Targett was brilliant for us during his loan. The wages you can argue about, but £15m in the context of that time for a player in a position we needed cover in, English, ahead of or just coming into his prime, was great business. It really was a no brainer. It obviously hasn't worked out due to injury etc., but it was pretty well regarded as a great signing when we made it.

What you've got to remember is that Howe just isn't a proven winner, apart from all those football matches he's won, but other than that, the man just doesn't have a drop of Elite blood in his veins.

Can Murphy play up top as effectively as Gordon can? It's an option definitely, but I think it'd weaken us significantly

The alternative is keep Isak on who is also going to be playing all the time and keeps getting knocks as a result. Understand completely why you'd keep Gordon on there
