  1. Yeah it was a small lapse in a game he had defended brilliantly, really can't be upset with the guy at all.

To be honest I'm more disappointed in the space and time that was given to Jorginho to play that ball in.

I have to agree with this.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s sold in the summer or is replaced in the starting XI regularly from next season. Once we’ve stayed up, I don’t think he’ll fit into the style of play Howe wants to play.

I’m ALL for attacking flair, we all are. But I must say, I was pretty frustrated when he came on in the 69th minute and was half jogging to press down Chelsea players within 5 minutes of being on the pitch, whilst players like Longstaff were pressing from the very first minute. It doesn’t sit right with me.

If we stay up we're going to be in a position where we can bring in flair players that also have the work rate required for a high pressing game. These players do exist, Liverpool currently have four of them in Salah, Mane, Diaz and Jota.

My gut instinct is that ASM won't be here long term. I think he prefers and is more suited to a defensive setup that sits deep in a block, and doesn't require him to press, and allows him to pick up the ball and run with it on the counter when there is a turnover in possession.

The annoying thing is by the time he has himself surrounded by 3 players he's done his job. If there's a pass to make then make it.

He's obviously a quality player. And some of the stuff he pulls off requires the selfish going for glory streak. But there's a balance, and he could do with trying to involve his team a bit more.

You're so right on both points.

If he could just give it early in the first instance, especially when it is in our own half, then higher up the pitch he can then go crazy with his individual stuff.

Just that adjustment alone would make him so much better and dangerous a player.

It's always like this for a few matches until he picks up form and all is temporarily forgotten.

I agree he is frustrating af, like when he got surrounded by three players on the break where he could have made an easy pass to Bruno, straight in front of him, but decided to go for glory. He had 3-4 of those situations last game as well. Hard to tell if it's because he wants to take them on, or if he just doesnt look up so he knows where his options are.

Was such a ridiculous situation that one, especially as it was in our own half not too far from our box.

Play an early ball to Bruno there and keep running and a return ball from Bruno has him away on what would have been a dangerous counter attack.

He does that kind of thing really often and it costs the team a lot of great opportunities we could exploit. Not sure he gets it.

Tough pill to swallow but we deserved something today, that penalty call was an absolute joke. Hope the lads don't drop their heads now.

No chance man! That was a phenomenal performance and one to be very proud of, especially with the players we had out of the team. It's even more to build on.

Also a great sign how we seamlessly switched to a different system today and were able to execute it so well.

His first [I think] contribution was a perfect through-ball for Murphy, who mistimed his run. I took that as a sign that he had come on to play for the team.

If that's the limit of your understanding of what being a team player is then have at it man

Fanboys are gonna hate this. but I'd fuck ASM off. He's so lazy. wont Press or Track. Tactics and shape go to shit when he plays.

All the lads bust their balls and he looks more tired coming on the pitch at 70.

Just the player he is man. I've said for the longest he is not and never will be a team player. He's an x-factor type.

You can make room for such players in a well functioning team for sure, and so it depends on whether Howe likes him and wants to build a team that can cover his weak spots and accommodate him.

Today I would have brought him on upfront so he wasn't as much of a liability defensively, but hey ho, just a tough loss all around. Should have had a man extra and a penalty too.
