  1. Saw that yesterday. Seem to be linked with a lot of under 21s and one of Rafa's goals was to improve the quality of youth players, so hopefully a good sign.

A more exciting link yesterday was Marcus Thuram who is apparently available for £7 million after his club was relegated. Think he's a quality young forward. Would love that signing.

Think there'll be a ton of clubs in for him though, especially at that price.

  2. I'm still going to believe based on what we know as opposed to what we don't know that BZG are genuine, it's all done and dusted, and the hold up is with the PL who are taking their time. I don't believe this bid is fake for a number of reasons (they appear to have alot of money with the Asian deals signed, the reports of NUFC confirming the first BZG statement about a fee being agreed, the lack of denial from NUFC, the silence from Rafa, Monochrome Acquisitions, etc), but one reason worth reiterating is that this is the same lot that offered £2bn for Liverpool. If that bid was fake and BZG did it for publicity, whatever benefit there was in pretending to be buying a PL club has already been received. A further fake bid for NUFC adds absolutely nothing, there's zero benefit to pulling the same stunt with a lower profile club, in fact it's the complete opposite as the only thing that can come out of a second fake bid is BZG having a reputation of being chancers and charlatans. The most logical conclusion is that after failing to agree a bloated price for Liverpool they're settling for a club that has good potential and will cost closer to a tenth of what Liverpool would cost.

My guess for the reason as to why the holdup is with the PL is because the PL need to really do their homework on this bid, something that will take time. They're in an unprecedented position of having to look into how close Sheikh Khaled is to the Man City owner, as well as whoever else is providing funds for the purchase. Have we ever had a single "family" owning two PL or top tier clubs in the history of the UK football? Probably not, don't think there's many families big or rich enough to have multiple individuals owning multiple football clubs in the same country. Must be an insanely rare occurrence. So whilst the "fit and proper" test isn't designed to stop greedy and unscrupulous businessmen taking control of clubs in order to bleed them dry (presumably the PL's attitude is you'd have to be daft to do this since the club will plummet and the investor will make a loss), this takeover bid from BZG is a pretty big decision for the integrity of the PL - if they get it wrong within a decade we could end up with half a dozen PL clubs being owned by Middle Eastern sheikhs and princes related to each other. Or to be more cynical multiple PL clubs essentially owned by a foreign state with the sheikhs/princes/etc merely being a front, as is suspected to be the case with Man City's owner. Sucks for us, but has to be worth looking into and getting the right assurances.

    Some excellent points. Fingers crossed.

  3. New low this like, wtf is going on.

Get it in your head man there's no Takeover you thick Cunt

    Bit much this, like.

    Ten to 8.

Imagine waking up with such venom in your heart man. Lord have mercy!

  4. Strong interest in Seko Fofana apparently. Looks a really dynamic midfielder. Would be a nice replacement for Diame. Got a bit of Yaya Toure to him with those midfield runs. Used to be with Man City when he was younger too.

  5. I'm just saying. It's mental people talking like it's just a matter of time ffs

The 'everyone calm down' guys are always the ones struggling the most to contain their excitement, who are most likely to be the most disappointed if things don't pan out.

    Stop it.

  6. Does Odin have credibility? I mean, sorry to be talking so openly about you Odin but your info is so good that I need to know that your not just a WUM.

And Greg, he's a mod, surely he wouldnt put his neck on the line? (Unless he was guessing)

All seems to good to be true. I'm severely hoping for a major scoop from someone like Caulkin, an exclusive interview confirming it or whatever.

As far goes Pinsent yes, I moonlight as a recruiter for high level positions. Legal is one of the areas I dabble in along with Localization and Digital. I’ve pinched a few for them (Pinsent Masons) in the last 2 years. Especially when they were setting up a new Dublin office.

I didn’t post all day yesterday as am on holidays in Italy right now but when I saw all the news yesterday evening I reached out to my guy and he was aware of it so I didn’t need to fish too much for the info.

The takeover is a formality at this stage I’ve been told. Pinsent have a big team working on this, I assume Ashley does too with his lawyers so it’ll get trashed out in due course.

The main thing now is for BZG to move funds into a holding account controlled by the law firm. He doesn’t know for sure as he’s not working directly on this but he says deals of this size are usually done in instalments over the course of a few weeks and if the club has been broken up into smaller pieces like it has, each transaction will be a tranch of parts of the club, until it’s all transferred over in full.

  7. Nesreen Osman and her team in both UAE and the UK office are the lawyers looking out for BZG’s interests. No idea about Ashley’s side.

Conflict of interest in having the same firm is correct. BZG have used Pinsent on major construction work before so they have history.

My source at Pinsents tells me her team have already been in discussions with Benítez but at an early stage. All very relaxed as this is a totally new contract with a new employer but he’s probably having to sell his vision all over again so it will take time.

  8. This club can't progress without Ashley at the helm, it can progress without Rafa. Obviously I'd rather he stayed, but it's vital we get rid of Ashley.

    :serious:

Come Kaka you know he's mistyped that

    Unforgivable! Hound him out!

  9. Liverpool absolutely hit the jackpot with Klopp. I agree that he will be there a long time also. Feels like they're only just getting started.

They're now going to be able to attract the absolute top players if they want to, and so will be a huge threat going forward.

They'll spend hundreds of millions reshaping the squad and still claim they're not trying to buy the title.

They did an amazing job of getting in massive money for the likes of Suarez and Coutinho, who were two of their best players at the time, and then replaced them  fantastically well, and so it does feel a bit different though.

And now they've won the Champions League the financial rewards will then go into making even further improvements.

It's certainly been more tasteful than Man City's approach.

  11. So so happy now.

Hard luck to the couple of Spurs fans who posts regularly on here. No doubt they will improve further under Poch.

Came in to check how the takeover is going on for you. With a decent budget, I have no doubt you will see similar nights under Rafa. After all, he has one CL, two UEFA cups, and has reached the semi-finals of European competitions 8 times in 11 attempts all with unfancied squads.  The confidence we have in Europe in the modern era is due to this man.

Congrats man. Klopp is a top guy so pleased for him, and you guys have a lot of likeable players so well done to them.

We on the other hand could end up with no takeover and Rafa gone, so it's quite the opposite.
