Would have been nice to see Wood show the finish even if it was marginally offside.
I was thinking the same. Shocking finish. Just stabbed at it with his right foot.

Hopefully Milner is taken for a CAT scan.
Was a scary scene earlier.

Another horric first touch from ASM when through on goal.
So tough to take in this kind of game. We just can't afford it. Infuriating.
-
We're tiring it seems. Liverpool have been wasteful though. and left themselves vulnerable to throwing away all three points.

Us bringing on wood and then bringing on Salah about sums it up.
Disgusting isn't it

Let everyone who talks about how much we've spent remember that even still we sub on Chris Wood while Liverpool can sub on Salah
When you take into account how little fat Mike had spent in multiple prior windows, that money we spent was nothing. It was just to get us back to some level of respectability.

Wood on for Willock
Strange that as Willock was playing well, would have taken ASM off me or Almiron
Willock is was way too lightweight in midfield. Was causing us issues defensively.

Great sub. Joelinton into midfield. ASM on the left.
We might have chance to get something here.

Been offside way too often on these free kicks man.

Southgate having a look at Targett?

Fuckin crap by Maximin. Horeshit
He was unlucky that time. Nice run into the channel. Needs to keep doing that.
His errors are much further away from our goal today, so not winding me up as much, but seems to really be getting on some people's nerves today

There's evidently a massive gulf between the teams, but our effort and application has been good. We switched off once and were punished, while we've looked relatively toothless.
Considering we are still missing two of our top players in Wilson and Trippier, I have to say, I'm still impressed.
Howe has completely eradicated any fear in our players and that look of complete hopelessness and ineptitude against this level of competition.
We are competing out there and are actually trying to make a go of things.

Saw a lad in the Bigg Market with Saudi Army and the number one printed in green on the back of his home top.
Definitely not a Saudi national like.
I imagine he's trolling all the people that keep trying to wind up Newcastle fans by constantly making out we now all love Saudi and approve of everything they do because they were part of buying a bloody football club. Never mind the fact some of them have been caught with tweets in the past wanting the Saudi's to buy their club. The whole thing is a farce.

Joelinton tries to play the hard man too much
I know what you're saying, but there's something about the way he does it that doesn't annoy me as much.
He never takes it too far and gets sent off (although watch that happen today now ...), and I think it gives the team a bit of edge and toughness, and it can galvanize them all a bit.

Maybe they are Saudi national fans?Don't know why people are still letting that upset them, but I guess they can if they want.

ASM up front on his own is a joke. One of the few things Howe has done that he continually gets wrong.
They're trying to play him in down the channels in behind the full backs that have pushed up for Liverpool, on the change of possession to counter, but just haven't quite got it right yet.
The real issue I can see so far is that we aren't really managing to win the ball back enough in midfield, mostly because Willock is a bit lightweight in there, especially against these lot.
Someone suggested dropping Joelinton into central midfield and perhaps playing someone else on the left like Murphy, which I think is a good shout.

ASM frustrates me. I know it's unfair but he frustrates the fire out of me.
He's an incredibly frustrating player, particularly against the better teams where you really don't have as many opportunities with the ball, as his mishaps are then so much more glaring.
I find him far more tolerable when he's much further up the pitch like he is today though, as when he's out wide and losing the ball in our half it is just the absolute worst.

ASM is an appalling striker of the ball. Just miserable.
Always looks to whack the living heck out of the thing
Needs to practice his R1 + O shots.

He isn’t a striker that’s why
Actually think he's looked decent, considering we are playing more of a controlled press, so as not to let Liverpool in behind too easily.
He's clearly now looking to release the ball a bit earlier, and he's going to be a threat in behind and running at them with pace as a forward.

Milner touches the ball, but he goes through Schar.
Um ... no he doesn't go through Schar. Come on man.
-
Love Schar ... but he was being a pussy.
Milner wins that cleanly and he actually then kicks Milner's foot.
That was a bit of a remnant from the Bruce days, looking for the bail out from the ref. Hopefully we get to a point we eradicate all of that completely.

Saint Maximin has been horrific this half man. He is so bad out wide at the minute, my goodness ...
