Yeah, but it's far more convincing! Especially if his agent is in on it and the player is aware. We have to be seen to be the ones taking action on this.

I think we could claim that we made every effort to move players on, but can't just sell players way below their value, as it is damaging to the club. Would just be useful when appealing any dumb point deduction, which I think we may increasingly be more likely to take and then challenge at this point.

I think there's a good chance we've decided to take the points deduction hit. All this big show of trying to sell players seems very suspect. Might be used to mitigate how much of a punishment they plan to dish out, or to buy more time. But let's see. Something seems fishy around all this!

Just noticed Gordon signed a shorter contract. Looks like it expires in June 2026, which is really strange. Wonder if that has anything to do with all this. Going into the final two years from this summer.

Indeed. And if you're going to try and start discussions over a player whose price you'd like to try and negotiate down, doing so after that showing is certainly the way to go.

There's a clear split among posters in the thinking regarding all of this. Once the window closes and the games start, then we'll see what side things fall on.

As long as we keep our core players we are going to be very good this season. Outside of Man City and Arsenal the league is wide open. Personally, I can't wait for the actual football to kick off.

There was a ton of resistance to it at the time, which I didn't get. He was having a poor season and is a 33 year old full back. We also had Tino coming along nicely, and Krafth to also fill in. Big missed opportunity.

Yeah, I would agree. That's why I said a similar profile. Speed, work rate, runs in behind and ball carrying would be the traits they share.

Much more dangerous than Miggy and Murphy. Ideally, would come in as a squad player initially, but then I also think his upside is huge. Could just as easily see him come into the team and reach a higher level quickly, similar to what Gordon did last year. He's a similar type of profile to what Gordon was coming out of Everton.
