In fact I doubt the FA have much influence over the coaching of potential pro footballers at all. The problem and the solution lies with the clubs. Until they start playing creative and inventive football the youngsters coming through the ranks will never be much more than athletes in football boots. Unfortunately the price of failure in the PL is now so high that playing anything other than negative percentage football is a huge risk. You could argue, the fault lies earlier, if we produced our own "Mikel Arteta" we wouldn't need to go buy one would we?

Rubbish. He's look knackered since the final day of the season and it's fairly obvious to even the most biased of supporters that he hasn't gotten over the knock he had in May. He worked his backside off every game but just wasn't very effective. Unfortunately for England, Rooney gives that much to his club team during the regular season that he's shattered by the summer. This probably explains why Gerrard looked so lively, as he did bugger all for Liverpool last season. If thats the case then, Capello should have went for Defoe and Crouch who play together week in week out. And are Pretty handy. Use Rooney as an impact player.

You watched a different match to me. James was certainly not happy and also Johnson for the 1st and 2nd. Quite clearly bemused with the defending Yeah, sure they all looked bemused but i didn't see anyone correcting or reminding each other not to do s*** like that. Learning to play in tight areas. Teaching kids formations, tactics blah blah. Get the basics of the game first. ITS CALLED FOOTBALL FOR A REASON.
