You and your Gerrard love, man. He was average at best. I thought his leadership was superb and he kept things ticking over, he also didn't over try the Hollywood passes. It was the kind of England performance that I've been wanting to see from Lumplard for years but unfortunately he hasn't Gerrard's quality, either technically in that position, or indeed mentally.

Really do think that's harsh on Ox, he and Glen Johnson were the only ones to show any real endeavour going forward imo - Cole to a lesser extent, but then we barely used him. Ox beat his man on a few occasions and played a few neat passes. I wouldn't give the Mackem 3 either.

Incidentally, the ref was a bit of a Francophile was he not? Absolutement peeeessss poor.

I totally disagree on every point you've made there.

Pleasantly surprised by England but in reality, that's the game that suited our tactics of sitting deep, when we have to get on the front foot is when we will struggle ,I fear. I thought Gerrard was excellent as were all of the back 4 including Johnson, and Welbeck was very good up front. Once again, I don't believe fucking Henderson actually touched the ball in his 15 minutes, how he's anywhere near the squad is utterly beyond me, surely a better and more worthwhile selection would be Leon Osman? But in the main a good battling performance, with infinitely more positivity than South Africa.

Terry's an old fashioned centre half and a good leader of men, not sure he'll be afforded the respect he once had from his team-mates with his goings-on, and I wouldn't have taken him....he's been found wanting too often in the last 18 months on the pitch also.

And yet they, in their surroundings at the time, couldn't bring themselves to sing Paradise.

How about Spurs legend of the 60's and 70's, Joe Kinnear?

That's ridiculous. I'm not a fan of Terry but to say 3 black players weren't picked because of him is sensationalism at its extreme. I didn't say that. What I meant was that Hodgson would be (even subconsciously) looking for the most united squad possible, and obviously sees Terry as undroppable. That sounds exactly like what Incognito suggested you were saying. Ridiculous. You've basically said three black players haven't been selected because of Terry. Ferdinand hasn't been selected because of Terry, that I have no doubt about, but Lennon and Richards too? Not a chance. Exactly what I believed Ian meant.

He's done us a favour with Bridge tbh.

G-Bar in Liverpool is a Gay bar is it not? I know its worng of me, but the idea of Joey getting 7 shades kicked out of him by a couple of screaming Alan Carr's is hilarious He'd been in Garlands not Gbar apparently. Both gay clubs but half the people in them aren't gay. Clubbing is not really my scene but from the few times I've been, Garlands seems to get more scallys in. Gbar is open really late so as spence said, people go there when they're off their face & don't want to go home til like 8am. These two lads were probably scallys who were in Garlands at the same time as him and ended up having words. Would be a far better episode if the 2 were homosexuals though.

When he was alive my granda used to always go on about Walker and said he was absolutely brilliant. Don't know if it is true or not but he said he was never the same player after playing over in Italy. Something to do with the Sampdoria manager playing him at left back. I think it may have been Sven.

Walker was superb 89 through to 93 . A very under rated centre back . Without doubt the quickest centre back I've seen.
-
It's all opinions mate. I totally disagree with yours, and you disagree with mine, Adams was an inspirational skipper and solid centre half for England after a few hiccups early in his England career.
-
Not quite sure what you're implying here? I'm merely using my 30+ years of watching football and coming up with 4 names who in my opinion have been better for England than Rio.
-
Butcher Adams Walker Campbell All better than Rio imo. Moreso the first 3. And add Dave Watson to those too.

Only 1 of the two has ever had a good tournament for England. They were both ok in 2004. They've both been shit ever since in tournaments tbh.

You said he was better than Tiote last year zolton. Changed your tune now he's leaving eh?

Gerrard in yet another England man of the match performance. He has done so much more for England than Frankie Bleakley.

Villa really don't do well with Scottish managers.

Now I know why your username is so.
