  1. No, not really, because we would have kept all our more important players and bought a more first team ready right wing player, and continued on pushing forward. God knows where we would be by the time 3 years passes. Certainly not waiting around for Minteh to maybe become a £100 million player. Make more sense, no?
  2. What happens if we go with this and plug him into the first team as our right winger option, and he goes out there and performs poorly? Massive risk to take, no?
  3. Olise was 19 in the 20/21 season for Reading and had 7 goals and 12 assists that season in the Championship and played 44 games. I think the Championship is a much more rugged and tougher league than the Eredivise, and him doing that at 19 in that competition trumps what Minteh did for Feyenoord last season IMO.
  4. Going to be so interesting to see where Minteh ends up next season and how he does. Bunch of story lines that will be fascinating to see play out regarding all of this.
  5. Okay, got you! Don't worry, you'll feel better when DCL is cooking with Isak next season
  6. Your post read as though you thought the money from Minteh was for the DCL deal. Was just trying to clarify that. The club do like DCL, but the Minteh thing with Everton also helps us out, will be interesting to see if there's any buy back inserted. If so, then we do rate the guy and are just doing what's necessary, if not, then it likely means we don't rate him.
  7. Cool, so the premise of what I said still stands then. We just don't have full 3 year cycles. Thanks for your enlightenment and for being such a gracious guru, oh PSR wise one.
  8. I hear you. Ultimately year on year, the commercial team, need to be working over time on ways to improve the money coming in. Could do with some hotels to flog too!
  9. Fair enough. Now guys, if you're going to deliver shots like this when I misunderstand something, please no complaining when I do it in future, okay? Because for some reason no one remembers this when I do it! Okay so we won't have another 3 years of leeway, but still it opens up bit more time, and the Minteh money is not being swallowed up by the money spent on DCL, because they don't count against the PSR in the same way, correct?
  10. PSR is done in three year cycles. This June 30th is the end of a 3 year cycle. Selling Minteh is to pass the current 3 year cycle of PSR. Doing the deal with Everton also helps them do the same, while also getting a player the club value in DCL. We are not selling Minteh in order to buy DCL! This then means from July our spending power opens up again and gives us another 3 years of time to make sure we fall within PSR, and so we can spend quite freely and have a much longer time period to balance the books etc, which will include getting more commercial deals and all that stuff. Having then passed the current PSR period, it will mean from July 1st we can spend a pretty significant amount of money, depending on how much the club has decided to budget for the summer, and how much they want to push the boat out. Again, we are not selling Minteh, in order to spend the funds on DCL!
  11. We bought him from a Danish club and gave him incredible exposure on loan at Feyenoord. He's going to end up on probably ten times the salary he was on when we picked him up. I doubt he's unimpressed. I'm sure he understands the process.
  12. Because we play a one striker formation, and we have a number 1 striker already.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

You do realise we aren't signing the Everton playing squad and coaching staff along with him right? Once again I remember all the quotes stating how few goals both Isak and Gordon had scored the season before joining us. You sign a player for their attributes and what they will add to your team and style of play, and how they will perform in your setup.
  14. My God I can't wait for the end of August to come around and to see the team we have in place.
  15. Yeah, I agree. He was really bad for Bournemouth. I'm sure they wish they'd never had anything to do with him.

    NUFC Transfer Rumours

I think we've shown our intent with the effort to go for Olise.
  17. Yeah, it certainly didn't help. That issue with Tonali, essentially cost us at least the Europa League place, and probably a Champions League place even, if he had really performed to what the club was expecting.
  18. This is a big part of these kinds of moves, trying to ensure we can consolidate a position in the top 4 or at least the European places consistently, by building up the squad with a number of players that can do the business in the league. Thanks to the Mike Ashley years we have very little room for error. Any major busts in the market and we are screwed big time, because they won't be easy to rectify by just going and buying someone else.
  19. We paid £25 million for a 30 year old Chris Wood, that is not as good a player. Talk of £20 million for any Premier League striker that has had any kind of previous success in the league is fanciful, never mind one that is still just 27 years old and has also previously featured for the national team, and so prepare to be disappointed. Best case scenario, even in the last year of his contract is likely to be £25 - £30 million I'd imagine.
