  1. I go to matches on own for cup games alot of time and never felt out of place. Been to Cinema once on own and felt like a total loner
  2. There is that NO9 bar Steve Wraith has, cheap beer but hot as f*** inside, went in fat as f*** and came out only slightly fat as f***. I could be watching the game in the north pole and I'd still sweat like a beast, especially when Simpson is on the ball. Which isn't for long as he has normally hoofed it or lost it within a few seconds

I was tempted to go at spurs game but thought it would be packed and take ages to get served? How was it to get service at the bar, take a while? Took me about 5-10 mins for first pint, but went back and took about a minute, not to bad tbh

Basically like a warehouse downstairs (Used to be cosmic on Stowell Street), but loads of singing and they were doing the Ameobi Hokey Cokey when we were in.

  6. All much better than what we have. Have you seen Shola's injury record? He's injured now actually. First part is obviously debatable, especially with the players we could play off Shola in comparison to them. Outside of that, you're basking in negativity. Best got injured all the time aswell, would you want a 5th striker then? Lets not consider the injury records of our other strikers in comparison either, because everyones going to get injured regardless obviously & we need to throw money at it. Again, read what I've posted. I've said we need a replacement for best only 2-3M not a 12M striker hardly throwing money around. Basking in negativity, if we go through a injury crisis upfront I'll be reminding you of all of this. Replacement for Best suggests you were happy with Best, a guy who you just said earlier was out for the 2nd half of the season. But to you Shola isnt a solid enough option in comparison as he has a dodgy injury record. Solid talk as always. Do you actually believe that Shola is good enough to be our 3rd choice striker? Don't think anyone is over the moon with it, but is there an option out there that won't set us back 10 million that matches our criteria. I would like to think we could get a young up and coming striker for around 5 mil from abroad but no idea who, in this country they would rip our eyes out, It's no wonder Rhodes has not moved, over 4 million for a Championship/League 1 player is a joke tbh. Carroll for 15 million with 6 goals in 44 games is also a joke, as is 14/15 mil for Fletcher with 10/11 goals per season. For that much I would want a striker scoring 15+ - similar reason I think Zaha has not moved is Palace wanting circa 10 mil for him. I think we are willing to buy players if the price is realistic and weigh everything up on resale, what they add etc. Cisse 8 mil, 13 goals, worth now 15+ - makes complete sense and we scouted perfectly. Maybe they just feel we are not getting value and as its a business it is their right to run it the way they see fit, it's not nice to see and I would love to see us sign a few players - but they have earned the right to be respected in what they have done since we got promoted. I would like to see them improve Reserve/Youth level though as they were going to bring in a few development and only really Bigi/Good came in. We need to start getting at the French/Dutch/Other players at a young age 17-19 and try and get a production line going. I know its difficult but that's our best hope. One thing for sure is we are so much different to the team that went down / got promoted, we have so much more technical ability now. Would like to see us kick on and play more possession football this season.
  7. The fact that we are back in europe should be enough for people to want to go and watch us tbh. Fuck watching it on TV, 15 quid a ticket is not bad. Made me think though (Which is always dangerous), should the club offer Season ticket holders deals for cup games - like £10 or something to try and get more through the doors (keep prices at 15/20 for non season ticket holders). I know this may not go down well for some but surely the club would make more money and ticket holders would more likely take them up on that, a full house, more spending in ground etc. Pisses me off that no one turns up for Cup Europa/League/FA or otherwise. Its a dreadful atmosphere and a full house or circa 40,000 would certainly help our chances going through. I plan to go to all home games (I have watched on TV before when we are at home once or twice over years and hated it) - need to be there if at home tbh
  8. He seems to have been bought for depth rather than play alongside Tiote and Cabaye, the Ajax fans were right Not sure on this, I think Pardew intends to play all 3 personally with Cabaye pushed forward. Think we will end up 4231/433 long term as it would suit our options, but maybe Pardew wants to have tactical options of 442 for some games. We played 433 quite a lot last year as well as tweaked 442/4411 formations. Just looks as if Pards is trying to keep Ba happy.
  9. This and the other quotes don't make great reading... What would the harm be in saying we are still hopeful of 1 or 2 coming through the door if we were anywhere near close to doing something... I'm still hoping we are waiting to qualify for the group stages before pushing the boat out one last time to increase the squad size by improving the first team... The harm would be in press coverage alerting other clubs potentially? - May just be bluffing - although it seems unlikely. If your not naming the club or the player or the position what and who are you alerting?... True, maybe they just want to stop everyone guessing then I guess
  10. Most of those teams play with 1 striker though and they don't have the possibility of losing both their strikers for a month of the season either. That's true and looks like we are looking at January for someone. However we played a lot of games last year with just 1 up front and Ba out to the Left, no difference there and we were better in that formation, I reckon once Pardew realises 4-4-2 is shit he will move back to 4-2-3-1/4-3-3. Acon is an issue but hopefully Ivory coast can sort that out for us - and maybe that's what they are gambling on. They like a gamble
  11. Well we struggled without him for sure So what happens if Ba and Cisse are away in the ACON or both become injured. Shola and Sammy are the only options and they are both injury specialists as well. And unless AC49 explodes like Rooney he's too raw to be put in the mix either. As said, the fact that we have two of the best strikers and the league, as well as one of the best prospects in the country covers up the depth problems we have. Exactly, I just fear an injury crisis upfront and having no suitable backup. Chamakh, Harry Kane, Shola Ameobi, Naismith, Ruiz, Lita. These are the strikers we & those potentially around us are relying on if they lost both their strikers. All much better than what we have. Have you seen Shola's injury record? He's injured now actually. None are better than Shola tbh, Lita/Ruiz/Chamakh certainly not, Kane/Naismith unknown in league

