  1. Thats enough for me tbh.. Where i live almost everyone watchs the La-Liga and the Serie-A,when even there is a debate about the "best" league in the world its always between those two, they EPL is not even considered!,just to mention that the EPL (may, might,is ) better will cause you to go to endless debate's with almost everyone..who don't understand s*** about football So its in MY best intrest if premiership teams win,Would much rather see Liverpool,Manchester,Arsenal and even Chelsea win it then to see Barcelona,Madrid or Milan win it.. . probably because La Liga and Serie A are much better. The English top 4 are as good as anyone elses, but the overall strength and depth of the Prem compared to other European leauges falls well short in my opinion. It clogged up with to much shite; bolton, watford, fulham, wigan, reading, blackburn etc... all content to play shit football, pick up enough points to survive and reap the financial rewards. The clubs representing England in the European cup are not really representative of the whole league in my opinion. Overall, theres far more entertainment and quality to be found in Spain, and probably more quality (though not entertainment) in Italy.
  2. I personally couldn't give a shit how the premiership is 'represented.' The way I see it the negligable benefits to Newcastle of having English teams doing well are more than countered by the down sides - our rivals extra revenue from prize money, shirt sales in Asia, attractivness to better players who have to play against us every week etc... If Liverpool/Chelsea/Arsenal/Man U win the Champions Leauge (God Forbid) they would get far more money, and be a much more attractive proposition to better players. Lets see how happy everone is if Liverpool winning the European Cup allows them to sign David Villa and he scores a few winners against us next season? Who'll come on here and say 'Ah well, at least our Co-Efficients a bit higher,' or 'it doesnt matter, theres another Uefa Cup place.' Not to mention having to hear them bang on about it for the next 20 years. Anyway, all thats irrelevant because supporting football teams is about emotion and nowt else. I absolutely hate Man U and Liverpool with a passion, I hate their fans, players, the places, everything. I was absolutely gutted when Liverpool won it, or Man U won it in '99. Im also not mad on anyone else still in Europe - imagine the Media's wankfest if Arsenal had won the Champions Leauge last season? It'd do my head in. My point is personally I could'nt support any English clubs in Europe I hate normally - the things I hate about them still exist.
  3. "Tell all the boys you know, Newcastle are going to Glasgow! We've been to Germany, we've been to Italy and we'll lift the cup in Glasgow! Tell all the boys..." cheers mate. im at uni in glasgow so I can see that one being sung quite a bit. I finish in june so a final at hampden would be a sweet ending to my time up here. Cant see me getting the deposit back on my flat if we do get there though, cos ill be throwing my doors open.
  4. Can anyone post the words to the glasgow uefa cup song please? been hearing it alot but can never make out the bit that comes after the first 'were gonna lift the cup in glasgow,' bit. sorry to go off topic but I didnt want to start a new thread...
  5. if it's true Joey Bartons got a 5.5 million release clause id take him over Reo-Coker in the summer. He's twice the player. Managed to shine and score goals in a piss-poor city side, while reo-cokers done fuck all this season, except trying to get Pardew the sack (allegedly.)
  6. roeder or shepherd, for all their faults, should definatly get credit for signing martins. I cant remember a player whos adapted so quickly to the premiership, especially when you consider he was a young African playing a bit part role in a Italian team, and African and Italian styles of football are surely two of the most different to the Prem. However we've also got to accept theres was a certain amount of luck in getting him - Inter just signed two new forwards becuse of the Italian football scandal and without that he wouldnt have requested a transfer and anyway, we could have the best scouting network in the world and we might not find another obafemi martins. my point is weve found a gem, and we should fight to keep him. our aim should be to build the team around players like oba, not sell them, and were only going to do that strenghening the defense.
  7. Of course standing would make for a better atmousphere. I don't know about anyone else but im certainly more likely to sing or try and get chants started if Im with my mates, who are guaranteed to join in. I think thats one of the reasons there's always better/louder/more original songs at away matches, although obviously the drink is also a factor. I must know at least 20 or 30 people at each match, but everyones all over the ground. If there was a standing section, everyone could stand next to who they wanted, instead of some of the miserable ignorant twats we all get stuck with every week. I really can't see how terracing isn't allowed when you see the front of some gigs, where people getting trampled, fainting etc is expected. But regardless ill be dead in the cold hard earth before ill ever vote for the tories.

    Song for Sib

how about just using the shola song? everyone brings those skull caps they use for swimming and sings; ya put ya bald heed in, ya bald heed oot, in, oot, in oot, shake it all aboot, ya de the sibierski and ya score a goal, thats what its all about, SING! ooooooooooh antione sibierski...
  9. I cant believe noones mentioned Warren Barton - never hid, though sometimes I wished he would. and I thought Acuna was a cracking little player, I remember when we had loads of injuries and Robson played Hughes defensive mid away to Fulham and Clarence sat on the bench, couldn't believe that. I never did manage to get the Acuna-am-a-tata song out of the lion king started though...
  10. What a ridiculous topic. Drop Parker because he doesn't create enough? hes scored 2 leauge goals, which is more than the rest of our midfield put together. admitedly hes no Gazza going forward at least he makes the odd dangerous looking forward run, his burst against boro for example should have won us the game if milner hadn't missed that sitter that resulted from it. Anyway its not his job to create, his job is to break things up and harry the opposition, a job just as important and one he does superbly. I dont want to harp on about emre, but what exactly is it emre does that parker doesnt? it seems all the criticisms aimed at scotty apply to emre to a greater extent. sideways or backwards uninspiring passing for example, lack of the killer ball etc.... And while people are going on as if butt had some kind of blinder, I think its worth remembering his header back towards our own goal could have put us behind tonight. I just think its another case of people criticising our outstanding and most popular player because they think it makes them appear more knowledgeable, they think there giving off the impression the must know or see things the rest of us dont. It happened with shearer when he was still scoring 25+ a season, Ive heard it happening with Given and it seems to be happening with Parker now too. I know footballs all about opinions but in my eyes its as clear as day Scott Parker has been our best and most important player this season, and to even consider dropping him is madness - remember what happened against Fulham when he went off for the last 10 minutes? In my opinion his attitute, leadership and work rate, as well as ability, are some of the very few things we've had to be proud of this season.
  11. its got to the stage where something clearly needs to be done about fat fred, and I dont believe fan pressure would have no effect. however, in my opinion another internet campaign isnt the way to go. the money would be spent much better on flyers (nowt flash just black & white photocopies) which people could hand out before the next home match. theres some decent writers on this board and anyone interested could contribute a short article and we could set up a vote to decide on the best. These flyers could basically state how much shephard and hall take out the club, list the numerous fuck ups shepherd has been responsible for and basically get the ball rolling, spread awareness that there are fans willing to organise serious protests, given a decent amount of interest.
