  1. It's f***ing mental, and pretty typical of us. Rooney had a pretty poor game on the whole I thought and looked permanently angry throughout, but he set our goal up with a fantastic cross from his left foot. Gerrard and Henderson against Pirlo, Marchisio and De Rossi was always going to be difficult, we don't have any kind of imposing midfielder to stick in there either, but he still kept the ball moving forward whenever he was on it and he was involved a lot. They didn't embarrass themselves but it's not hyperbole to say they were poor. Gerard was anonymous, Baines was prob the worst of all our players and Rooney was tournament Rooney. It was rather like watching us at a much higher level to be honest. Round pegs and square holes, We were totally over run In midfield as Italy always had a spare man They dominated possession but I felt we were the more dangerous tbh. Both sides had good chances I felt Italy out played us and deserved to win tbh. Outplayed seems very harsh to me.

  3. Sturridge. In one. It's arguable at best. Though they traditionally play in different positions and it's misleading to suggest we have more than one better than Rooney. No it isn't arguable in the slightest. Daniel Sturridge did more in one game than Wayne Rooney has in any tournament since 2004. So you're saying it is arguable. Not. You need to look up the definition of the word then, mate. What are you talking about?
  4. It was the best and brightest England performance at a tournament for a while. It shows how low our stock has fallen though that people are proud of it.

  6. I thought both full backs were naff but Baines moreso.
  7. I don't think you can change the whole system you've built for two years just to accommodate a player who clearly doesn't cut it at the very top level.
  8. We definitely suffered by not having Ashley Cole there. I felt Mourinho jettisoned him prematurely and Woy has to the detriment of the team followed suit.

  10. Agree wholeheartedly. He can be whatever he wants to be.
  11. And Wayne Rooney is certainly wasted in a wide position. It however is unfortunate for him that we have better centre forwards than him now and thus Sturridge must play and Rooney must drop to the bench.
  12. Steven Gerrard didn't have his best England game having watched it again, but neither was he shite as some are saying. He's playing a mundane role and to be fair to him hardly gave the ball away at all as Hans said. But to be clear im not saying he was good either, 6/10 performance.
  13. Yep. The old guard of Gerrard etc. weren't good enough in their prime but they're doing a nurturing job and like you say 2016 onwards should be even better. If this squad is being thrown together for 2016/2018 in mind then Gerrard shouldn't be in the squad. You would run the risk of ruining the young uns without an experienced nucleus guiding them. It's why Lampard is there. And it's why Ashley Cole should've been there. In hindsight Ashley Cole probably should have started On a serious not that Candreva was quality, who the f*** is he? Candreva is actually a rather average player imo (at this level), but he got loads of space and Baines didn't look the part either. How many times have you seen him at this level Flip?

We wouldn't have lost that game with Ashley Cole playing.

  16. Or better still. Drop him.

  18. Im in this boat too. We look very bright going forward save the ginger elephant in the roon. Time to put him out to pasture.
  19. what? Take no notice. ....most the forrins are gloating . Even ones who ain't even qualified.
  20. Rooney hasn't been that bad IMO. At least he is involved and looks like he gives a f*** He's been f***ing dire. Gerrard has been poor too but not as bad. Gerrard has been way worse. He's done nothing He's a holding midfielder [emoji1].
  21. Phil Neville in a mirror image of his playing career in punditry by not being in the same class as his brother.
  22. Rooney hasn't been that bad IMO. At least he is involved and looks like he gives a fuck He's been fucking dire. Gerrard has been poor too but not as bad.
