I did say it on here.
They'd prefer to not do him any favours after he refused to sign a new contract, and they'd also prefer to screw us over unless they could fleece us for a lot of money with that ridiculous bonus payment.
The didn't care for the odd £5 million they would have got from just a standard loan agreement.

Isak to Arsenal ON?
I think they'll end up paying his clause as soon as Auba is confirmed at Barca.

Think Howe wants a defensively solid left backs at the minute to cover for ASM's lack of defensive ability on that side of the pitch.
No idea why this guy wouldn't go out to get more games. Pretty weird and awkward hanging about the place when the team made you available for loan.
It could have been a really rubbish club that came in for him though, so should probably cut the guy some slack.

Where is Divock?

Knew they wouldn't let this guy leave.

Origi has to be one. Can play upfront or out wide. Has experience. Has pace. And it wouldn't take long to get him over for a medical, assuming he hasn't gone off on a holiday break somewhere. Come on man!

Why no Origi?!

Good shout. Think he would be a great pick up.
Another that can play wide left and upfront and has really started producing goals and assists now.
Nice young player that's well travelled now and has got some experience. Definitely a more seasoned prospect than Nketiah despite being around the same age.
Home grown player too due to Arsenal roots. Would approve

Why has Donny opted for Everton ahead of Palace?

It'll probably be Burn with Lascelles. Still time to use the 2 loan options.
When Eddie came in he talked about how he really liked Schar, as he was his type of defender, due to his ball playing abilities imagine. Never seen him big up Lascelles. I think Lascelles will be dropped tbh. As a matter of fact I could see both Schar and Lascelles being dropped, with Burn partnering another centre back we bring in.

No, just making a link between shit British players (or those from a PL club) being linked to us and his record of 43 of his 50 fee-commanding transfers previously fitting that memo.
People mock Dyche at Burnley, but Howe’s record isn’t far from that.
I think you are completely wrong.
From what I see this window our first choices have all been top players from abroad. However, with so much difficulty bringing them in, they have then decided to go for solid, reliable and prem experienced players as a stop gap measure so they can return for those top foreign players in the summer. They've opted for that approach rather than go for players from abroad that are not top tier, and so are not as certain of coming in and performing right away.
Bruno was the one instance where we were able to acquire a top tier player for a price that was in line with our valuation and the player was also happy to come to the club. And so we were able to tie up that deal.

Brighton fan here. Dan Burn has just gotten better and better for us. He has played left of a centre-back trio, left wing back and left of a back two consistently well for us. That said, he is viewed as a back up to Dunk and Webster mostly, who are two superb centre halves so no shame there.
He isn't the quickest, but uses his positioning superbly well and always gives himself a few yards. In the wrong environment against lightning fast players, he can be made to look very slow (Traore and a few others have given him nightmares at LWB) but this is quite uncommon.
He is surprisingly bad in the air. Whilst he wins defensive headers, his percentages aren't as good as they should be and the ball can end up going practically anywhere. Attacking corners is the same, often wins it and puts it into row Z.
He has improved tenfold since he joined and Potter really rates him. After a poor performance last season he was getting some stick, Potter said afterwards "anyone who doesn't think Dan Burn is a good defender doesn't know anything about football".
As for the sale, I can see it happening, although I have no insider information, I am just a fan. His contract is up in June 2023.
The issue is the fee. Tony Bloom is, in my biased view, the shrewdest operator in the league and as a club - despite large losses - we have no need to sell unless a player forces a move. As shown with Ben White (we rejected £25m then £30m from Leeds before he'd even kicked a ball in the PL), he simply won't sell unless he gets his figure.
Bloom sets a figure and just outright declines every offer until that figure is met. It's as simple as that. In this case, he wants £15m it would appear, so you'll either be paying £15m or he won't move. It's just how the club operates.
Hope this was interesting/useful.
Cheers pal
Out of interest what would you say his best position is? Or where you think he has best performed for you lot?

Can't see Dembele at all, would he not wait out his contract for another few months and get a massive signing-on fee from whatever club he chooses?
Barca are willing to loan him out till the end of the season apparently.

I think it's Dembele.
Just seen he has accepted he has to leave this window and his agent is looking to secure a move to the premier league as the best option.
Most crucially, Barca are willing to let him go on loan till the end of the season to get his wages off the books, and that way it still allows Dembele to keep his options open for the summer (in case we don't stay up).

Be worth a go for 6 months at least
If we can't agree for the likes of Zapata, Morata or Osimhen I'd tend to agree.
Apparently available for around 15 million Euros, which seems a pretty sweet deal.

Valencia are offering Maxi Gomez about. His goal scoring record has dropped since joining Valencia from Celta Vigo, but he looked a really talented target man prospect at one point. Still just 25 years old.
Anyone think he'd be a good signing?

Howe obviously doesn’t rate lascelles , he wants two centre half’s !
Every defensive situation where we are in a bad way Lascelles is usually culpable. The guy cannot play in a high line and is uncomfortable on the ball, as well as being a terrible passer of the ball. He will be out of the team IMO. Trippier will get the armband.

Would be slightly disappointing if Wood was our only attacking signing mind. Sure he won’t be though.
I think Wood was just an extra brought in due to Wilson's injury. We were fine with paying so much because we could get him in quickly in a desperate situation and because he has prem experience. Ultimately he'll be more of a squad player.
Think we're trying to get a main striker in before the deadline now. We've apparently looked into the likes of Vlahovic and Nunez but those didn't quite pan out with Vlahovic going to Juve and Nunez apparently not being keen.
More recently we're now seeing links to Zapata, Morata and even Osimhen and so I think we're looking to do something there still.

I think was we have gone to this 4-3-3 setup we need a wide forward type that is more of a striker or goal scorer than a winger per se. To bring more goals into the team. Similar to what Howe typically got out of Josh King at Bournemouth, who would play on the left for him at times.
Lingard would have played that role very well, but Man U aren't having it, and so I think we are likely looking at the likes of Origi, Nketiah, Mavididi etc to bring that quality into the team. Nketiah would likely be the cheapest and he's the youngest of the bunch, and so has lots of room to improve. I'd be happy with the move.
For what it's worth I think we will still be looking for another striker that is adept at holding up the ball and featuring as a lone striker in a 4-3-3, so that we have three options for that role in Wilson, Wood and the new guy. Looking like it will most likely be Zapata, or maybe perhaps Morata.

That's the thing, they don't see him as theirs anymore once he refused the deal. They were never going to do him any favours.
