  1. Im not really sure what a fa base like ManU would mean in the context of away support.
  2. I reckon radged up SJP(/other Brit grounds) > ultras but ultras > what in reality it’s often like at Brit grounds
  3. It's definitely tainted for me, but I am largely able to put it to the back of my mind. I'm not as buzzed about things as I was during the Bobby days. Part of that is the geopolitical game our team is part of, but it's also just that we're mega-rich and that silverware seems an eventual certainty now unless something goes badly wrong (last season was partly great as we reached heights well before expected). That kills some romance. And actually for me the biggest thing is that we're in the VAR era - the single worst thing to happen to my experience of football. Then there's just the personal aspect of me not being able to go to the games now like I did then. But having said all that, I still care loads - I was desperate to win that League Cup.
  4. People were right moany bastards around me at St James's in the best days of Sir Bobby. The long shadow of Laurent Robert looking a bit lazy every now and again darkened any joy of breaking into the top 4 for a load of those cunts.
  5. What's the story with how come we managed to get a much larger allocation last time? (12k v 4k)
  6. From my feed it sounded like the whole stadium was quiet. You could hear the ultras but it was just a low background drone, very little noise in reaction to attacks or anything. And couldn't hear our fans much, again til the end. Was thinking must be the feed. Also was surprised by the lack of shots of our fans.
  7. Ah right. That's the opposite of the Inter game I believe (?).
  8. Where were our fans located last night? I thought behind the goal to the right, but just saw most of that stand in this clip and doesn't look like
  9. Imagine supporting another team, where seeing Shearer score at the San Siro doesn't overwhelm your heart. Couldn't do it myself.
  10. Thought we were pretty shit. Didn't really feel like we were battered though like the stats suggest - AC were poor too I think, didn't feel like we were playing a great team. Bit concerned by our lack of fret. But think it's a good result away against last year's CL semi-finalists, and we're in the CL, so we should enjoy it. Maybe AC were much better than I could see and made us look shit?
  11. Italian atmospheres are weird. They bare so little relation to what's happening on the pitch.
  12. Paul Dummett on the bench at the San Siro. Still freaks my nut out to this day.
  13. Was meaning in England. Must be quite rare across continent too, but Juventus come to mind.
  14. It's just so weird seeing this so soon after the Bruce days. It was just unimaginable.
  15. That chance where Leao tried to backheel it. Not a good look for the CL from either team there. We must be the only team to have played in the modern CL, then the championship, then CL again.
  16. Years ago in the toilets at St James' as 'have you ever seen a mackem in Milan' rang out a bloke loudly says "nar but ah fuckin aaalways see them in Matalan". Always stuck with me. Here we are again.
  17. Were WC qualifiers weren’t they? Unless you mean meaningless cos Brazil always qualify.
  18. Unnecessary ref/decision chat. Brief Howe interview on BBC national radio and it's all asking him about the disallowed goal and the cancelled pen. Who gives a fuck man, we won and neither of those decisions ended up mattering, nor were they particularly controversial.
  19. I don't really take that as a slight on Newcastle or Fulham, I just take that as 'no looking back, I'm looking forward to my time here now'
