  1. It's Graham Taylor mate. The style of football that man had his teams play, Pardew probably has his picture on his wall next to the Harry Bassett one.
  2. Im going to be the first to say it. You can never write off the Germans.
  3. At least he'll never let us down by getting stupidly sent off or owt..............
  4. He's likeable, English, well over 60 and a good manager. Is that what you mean? He could've meant that we may get somewhere in spite of the manager like we did in 86 and 90.
  5. Even worse I recall watching the vast majority of it as a legal drinker in the pub.
  6. Not really considering how the game was played in 1990 and ultimately he never made contact and any injury was feigned... Today it's a certain yellow though granted... It was a genuine attempt at the ball and Berthold's reaction certainly got Gazza booked, agreed. Enjoyed the 90 World Cup merely because of the England progress but overall, entertainment wise it wasn't a good one.
  7. Just watching the 1970 one currently. Makes you appreciate just how good some players were. Brazil's attacking force, man. Pele, Jairzinho, Tostao, Rivelino.... totally unnecessary. The England squad of 70 was better than the 66 one....had it not been for Banks being nobbled along with Ramsey not quite ever grasping substitutions, we'd have given Brazil a close game in the Final. Seen a film of this before and it's a great tournament.
  8. Could you tell me what he actually does?
  9. He's a decent Premier League centre half, man. He's absolutely nowhere near as bad as you make out. As for the Monday Night Football mention - we played on a Monday night just once in the second half of the season, against Arsenal. Granted, he had a poor game but against a team with the style of Arsenal he was basically doing the job of 3 men with Williamson & Dummett alongside him. We were barely noteworthy in the second half of the season so I'm doubtful Neville & Carragher even gave us much of a mention in the coverage of other teams games. Mind the MNF against Everton when he was literally frightened of Lukaku wasn't good viewing. He ran away from the ball ffs. He's on about Colo. Yup.Colo has been guilty of being shit scared of the opposition strike force on more than one occasion too.

  11. Excellent post Mr B. Couldn't get it any more spot on.
  12. When it matters, ie major tournaments, except for his very first tournament, Wayne Rooney has been found wanting. That's fact and it's why he won't go down as one the alltime greats. Though he can still change that perception of him.
  13. That's King Juan Carlos We're still stuck with King Juan Kerr King Juan Nil Maxi de Fendo He's wank, our boss.
