It's certainly what I'd expect to start happening. Definitely at least one of them.
-
They also have the luxury of sitting in mid table and playing all these guys to raise their value. We are trying to push and challenge at the top. We do not have this luxury.

I think people at the club are fine with selling him for PSR reasons, because footballing wise he was more likely to go out again on loan next season. Brighton's strategy is not to challenge for a top four position and Champions League place, and does not see them sign players like Isak and Tonali. He might well be a promising teenager, but at this point of the clubs progression, it is more important to continue to build the first team with more experience and ready to play first team contributors, as we are still short there. And so if that means letting a promising teenager go for now, until we get further along in our restructure, then that's just what it is going to have to be for now.

Wow ... So who are the stars that have come through at Brighton exactly. Even with Caicedo all I saw was people saying he was overrated and never worth what Chelsea paid for him on here. And he's hardly been revolutionary for them. And so who are these examples that should have us so worried about Brighton's expertise?

How can you possibly know what the people at the club actually think about Minteh? There's literally people on the Feyenoord forum calling the guy a headless chicken. We're not talking about a player even all of their fans are all raving about here. This is pretty strange man. I'm just not sure how you can be so sold on this guy becoming a world beater.

You need to ask me really nicely.
-
So if he's not yet good enough, then why were you talking about having to spend on a right winger because we are selling him? Would we not then be doing that anyway if we kept him, as he isn't yet good enough? Also, his higher potential is the reason we are getting the fee we are, and so that is a factor already. Just because he might be worth more in the future that doesn't mean we get that type of money now. We are selling him now because he is not likely to be ready to start and we are already planning to bring in such a player on the right, and so he's been sold due to PSR.

You have to remember though, that Palmer asked to leave, because he didn't believe he was getting enough of an opportunity. Man City also spent a lot of money bringing in players, by circumventing the rules with dodgy sponsorship deals, and haven't been as interested in bringing their prospects through. I'm not at all convinced this will be our approach. They overlooked a quality player in Palmer that ended up being good enough to play for them.
-
Wait, so you think Minteh was the answer on our right side? You are that convinced of him already?
-
£33 million is what we paid for the likes of Bruno and Botman ... it is not cheap. If they can develop him further and reap the benefits then kudos to them. No different from us putting Bruno in position to thrive and more than triple in value compared to what we paid. We're not going to be the ones benefitting all the time.

You are definitely trolling man, a number of you have to be

I think the aim is to have a thriving academy with quality players coming through. Those good enough to impact the first team will be brought through, and those that aren't, should hopefully then still get us a fee from other clubs. I don't think we'll be as crass as the likes of Chelsea with this whole model. They are spending insane amounts of money on players, and don't really have the patience to bring through players and so it's a different mindset with them. We're very early into the restructuring of the club and had to spend loads to play catch-up just after the takeover. At the same time there are hardly any assets we can move to make money, and the financial deals are still being built up. That's the main reason we've had to move Minteh.

Wait a minute ... Never mind! You weren't being serious then! I knew it!
-
Wait, you were joking right? I thought it was funny is all. Were you actually being serious?!
-
There's something seriously wrong with you
-
Seen some fans of other clubs saying we colluded with Brighton, as the fee is too high All the Chelsea and Liverpool fans that thought they were in with a shot of getting Isak or Gordon I presume
-
Still you don't understand what the need to sell was about?! My God man! Try another sport for goodness sake!
-
Woah ... that is a really decent fee. Solid work from the scrambling incompetents at the club, to be fair!
-
This is probably fitting Minteh ending up at Brighton. Knowing that snake Ashworth he's probably recommended him off the back of some spreadsheet of targets he's copied off their system before he joined us!
-
Why does it mean he's ready to compete right now? They signed João Pedro last season for around the same sort of fee, and despite being more experienced, even he wasn't starting consistently for them.
-
Exactly
-
Yeah, there were murmurs the club weren't happy with his work towards selling players and it was a concern. The Muppet was too busy emailing back and forth with Ratcliffe and his gang to join Man Utd.
-
Think there were some people that really needed to reckon with the reality of the alternative scenarios
-
Would be good news. Need to move past all this noise now. Brentford just forked out £35 million for Archie Gray. £30 million for Minteh is decent. Need to sort this all out and start focusing on incomings.

Great post. Point 3 is particularly infuriating to me.
