More suited to the prem than Italy that's for sure. The pace and open game here would be better for him.
Doumbia, Sissoko, Townsend and Gini front four has some serious speed. Very useful with Shelvey able to play a ball in behind too.
-
Yup, looks like even the left back move is aimed at creating more scoring opportunities. Cool with that.
-
Interesting. Liked the sound of the Valencia left back as he can apparently play CB too, but Siquiera sounds more attack minded, which would be a nice balance, because we get nothing going forward from left back.
-
He does look really old
More to do with the absolute state of his hair though
Hope we get him, and have a permanent option.
-
Doumbia being mentioned "advanced negotiations" in a few low quality web sites (sky italia etc). Rather him than Gomis. Weren't we linked with him a couple of year back when he was at CSKA Moscow ?
Yeah, been linked with him a number of times in the past. His goal scoring record is top notch. Would be a really nice pickup. Didn't quite click in Italy with Roma, which is why he's available. Has been on loan back at CSKA though and been scoring again there, so surprised he's available now. Maybe the loan was just until January.
Would be a pretty exciting signing. Only just turned 28 in December so still a good age. Can play on either wing too. Lots of pace and athleticism.
-
Ahmed Musa of CSKA Moscow keeps getting linked with Leicester for the amount we are supposedly willing to pay for Berahino.
Plays striker, left wing and right wing. Very explosive pace, and really talented dribbler with the ball.
Would love to see him here, but think we are looking for more of an out and out goal scorer that can play upfront alone. Musa plays upfront alone at times for CSKA, but not sure how well it would work in our team.

Pardew says in his press conference today that he tried to sign Adebayor while at West Ham and at Newcastle!
Man ... and that is why we were very fortunate that tool was given short shrift regarding incomings.
-
Gayle's a weird one, he always looks dangerous against us but he doesn't seem to be that highly rated. Is it a case of being Pardewed?
Pardewed, Pulised and Warnocked. Though the two latter managers actually used him more.
Ironic that Pulis is essentially mismanaging Berahino the same way at West Brom. Doesn't want to play a smaller striker upfront.
Funny how Fat Sam finally playing Defoe upfront after refusing to do so imitially, is what has now given them a chance at survival.
Really don't understand these sort of managers. They are so simple minded at times.
-
Brief mention about Jordan Rhodes in the Chronic. Nee quotes or anything though.
He's available apparently. Would be a great story if we took a punt on him and he turned out to show the same knack for scoring as he does in the Championship.
The worry for me is his lack of pace. He's really pedestrian and not sure his game will translate to the prem. He's not that much of a physical presence either, so not a great combination being on the shorter side, and quite slow too. You never know though. However, for the fee they're asking it would be a big gamble IMO.

Always good to hear from the fans. Regarding Gayle ...
-
Don't get the fuss with Gayle personally.
Really hope he gets a move to a team where he plays so he can show his stuff. Bit of a Defoe about him. He'll score goals.
-
He's also one that you can rotate with Mitro, as well as play up top with him at times, in the sense that he won't necessarily demand to play every game, so won't hinder Mitro's development longer term.
-
I've always liked Gayle and can't believe he hasn't been used more at Palace.
If we're after a striker with similar attributes to Berahino, who is used to the league and won't need time to adjust, then he's a great option IMO.
He would definitely put away a number of those chances we've been failing to capitalise on.
-
Just seen the Daily Mail has said Dwighyt Gaule is on our list too!
Would be very happy with that I have to say. That guy is a quality finisher.
He's been stuck with managers that love a big lump upfront at Palace, but when he's played he's looked a goal threat.
Would be a good alternative to Berahino, as he's quick and gets in behind. Really hope we go for him.
Also a massive chance to rub Pardew's face in it, if he comes here and shines. How sweet that would be.
-
At least they've made this clear well before next Monday. Hope we have legit alternatives.
-
Gayle will score goals. Wish we'd sign him ahead of Swansea.
In any case if Gayle does go there, he will start playing and scoring.
It will become the first big stick that will be used to beat Pardew.
Looking forward to it.
-
The guy's look is indeed shocking.
-
Number 25 shirt. Good choice of the remaining options.
Got stardom written all over him this one.
-
The state of Raheem Sterling man ... keep it simple bruh. The hair and beard ain't working for you. Trying to be Wilfred Bony!
-
Weird, because it occurred as he was throwing himself to the ground from the challenge, which didn't cause the injury directly.
-
Damn ... That looks like a torn ligament for De Bruyne.
-
The delivery from De Bruyne is nuts.
Looking forward to Andros whipping some of those in from the left
-
Yeah, a three year deal, which would allow Mitro to develop further.
In the meantime they could be paired occasionally, and Remy can even feature on the left sometimes, where he did really well also, With Mitro up top. Lots of flexibility and options.
Can't see us shelling out that fee for him though, unfortunately.
-
We've at least now signed a couple of players who aren't scared to have a shot from distance even if they're not prolific.
Not to mention one that actually beats players.
Even Sissoko tends to power and bumble his way past opponents, rather than dribble past them.
We don't have a single guy that can get a full back on his back foot, which really is a bit silly.

Not a terrible comparison. He is super quick and runs at defenders with the ball really well. I think the fans woul really like him. Type of player that causes havoc.
A more current comparison is perhaps Saido Mane. Though Doumbia is more of a striker, and Mane a bit more of an attacking midfielder.
