  1. Apparently has had fewer shots on target than Christian Benteke all season

and Benteke has only started six games. Ouch.

For goodness sake. Every single bit of analysis and data that comes out screams at how incompetent we are man.

Not forgetting that Benteke himself plays in a fairly awful attacking team. Nothing as bad as ours though.

  2. I don't think he's that lazy, I think he's just knackered having to do a one man press whenever we lose the ball

Yeah, some of that and also that he is now completely demoralised. He is done and I don't blame him one bit.

  3. True colours coming out now. Shifting all the blame to his players by leaking info to people behind the scenes like a snake

But Redknapp has shared that Bruce thinks that Newcastle simply don’t have the playmakers required in advanced areas to retain possession in the final third.

“I was talking to Bruce after the Chelsea game and he said we haven’t got the players to get up the pitch and keep it, we have to defend well and we have to hope that those three players [saint-Maximin, Almiron and Joelinton] can do something special and he [saint-Maximin] is certainly capable,” Redknapp said.

The players just can't do it guys. Nothing to do with my pitiful coaching.

No one can ever convince me that these players simply cannot do better with the ball than 33% possession every game. Even struggling to keep the ball and control the game against Oxford?!

  4. Hoffenheim also played a 3-4-2-1 last season, and so when he played 'wide' it was more narrow. Similar to how Almiron and Perez played for us under Rafa last season.

Otherwise in a more traditional setup, it was more the way Perez is currently used for Leicester like Disco said.

  5.

    Alex Bruce:

“They’ve paid a lot of money for three players in Saint-Maximin, Joelinton and Almiron – who’s obviously been playing well, Almiron – but the amount of goals those three have put into the team has been poor.

“If Dwight Gayle can get himself fit, get himself a couple of goals and take the opportunity when he gets it, then it’ll give my dad a nice headache to have.”

It's all the players fault ... obviously.

Nothing to do with your dad's record breakingly inept team.

  6. At one point ASM broke away from the half way line, usual type of run right to the bye line and crossed the ball. Joelinton hadn't even got as far as the penalty area

Here’s the problem with the system though. If Joelinton wins a ball on halfway, there’s not a chance he’s making the ground up. This is where you need the wing-backs further up and one of the midfielders taking a gamble once we’ve won the first header. It probably helped Rondon last season that Perez wasn’t a speed merchant because it gave him the chance to turn and catch up with play. ASM and Almiron are heads down, full pelt, there’s little chance Joelinton even if he does bust a gut is going to get there.

    Perfectly put

It's happened numerous times this season.

And guess what? The manager has still not addressed it, or sought to resolve it in anyway.

  7. Ashley gets a free ride at games but some hosepipe  in a stone island jacket is okay with kicking off with the players on a train? Unreal

Hes kicked off and called him/them a disgrace because of some 10 year old being let down when they wouldn't take a photo with the kid. Supposedly got nothing to do with the result.

Dunno like. I'd be less likely to relish a photo-op with fans, if I'd just been fucked 4-0

People are so intolerable man. You'd think that big oaf would have more sense than that.

Just leave them alone and quit sticking a phone in their face so you can record stuff for likes on social media. Such buffoonery.

  8. Speaking ahead of Sunday's game, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has confirmed that he rejected the opportunity to succeed Rafa Benitez as Magpies manager in 2019.

The 37 year-old Spaniard preferred to remain in post as assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, but by December last year had been tempted to take charge of former club Arsenal.

"I was considering a situation at Newcastle that could change my professional and personal life.

"I had to put everything on the table to make that decision. I made the decision to stay where I was at the time.

"I believe that Newcastle are happy. What Steve (Bruce) has brought to the club has been really, really good. The performances and results, compared to where they were last year, are above any expectation.

"He’s put together a team with great spirit, and is a manager with massive, massive experience.”

So if Arteta was one and Sam Allardyce another, who were the others that United allegedly approached before belatedly turning to wor Steve?

Arteta is out of order man.

  9. That Steve Nickson is definitely a PFM under the guise of a scout.

He blatantly just saw Joelinton was big and figured he'd be 'ideal' for lumping the ball at.

  10.

Steve Bruce admits Newcastle cannot really change their tactics

“I’ve said many times that we’re not really capable of changing, and you probably saw that towards the end,” said the Newcastle boss. “We changed things to try to get back into it, and in that change we had two big opportunities. But we did become ragged.

