Surprised how little we improved today. 10% atmost.
I am not getting on Rafa's back by any means but we still play like strangers.
This is the most diffcult thing to fix, i am sure Rafa will get it eventually but we might not have enough time.
We need to start playing like a team if we want to get out of this and now its doesn't look like its moving that way yet.
In his first two games he has tried different starting lineups. I really love that.
You can see he's trying to find the right formula. Our squad is oddly balanced and none of us yet know how best to utilise the players either.
He'll get it right because he's clearly making the right subs so he knows when it isn't quite working.

Interesting that it hasn't taken long for Rafa to ditch the two local hero's, that too in a derby where they are supposed to give the extra geordie pashun.
That's why a foreign manager can be beneficial. All that stupid sentiment out the window.

Elliot
Mbemba Lascelles
Janmaat. Anita
Sissoko. Shelvey
Wijnaldum. Townsend
de Jong. Mitrovic
I have no idea.
That's what I typed out then decided not to post.
Had SDJ in the hole though.
Yes. Agree with that.

Sissoko has to be given a chance centrally with Shelvey at this point.
However, we will need the central attacking midfielder to then be someone adept at really dropping and getting involved in play. Therefore has to be De Jong.
Townsend must occupy one wide role. So then between Gini and Perez for the other.
-
Both he and Perez are similar. People don't tend to want them out wide, but it's where they do their best work from.
-
Really like this Rashford kid man.
Carragher was saying they shouldn't still be starting him
-
Needs to be out wide and tuck in from there. Was bullied through the middle today.
That position continues to let us down. Both he and Gini have shown they can't hack it.
-
That Kone is a beast and so is Kaboul. Not a good match up for him today. A more nippy striker is needed around those two.
Love the fact he fought hard until the end and he never quits even when it is going against him. We need to get more dynamic and technical players around him to stretch the defence and open things up for him. Only Townsend looked capable of it today. Sissoko kept losing the ball and Perez was bullied.
-
Their confidence grew and grew as they continued to bully him on that left side.
There are at least ten people on this forum than can do better I have no doubt about.
Phenomenally weak human being. Complete lack of physicality in every way. I don't know how this guy is a professional athlete. He has no physical traits to allow for it.
-
Such a head case this one. Very careless going forward and then when he gets the ball in a good position just throws in a really shit cross.
In summary, an asshole.
-
Our best option for the role off the front man.
He receives the ball well due to his excellent touch, can hold defenders off due to his size, and then he makes very quick decisions when he receives the ball. Was key time and time again in the second half.
-
So much energy, strength, drive, desire ... But the guy is not a forward player. Feel bad for him because we get frustrated with him in those positions but he really can't help it. The ability isn't there.
Loved his attitude today in being dropped to left back and doing a sterling job with no hesitancy or complaint.
No idea what we do with this guy as a player though. He has to be in midfield somehow, with enough quality around him to mask his lack of technical ability.
Want to see him alongside Shelvey, with De Jong just ahead of both. He showed today he can be very useful in a defensive role.
-
Anita's little ball to Gini while he stayed back and allowed him space to get a ball in was so refreshing.
So sick of Janmaat bombing forward and doing fuck all but get in the way of our attacking players.
-
Thought Sissoko was surprisingly excellent at LB actually, usual frustrations put aside.
Sissoko would be a hell of a full back. Stopped the threat from Borini that was causing us so many problems.
Sissoko to lb was a heck of a move by Rafa and it helped us get a point no question.
-
Looked a bit more fluid with De Jong on, hopefully see more of him.
And less of shelvey
Shelvey was one of the few that was busting a gut to get all over the pitch. I can't get my head around how anyone can watch that and wants to see less of him.
Because his passing quality/ crossing quality is poor. Ill grant you he runs around and fair play to him for that, but i would sacrifice a bit of that for a bit more quality
A bit more quality from who?!
Shelvey absolutely has to start. Not at his best today, but still was by far one of our better players.
-
The first 11 still didn't work, which is incredibly disappointing really, as I thought it would.
The only thing I am certain of is Townsend starting on the right and Shelvey in the centre.
-
Anita deserves some credit. So much more calm and sensible at fullback.
-
De Jong has technical ability and Perez does also and they worked really well together. Play stopped breaking down with Sissoko out of the way.
Sissoko is a massive problem going forward.
-
So fuckng frustrating man.
-
Had to release that sooner.
-
Sissoko lets you down time and time again.
-
Epic Liverpool collapse in the other game.
-
god and he f***ing dunked on yedlin too that's like two goals for me
Pshh!
Nuts all up in his mug!

GET IN
Wasted about a minute with the celebration, get on with the game w*****s.

Had a really good shot in the first half too that was parried but no striker there to follow up. One of the few that has actual oomph in his strike.