  13. How many other teams around us are in better position for Strikers? Chelsea - Torres/Sturridge/? (Lampard/Hazard/Mata also offer goals) Spurs - Adebayor/Defoe (Van Der Vaart, Siggurdsson, Bale also offer goals) Arsenal - Podolski/Giroud (Arteta/Carzola also for goals?) Everton - Jelavic/Mirallas (Fallaini) Liverpool - Suarez/Borini/Carroll (Gerrard/Sahin/Adam) Us - Cisse/Ba/Shola (Cabaye/Ben Arfa/Marveux?) Are we really that much worse off than teams around us last year - excluded Man U and Man City for obvious reasons
  14. We lost Guthrie/Smith/Lovenkrands/Best - none of which are anywhere near the level of this league. We have replaced Guthrie with Anita, Smith -well didn't need to be, Lovenkrands played left wing alot and we have Amal/Marveux/Jonas/Fergie, Best is the one that should have been kept if we were not sure we would get one - I think they have been after one just refuse to panic buy or match stupid prices, think 15mil for Carroll is stupid. It could be Pardew just keeping everything nice and quiet and playing mind games with Liverpool/Lille/Whoever to say we could not give a fuck if we get these players and won't increase the bids. I actually think Liverpool will crack as its clear they don't want Carroll and need to money generated to buy some players, they only have Borini/Suarez other than Carroll I believe, same situation as us really. Although I don't think we should have wasted going after Carroll, not what we need
  15. But has our squad from last season grown more as players than last year. Depends on Cabaye/Cisse/Ba in second season here. Marveux stepping up, Ben Arfa blitzing the fuck out of the league and Anita adapting. Still have a pretty good first 11, and you would hope a few of our players will kick on from last year and once Cisse/ Ba gets going should be ok. Looking below top 6/7 still don't think any team is as good as what we have in first choice 11. Tbh, wouldn't have sold best necessarily if they were not 100% that a striker was coming in. Would not have kept Lovenkrands though, we have replaced Guthrie with Anita/Bigi. Signed Amalfatino who offers another option (Could argue replaces Lovenkrands as he played left wing alot). It would be nice to go out a sign first choice RB/CB and striker but also as important that we have the same players for next year. I would normally be on this bandwagon of calling names and being furious about lack of activity, but so used to it now I try to look for positives in the team.
  16. Not ideal not getting a striker and right back but tbh not the end of the world assuming we keep the players we have. Don't think Carroll would have been a good signing and would rather we had gone for Zaha or someone similar, young and happy to play second fiddle to Ba/Cisse which I don't think Carroll would have. Right back was main concern and still will be. Simpson is absolute shit but hope that Perch/Tav/Ferguson can force their way into the team at full back to kick Simpson out. We can only hope that Marveux and STaylor stay fit and we don't lose Cisse/Ba through injuries. Will cost us a fortune in January for a striker though if they go to ACON as clubs will know we are desperate. Personally looking forward to seeing Anita/Amalfatino/Bigi/Abedi/Tav/Sammy/Vuckic/Fergie this year, hopefully they all push on and keep the likes of Raylor/Simpson/Oberwank out of team by end of the season
  17. Just booked 3 tickets for this, East stand pretty full, Milburn the same in middle sections. Loads left in Gallowgate and Leazes - reckon 25k max
  18. Qpr seem to be a fucked up club throwing money at any player, don't appear to have any strategy to it, be interesting to see if Hughes can actually make them into a team, suspect not tbh
  19. Rodgers sounds like a fucking idiot like, not from pards school of man management, reckon he has just jumped on Martinez / sousas methods at Swansea and now thinks he knows everything about possession football. I will give him until Christmas. The teams near the top all realise it takes a balance off attack v defence and shape like man city / man utd. He is talking about bringing attackers through n playing them in defence as they can always move back, alot of attacking players can't tackle or track for shit.
  20. Isnt that normally when we sign players. It goes totally quiet and the press are guessing more than normal. Saying that, not confident we will bring anyone in. If we don't I'm not going to get totally pissed off n call dekka, pards and the fat one cunts all the time. Feel they have earned a little bit of respect and do what they feel is right with the blueprint for the club. On the plus side this season we may see a few breakthroughs from younger players and that will boost the squad. Not at all fussed about signing Carroll n would rather sign a younger striker with pace and trickery than him

They just never learn do they, why not let things play out before gloating. I think they truly believe we will roll over and have shit players and squad, whereas we actually have a quality first 11 and enough youth / squad players available, virtually 2 players for each position. Bring it on
  22. Genuinely don't see why we'd need or want him. One of my friends is a city fan, and he says he's nowhere near what he's cracked up to be... "A typical Match Of The Day player"... i.e. does a couple of nice passes, or nice runs in a game, but lacks any real work ethic and hugely inconsistent. We already have good options on the wings anyway. We have two good options on the wings. Johnson and Ben Arfa on each wing would be wanktastic tbh, I know not what we need but would love to see it.
  23. Problem is Bale is going to get in behind him as well. Simpsons biggest problem is his backing off, just confront the fucker. He is our biggest liability in my view
  24. Surprised they could hear him after he had backed off the phone
