Cheers, looks different to what I was expecting. I thought all of Leazes corner was the same bracket. Also ballot doesn't mention family area so I don't know how that works. Category 2 looks biggest, but Gallowgate also has most ST holders. Fuck knows basically.

I think the most common were the cheap ones before, that's why I used to always go in the Leazes corner. But I don't know for sure.

I thought the point was you couldn't judge it just by attendance, but rather by ability, access, etc etc. Anyway, it's not a productive discussion, soz.

Nothing, that’s the most important point. Just in the context of access to tickets, we were discussing loyalty as a way to give easier access. Of course you’re right, in the general sense of the word there’s no way to judge who is the more deserving fan.

I know, like I said I don’t want to compare fans. But since we were talking about loyalty I wanted to highlight the strangeness of our current situation. Unfortunately the very existence of season tickets, loyalty points and memberships creates a hierarchy. For access to tickets if nothing else.

Loyalty is an extremely difficult thing to asses in our current situation, since it was arguably more loyal not to attend a match in the last few seasons. You could argue that people who stayed away are better fans than those who went. Not that I like to compare fans, but the conventional way to assess loyalty doesn’t really work. Obviously I wish I had taken up a ST under Ashley now. But it didn’t have anything to do with ‘getting beat every week’. It was because the existence of the club was irrelevant.

Isn’t £44 the cheapest? I don’t know the family enclosure prices from last season, I assumed it replaced the £38+ you used to get in places like Leazes corner.

I would think a lot of people would want a season ticket anyway, if they were available. Memberships would be for people who only want to go a few times a season.

FWIW I’ve had memberships of at least 3 other PL clubs. Mainly when I didn’t want to follow Newcastle, but still, it’s an easy way to access a ticket. It’s more risky in a ballot obvs.

The prices also seem worse than they are because everyone is worrying about being charged £74. Or being forced to pay for a seat they don’t want.

I’m still not sure whether this is about money or just incompetence TBH. To price people out they have just out up prices and kept the queue. Feels to me like they’ve tried to make it fairer for people who can’t log on at 10am but ended up with an absolutely horrific solution. That’s either because of thick people making the decisions or limits of the technology. Or both. Guess either way it’s a disaster, and obvs you’re not wrong about modern football.
