This is not a comment on his ability just Dan Burn looks so much like a defender from league 2
I love the guy. He's brilliant.

Targett is so fucking good man.
Genuinely baffled by the whole thing tbh.
How have we got this guy in on loan from Villa?

So does Howe have something against Bruno? Supposed to be our best player besides Tripper?
Chill out man.

West Ham will nick this at the end
Disgusting attitude!

Villa being able to just loan out Targett is pretty nuts.

Murphy getting sloppy now, looks fucking knackered too
Yeah, hasn't played this much in a while. Think he's spent.

Not too keen on Burn hitting passes forward. Lost possession a few times.
It's one of his best attributes

Fair play to Fraser man. Great effort today.

Them charvas with the Joelinton shirts on TV
I want one of those shirts!

We've been class! Be so mad if we don't get something from this.

Our build up play has been so good today. Nice and patient and finding good spaces.
-
Murphy has been so solid today. Good play.
-
We need to agree a fee for Targett right now!

Bruno for Shelvey seems an obvious like for like change at some point.
Don't think Shelvey has been quite as poor as some have made out. Made a few useful passes forward. Not been amazing or anything, but not the liability he can be at times.
I know people want Bruno to come in and I'm sure he will eventually, but the efforts to make out Shelvey is playing badly are ridiculous.

That overlapping run Fraser makes for Murphy coming all the way from the other side of the pitch was class. Glad it led to the goal. Great play.

Shelvey is struggling big time imo. Not sure if he's just ran out of steam or if the armband is getting in his head but he's been back to normal today.
What?! Guy has been making plays defensively and getting on the ball and playing good forward passes.
What on Earth are you even watching?!

Please tell me we have an option for Targett?! Very surprised at his level of play. Had no idea he was this good.

All started by some fantastic composure by Burn, playing it back in field to Shelvey as opposed to hoofing it.
Subtle differences a confident, calm CB can bring...Dan Burn is incredible man. I liked him as a player already, but watching him this closely is even far more impressive. What a signing.
Love him and Schar together. Both starting off our moves from the back so well.

Think our patterns of play have been so good today. Feels like everyone is getting touches and the ball is moving around so well as we work it up the pitch.
-
Shelvey, Joelinton and Willock have been class.
No idea how Bruno gets into the team
-
Willock has been absolutely brilliant!

A tackle isn't just about winning the ball or cutting out danger, a good strong well timed tackle can intimidate the opposition or individual, get the fans up off their seats and can galvanise a player who maybe lacking confidence as we saw with Lascelles against Everton.tackling is integral to the game and is very much an important part of it. It’s not just about winning the ball or sending the opposition player into the hoardings. My boy is coached not to dive in, to stand his man up, get tight, don’t ball watch and to jockey his man, but he’s also instructed because you can’t coach tackling, to try and win the ball by way of tackling if that’s what’s required or called on.
I think tackling is sometimes absolutely necessary, as you can sometimes be caught out of position or need to cover for someone else that has been, and you need to go to ground. However, I think there is an art to tackling, and an under control tackle can help you win possession a lot more often, which is really the priority for me. Just not a fan of flying in recklessly. I understand that in the prem it has typically been seen as a way to galvanise the crowd and player, but just never been a fan of that kind of approach.

This kind of tackle doesn't even win you possession a lot of the time as the ball just goes anywhere. It's not the greatest play. Think a lot of players do this kind of thing to play to the crowd, which is a bit silly tbh.
The best midfielder at winning the ball back in the prem is still Ngolo Kante and you will never see that guy go to ground that way.
