Seems every recent tournament there's always chat about whether Rooney is fit enough because he's on his way recovering from injury.

How on Earth has Butland managed to fracture his ankle like that?! That is a sickener for the guy. Very unfortunate.

If Rashford carries on the way he has been going, staying in the Man U first team, and firing Man United into the Champions League by continuing to score goals at his current rate ... I certainly wouldn't begrudge him being called up!

His pace and directness would be lethal off the bench against any team. He also gets into goal scoring positions really well for his age. Fantastic movement.

When Dele Alli and Dier where initially called there was a bit of mumbling about it being premature, and hey presto.

Well done England. Looking promising for this summer. Hope the whole Rooney will he or won't he doesn't spoil things.

Liked what Roy did when he brought on Vardy. Switched to more of a 4-3-1-2 with Barkley in behind Kane and Vardy, with Hendo, Dier and Alli in central midfield, and the fullbacks supplying the width.

Good stuff. Good that he experimented with both up there, and didn't leave it too late to do so.

Playing well but have we looked that dangerous?

 

Stick Vardy on, all crosses become twice as dangerous. Kane is playing well, as are the others. But you need goalscorers.

Think you have looked dangerous at times, yeah. Would still like to see Vardy and Kane upfront, and perhaps replace Zhenderson with Alli in midfield.

Think he would have if not injured. Unlucky, but the other goal was wrongly cancelled, so it balances that out.

In this set up we're not really playing a "number 10", Alli all day at minute as he has a better all round game.

Alli's rise has been incredible. Interesting that people feel he is ahead of Barkley now. Think I'd have to agree. More tenacity and consistency.

Can see the effects the pressing philosophies of both Klopp and Pochettino has had.

England look really decent. Fantastic pressing from the forward players and midfield. Think you guys are primed for a really good summer.

Out of interest why is he not pairing Kane and Vardy and testing that out? Sure Kane has shown he can play off the front man too in more of a centre forward/second striker role if he wants to keep more of a 4-2-3-1 shape. Both KAne and Vardy do a great job pressing and so defensively it should still be effective.

Basically no point considering Rooney will stroll back into the side on the basis of nowt.

Hodgson is going to turn the tourney into a farce by making the wrong call on Rooney. No way that guy should start games from the outset. Kane and Vardy have been exceptional.

Hodgson should use these friendlies to explore possibilities of pairing both Vardy and Kane to see how he can possibly make that work.
