  1. I rate Maguire. Uncompromising defender who is really good with the ball at his feet. Seems to have good leadership qualities too.

Expect Leicester to then request a two for one special and take Lascelles off us as well, along with Ayoze.

  2. Would be nice if this place stopped having people aggressively telling each other how to feel, react or think about all of this. Common denominator is that we know the only ways to directly hurt MA outside of physical harm is to boycott the stadium, stop buying merchandise from his entities and continue to hit MA directly. if you’re able to support the organizations with money, sweat equity / boots on the ground, social media, or word of mouth — amazing. If you can’t  do any of that for whatever reason you shouldn’t be chastised for it.

But again, this place has LONG been a forum and outlet to discuss football and the club. It’d nice if we kept it that way.

Thanks. This place is absolutely ridiculous at the minute.

  3. Also almost certainly not Viera..

Don't click on the link it's almost as grim as now.

"Patrick Vieira was also considered as an option to become the next boss of the Magpies. However, both parties opted not to pursue a possible deal following differences over recruitment and transfer policy."  Same policies they are reverting back to.

    Ah, interesting. Forgot about that.

I definitely get the sense all these reports are a ruse and they already have someone lined up.

    God help us.

  4. What a mess this is ...

Anyway, I believe we actually interviewed Vieira before Carr gave it to his pal McClaren, and reports then were that the club were impressed with Vieira then.

We also apparently have a deal in the works for one of his young wingers from Nice.

Coincidence? Maybe. We'll find out soon enough. My goodness this whole thing is tedious.

  5. if X manager from the continent comes over and speaks the right things, gives respect to the fans, the post etc. then that's all you can ask for - a manager who respects the post and us fans. if it's a hopeless retread weirdo then give him 100% grief  (bruce, fat sam, etc.)

It's a very difficult situation, but I am inclined to agree with you.

If say Gattuso or Vieira came in, I would find it very hard to be against them.

I just wish MA would leave man. The whole thing is so toxic now.

I couldn't bring myself to hate Gattuso. Thankfully it'll never be him.

One of my favourite players. Loved that AC Milan team under Ancelotti.

Such a great guy of immense character is Gattuso.

Him joining is certainly unlikely, I agree.

  7. One really can't help but have some sort of sick fascination with where this goes next.

They harp on and on about a head coach that will work with younger players provided by the recruitment team, but up till now no such manager has ever been brought in under this regime! It is utter madness.

First it was McClaren who had no qualifications to fulfil this remit and was just a friend of Carr.

Then they tried to shoehorn Rafa into this remit afterwards.

Third time lucky perhaps? I'll believe it when I see it!

Vieira, Gattuso and Van Bronckhorst are the only ones linked so far that fulfil what they claim to be after. We shall see.

  8. Will they finally just get a manager that is qualified to work according to this stipulation and not a Steve McClaren?

Let me go ahead and answer that right now for you: no.

    It's so bloody simple man.

These younger head coach types, should be the easiest to get considering the profile of the club.

We are again seeing Vieira, Gattuso and even Van Bronckhorst being linked and said to be interested, and these fit that mould.

It would be so crazy if we see someone like Monk come in.

How many times can they possibly screw this up for goodness sake.

  9. This union should have never been.

The club wanted a coach to work with young players recommended by the recruitment team, which is fair enough. Whatever. The fat toad can unfortunately go with the approach he wants. If done the absolutely best way, it can lead to something worth following.

First go around Carr was an idiot and brought in his friend instead of looking at top quality up and coming coaches. We briefly looked at the likes of Vieira I believe, before bottling it. With Carr opting for his useless friend McClaren. It was a disaster.

Rafa then got in touch and MA could not resist the high profile name, but in that instant he had to let the man do it his own way. Instead he brought him in and felt he could twist his arm into working to the younger players model. In turn Rafa also maybe felt he could convince MA to change his approach and truly go for it.

Another friggin DISASTER. Too completely different views with neither yielding.

