  1. He went down like the titanic. The goal wasn't his fault though.
  2. We'll no doubt be sweating again after the next two, but this an absolutely massive win. The effects of a defeat would have been horrible.
  3. Immense performance today, he's the man.
  4. The ban is a pain but what he did was for the best. 3 points in this game is massive.
  5. I would be tempted to hoy Ranger on for Lovenkrands fairly soon, their defence looks awful.
  6. Mark Hughes? Wayne Rooney? Carlos Tevez? All pretty thick set. TV puts 10lbs on you as well. He is anything but fat and by all accounts is the fittest player at the club. The working men's club?

Disagree. CH had the benefit of being in charge in the early days of the season, before the tough match program started to take its toll. Under CH everybody was fresh and ready to go. He had plenty of players to choose from. As the season develops, injuries and fatigue increased. Accordingly, Pardew doesn't have the same luxury as CH did. He got plenty of injuries, and unlike CH he has just s*** replacements. And that also puts and extra pressure on the the remaining quality players. In other words, our current injury situation got nothing to do with CH og Pardew, but more with our squad lacking depth. We're not able to rotate, and that hurts. We played 46+ games in the Championship, all under Hughton. And our squad was still looking alright come the end of the season. TBF though, the Championship was a stroll compared to the Premier League. With a lot more games. Yeah, can't argue with that, but I think it's the intensity of the Premier League that makes it much more physically demanding. The majority of the games in the Champ were fairly straightforward, let's face it. Also, that division placed less demands on our second-rate reserve players so we wouldn't feel injuries as much in terms of results.

We only missing one or two more players than most other clubs in the league, and that's including Gosling who we signed with a long-term injury and Ben Arfa who sustained a freak broken leg. This idea we have an unusually-high amount of injuries just doesn't stack up IMO. What we do have is a lack of decent replacements.
  10. The club injured him so they didn't have to pay him.

I rated Hughton highly, and always supported him, but I don't think there's any reason to criticise Pardew for our current injuries. That's all.
  12. I'm sure sports journos just pluck club names out of thin air.
  13. I thought he recovered from the injury he had when he arrived fairly rapidly, then sustained another completely different injury?

I'd be happy to give him all the credit if there was any evidence for it. Just for argument's sake, 4 injuries under Hughton followed by 7 under Pardew doesn't mean anything. Especially since Hughton was in charge at the start of a season and Pardew at the end of one.

Just bad luck innit. FWIW Best is only listed as a 'slight doubt' on physioroom.
  16. I don't mind him at all, I just fear for our lack of mobility and physical presence when he's paired with Nolan. I'll support him though, I think he's a decent player.
  17. Nolan and Guthrie in central midfield makes me want to cry TBH, but the alternatives aren't much better I suppose.

Got one of those ducks on my desk!
  19. Desperate for three points from this like, would be a massive boost right now. Probably why I'm so nervous about the game.