“When we open up, we lose it at the other end and become too open. I have to say Martin (Dubravka) has been fantastic all season, but it’s a poor mistake (for Ozil’s goal). Then when you see Lacazette hit one and the ball come off his other foot and go in the top corner, you know it’s not your day. We have to move on, but the way we were so open at the end is a concern.”

    Is this guy insane?

Does he not know it's his job to make it work?!

  11. That Sako kid is actually a winger funnily enough.

Has just been doing a job at left back due to their injury problems.

You can try stuff like that when you control possession.

    Tell me about it.

We on the other hand played an actual wing back at wing back today, and made him suffer defensively.

  12. I thought him and Longstaff were both useless.

Midfielders are pointless in this team.

The ball goes over their heads most of the game, or they struggle to find passing options when they do get the ball.

There was a graphic posted on here the other day showing where teams do the most defending. Unsurprisingly we are the only team in the whole league to do "very little" defending in the whole of the midfield area.

We don't really own any midfield players who are capable of competing in the premier league, certainly not against anyone decent.

I genuinely don't think it's down to the players we have.

Norwich compete and use the ball infinitely better than we do, and you cannot convince me they have a better set of central midfielders.

It’s not JUST down to the players we have, Rafa showed that. But our midfielders wouldn’t get in Norwich’s 11

    Hmmm ... okay.

Would they get into Oxford's then?

If so, why were they dominating us?

  13. Could be wrong but I think Longstaff’s running numbers were some of the highest in the squad if not league under Rafa.

    Exactly

Remember against Man City, I believe even Pep singled him out for praise.

There is no plan for pressing and closing down the ball so we just sit back there, and the midfielders are hesitant to get forward because we are playing ultra defensive.

We're just kicking it long all game and turning it back over. How and when do the midfielders do all this running exactly?!

  14. I thought him and Longstaff were both useless.

Midfielders are pointless in this team.

Yeah I saw it. Every single type of analysis points to us being a diabolical team.

  16. I thought him and Longstaff were both useless.

Midfielders are pointless in this team.

The ball goes over their heads most of the game, or they struggle to find passing options when they do get the ball.

  17. There are huge gaps everywhere. We have defenders that then can't find the midfielders with passes, and a forward they cannot link with to allow them to get higher up the pitch.

We might as well just play another 2 centrebacks in midfield. Slot Schar and Lejeune in there and just go full rotten spoiler football.

  18. We’ll never see Lazaro play again.

He played well in the first half and stopped Sako numeorus times.

Gets done by him once and now everyone is lamenting that he's not good.

Like a bunch of little kids man. So cringe worthy

I'm sure most are capable of identifying that he's been pretty good this game (at least prior to us falling asleep), but equally was at fault for their goals.

I'm more concerned with why we've come out so deep this half and can't get the ball at all. That is more of the issue really.

The need to pin every issue on a scapegoat is hilarious to me. We've come out half asleep after the half and look clueless.

I don't really think we're looking for a scapegoat when a player is making noticeable, individual mistakes that cost us goals.

You can cut him slack since he's not a natural defender, new to the system, and largely played the role well until the goals, but he still made the mistakes and people are surely within their rights to point it out ("he's shit" comments excluded of course).

He has a ton of experience playing at wing back. It's too easy to just say he can't defend based on one game man. It's the same nonsense that was being said about Willems after one game. Our team is shit and it causes us issues every game. That is the problem.

We should have really just got a defensive right back and played him on that side and asked him not to go forward. Similar to what Rose is doing on the left today. Then everyone can sit in the box and never make mistakes so we draw every game as we all die a slow death watching this horrific football.

How many people on here, worth paying attention to, have actually said that he's shit because he made mistakes for the goals? He made mistakes, which were rightly pointed out. You're either getting wound up by posters that aren't worth investing your time in or you are incapable of seeing that making mistakes and playing well aren't mutual inverses. Sometimes both can happen, and it did today with Lazzaro.

Honestly, I just think it's all the same. Not really intending to have a go at anyone's comments. Just think it doesn't make sense.

If it's not him it would have been some other knacker. We've all lamented Yedlin, Krafth and Manquillo in that position.

At least Lazzaro was providing a threat further up the pitch, and looked to have some quality.

He's gone off and we've conceded another 2 horrendous goals and did nothing going forward that half.

The whole setup is a farce. Every single game man. Without fail.
