom to get forward, which suits him.

He'll be staying put with them.

I think Pedro was possibly a smokescreen for this deal. However, if we’d signed Ekitike we wouldn’t have Isak imo.

Pedro and Ekitike were to be understudies for Callum Wilson, that are able to play in other positions.

Once Callum Wilson then got injured yet again early on, they decided we needed a legit Premier League first team striker, with Wilson then being more of a secondary option. It was the right move.

Pedro and Ekitike were longer term squad/developmental players to grow into the first team. With us now making Europe and having a ton more games next season, I expect we will go back in for Pedro as Wilson is getting on and will continue to get injured, and so we will need more than two options upfront.

Phillip Billing been mentioned? Stands out anytime I’ve seen him(could be because he’s 6’4) but he’s been Bournemouth’s best player and will have plenty of admirers in the summer. Think we’d be in a good position to sign him.

Ever since he's been pushed further up the pitch as an 8 or 10, he's been incredible getting goals and assists.

Wouldn't mind him at all as an option for the number 8 positions, nice that he is left footed as well, as that would be a nice wrinkle to have in there also.

He’s a fucking baller. The technique on that finish was absolutely everything i love about footie

Love a side foot curler that flies into the top corner. The replay angle from behind Isak is an actual piece of art.

After the game Howe said: "From my side, there was 30 seconds left and he was down holding his ankle so I put an experienced player on the pitch. It is no reflection on his time on the pitch (to take him off)."

Howe said: “I’ve got no problem. Anthony is passionate boy. He wants to do well, but there was seconds left on the clock and we wanted to get Matty on because Anthony was holding his ankle.

"He just needs to control his emotions in that moment, but there are no problems."

Thank God we have such a rational and sensible man in charge. He's just so good.

Damn, i’m glad we didn’t settle for Joao Pedro now. This boy is something else. So cool and calm at everything he does

Don't think it was one or the other necessarily.

Think we'll still see a move for Pedro this summer.

We play draft fantasy football at work and the guy who had first pick this year wouldn't go for him because "he loves an injury" and so went for Salah instead.

Your opinion, and to an extent I agree. However, not understanding that we aren’t in the position to be spending £40m+ on a squad player is ‘tragic’ on your behalf. People are simply expecting more end product from

him due to the price, which is a little understandable. However, he’s never really had that end product, in fairness to him, so the expectation is a bit unrealistic right now. Yes, he could improve, and I’m sure at the club and under Howe, he’ll do that.
‘Throwing’ was simply my (possibly bad) choice of wording for ‘paying’.

    Fair enough man.

The manager must see something in him he really likes and so though it was worthwhile. Keep the faith man. Plenty more to come as he gets more integrated into the team. He'll have plenty more chances with the number of games we have to play next season now.

For what it's worth I actually like the idea of us spending more on squad players that are younger players with high potential that can eventually grow into a starting place as the first teamers get older. Joao Pedro is another younger player that will likely cost in the £30 million to £40 million range and would initially be a squad player, but think he'd be a great understudy and rotational player for Isak. Could see us going back in for him.

4 nights cooped up in a hotel and they produce a third win in 6 days.

    cant underestimate this win.

It's unbelievable man. Such a great set of results.

The way things were going today in the first half with those two pens, was sure we were doomed.

This team and manager are something else.

I didn't watch today's game so can't comment on his performance, but every game he's played recently he's impacted really well whenever he has came on, and probably deserved  a starting berth if not for Murphy's great form, as he's pressed really well from the front, had several goal involvements, and done well in attacking situations, is he the end product, probably not, but can you see the potential in him, especially in an Eddie Howe team, absolutely.

It does feel that some people have prejudged Gordon from his time at Everton, and as such every time he does something that isn't great, or doesn't have a particularly good performance, they're going to jump on him.

    This is it exactly.

Which point? That I haven’t been impressed? Firstly, that point is entirely subjective, and secondly: have you? Has anybody?

Well, he's mostly been used off the bench because as usual, Eddie takes his time before integrating new players into the team.

Aside from the fact he has barely even started a game yet, he has flashed enough ability to show that there will be much more to come from him.

There is just nothing to suggest that he is not very good, or CL standard, or that we threw away £40 million on him. He just joined in January. Come on man

Exactly. Our other 40m players have been clear upgrades for the first team. I’m all for spending big on future potential, but I just don’t see it with Gordon I’m afraid. I’ve been completely wrong before though, most notably with Joelinton, so here’s hoping the lad proves to be another astute signing and shows how little I know about football. Knowing this club’s recent track record in the transfer market I’m fully prepared to be eating humble pie sooner rather than later.

All that said, some of you need to stop being so precious. This thing started with me saying I wasn’t overly impressed so far. Can’t imagine many have been, so some people imo are being overly defensive at the moment. We are doing extremely well. Doesn’t mean we can’t say Burn looks tired, Trippier’s set pieces haven’t been all that lately and Gordon is yet to deserve a starting berth in Howe’s first team even when ASM and Almiron are out injured.

No one's being precious or overly defensive. Just think the points you made were awful, so we commented in response.

Fair points, but let’s not be pretending we’re at the stage of throwing £40m+ on a ‘squad player’.

He is 21 years old. He is a squad player initially that should grow into much more.

How much do you think young English players with high potential cost?

Also, why do you label it as 'throwing' as if it is a waste of money, when the guy has been here 5 mins?

This is honestly just tragic at this point.

  14. 4 minutes ago, Unbelievable said:

I’ve seen Gordon play for more than a few games in fairness, mostly for a team in blue. Never was impressed. Don’t think he’s good enough for a team aspiring CL football. Kill me.

We've not bought him at 21 because of the finished product he is for goodness sake man

Also can we stop acting as if CL teams don't have squad players that are not all world class. Come on man, this is pathetic.

Can't believe folks are still whining about the Gordon signing as we romp to yet another win under super Eddie Howe!

  15. 1 minute ago, Unbelievable said:

Murphy is starting ahead of him. I’m afraid he’s just not very good

Gordon just joined from a very different type of team. He has some great attributes and commitment. He is 21. He will be fine.

It has taken Murphy a whole year and a half to start performing well under Howe.

    Spurs lead.

Birghton denied two goals for dodgy handball calls, denied a clear pen, and now Spurs lead ... my God man. If I were a Brighton fan I'd be losing it completely.

We're probably better off Spurs winning though if one of them have to, as they will drop more points, as they are shite. Brighton's run was getting scary.

3 times in 2 different games where VAR have disallowed goals for handball where you can't actually tell if it's handball or not. Insane.

At least we are still in the lead and it has kept Brighton level with Spurs which would be an ideal result there, so think we're better off on the whole.