MA is a disgrace. If you have a system you want in place, stop mucking about and just get the best people possible to achieve it without any issues.

Such a ridiculous human being man.

  10. Would be typical if they just spunked over 50m on joelinton and some winger and went on a spending spree.

I think it's absolutely going to happen.

Varying reports that provided the players are int he right age range then they will spend.

Joelinton was being offered up as a younger version of Rondon, but Rafa wasn't interested.

This issue has been the main sticking poitn throughout Rafa's tenure.

Will they finally just get a manager that is qualified to work according to this stipulation and not a Steve McClaren?

This is the big issue we face.

  11. We've been linked with a number of French youngsters and I've been very suspicious about this.

MA has wanted to go back to this model as it has been lucrative.

Only God knows who is behind all this in the background, who has clearly been targeted to take over once they moved Rafa out of the way.

  12. I have had a second thought: may be this was the last obstacle for the takeover, and now we will be sold very soon

There was always one big question in my mind throughout the takeover: why would Ashley sell us if Rafa is here? Rafa has been performing magic and able to give Ashley minimum 30m (rough figure) profit per year. You may not grasp how significant it is but I can tell you assuming the club is worth 350m, it’s close to 8.5% return per year (and excluding the advertisement) which is f***ing attractive. Newcastle United is close to a cash cow under Rafa. No businessmen will sell such a cash cow unless other party offered astronomical money.

We all know that a big reason for Ashley to sell the club was because if Rafa left, the cash cow status will be gone and he needs to provide a lot of new funds for the new manager to improve the squad. So it’s a great timing to cash in and quit, hence the BZG story.

In other words, why would Ashley sell the club if Rafa is willing to stay and help to generate 30m per year into his pocket?  And if the club was to be sold shortly, the new contract was meaningless because surely BZG will negotiate with Rafa separately in relation to the working condition between Rafa and BZG.  Those terms (50m all inclusive per year etc) only applies when the club was not sold.

So to me, the negoatiation of the new contract itself always contradicts with the news that Ashley has agreed to sell the club to BZG. Hence I always ignore these news. However, the statement issued by the club today suggested otherwise. It’s real that the negotiation was carried between Ashley and Rafa, which means the club would not be sold to BZG shortly.

However, again this contradicts with the statement issued by BZG, which claimed that the price has been agreed between BZG and Ashley. So what was Ashley doing? On one hand agreed the price with BZG and on the other hand persuading Rafa to stay and work on his own terms (I.e. the club will not be sold)?

The only logical explanation I can think of now is, Ashley priority was to retain Rafa / the cash cow status (the terms offered would still generate huge profit to Ashley, I guarantee you this). The BZG takeover was the plan B in case Rafa decided to quit. Which is, Ashley has agreed the price with BZG but he would not finalise the deal until his first priority is gone.

This was also in line with recent development of the BZG story. After the proper test no more news has come out and it appears to be hold up by someone till now.

Hopefully the club will be sold shortly now as Ashley’s first priority has gone.

    And again, thanks Rafa.

    Interesting point of view.

I guess we'll see what transpires next.

  13. Well it’s over then.

First feeling was grief, then a bit of relief crept in. At least we can stop pretending we have a football club to support.

Main feeling now is anger at Ashley for having taken away such an important part of my life. But still not decided whether it’s worth protesting actively or if it’s just better to forget about it completely.

I’ll be telling people I used to be a Newcastle fan from now on.

I can really relate to the relief aspect.

Tedious checking for news on all this crap everyday and hoping for some resolution.

    Absolutely sick of it.

  14. Let's never forget that Mike Ashley quote where he says 'They have no idea how nasty I can be ...'. He loves this.

Now here is the most despicable part of this whole thing ...

He wants to get in young players with re-sale value that can be developed, but will he make the effort to actually find a quality manager that has a proven track record of this? No.

He will just give it to some goofy clogger of a manager.

    The man has mental problems.
