If O'Leary goes there, I feel really bad for them (in as much as one can express solidarity with them on here), but you know what I mean.
-
True fact. Zilina drew with Prague today. If Hamburg win or draw (0-0 at HT), Villa are through, with two games to play. Bit silly.
-
I wouldn't. It takes a lot more than that. Namely, time.

When do you think Michael Owen will leave Newcastle United?
brummie replied to LoveItIfWeBeatU's topic in Football
Yup. I imagine we'll go all out to flog him in January. As a result we'll be lucky to get £7m. Surely if he's a free agent in the summer, you'll get nowhere near 7m for him in January? -
Thought we were ok in the second half. Good to see us not gift them 3 points as usual. I hate this fixture. I never go to it.

A few observations. 1. That sounds shit. 2. 50 Cent is a cunt. 3. Ashley Cole is a cunt. 4. Rio Ferdinand is the biggest cunt of the lot.

In times gone by, when they were in the top flight, QPR consistently brought the smallest numbers. 150 or so. Mind you, this was in the 1980s, when lots of clubs would take a few hundred.
-
In fairness, they didn't sit at our place. The weirdest example we see of decent numbers but large scale sitting is Everton, who always seem to sit. Really odd. I'm not really a fan of the situation viz a viz standing at the moment (worst of both worlds) but I really can't remember the last time I went to an away game and sat.

Liverpool's away support seems to have a much higher quota of jester hat wearing, once a season southerners than Man United's does.

I like Chelseas away fans if the tickets get in the right hands if not it's full of mongs. Chelsea's fans were better in the 1980s when there'd be 500 of them. There'd at least be 500 who cared. Not like nowadays. They've failed to sell 3000 tickets at our place the last three years at least. That's not really that impressive, considering how many kids you see around in Chelsea shirts, and the level of consistent success they've had of late.

It doesn't help when we have to play at Newcastle on a week day night. The performance didn't help, either. I'd say that the best away supporters I've seen at Villa Park for a while were Ajax. Although apparently they did a fair amount of damage in the ground, ripped seats out etc etc, they were really noisy and kept on the whole match. Man United, loathe them though I do, are consistently the loudest. Spurs aren't too bad, either. Newcastle were noisy until we went ahead then lost interest. Special mentions for being shit - Everton (lots of them, but they sit in silence), Man City (three choruses of Blue Moon then nothing), and Liverpool, who were silent. Sunderland, you won't want to hear, are consistently good, but has there ever been a club whose fans talk about what great crowds they get and how many they take away more than they do?
-
whats your opinion on the falling crowds then ? Mine is that its down to the apathy, lack of positive direction and and the knowledge that we have owners that have zero ambition. Isn't that what the thread is about, or are you like melanchronic and only want to take part in debates that you agree with ? Not in any way connected with the current harsh economic situation? I'm not disputing any of the reasons you put forward (I'm not qualified to do so, and thus wouldn't try) but football doesn't exist in a vacuum.

I'm sort of relieved at times I don't have access to Sky Sports programmes, due to the constant commentary from such pugnacious, uninformed, gobs***e cretins such as Mr Gray. When i was 10 years old, Andy Gray was (along with Sir Brian Little) my hero, I absolutely loved that man, as did pretty much everyone I knew. Fast forward 30 years and I honestly wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire.

If we go down, we will be getting 15-25000 next season. No you won't.
-
Attendances are down everywhere. Not really surprising. If i hadn't paid for my ST in the early summer, I'd have thought seriously about how many matches I'd be attending about now. This will be the first recession in the era of sky high football prices, it will be very interesting to see what happens.

Rob Styles. Fuck me, has there ever been a worse referee? He did our match last week and got pretty much everything wrong for 90 minutes. Then there was that bizarre decision at Bolton today. Absolute joke.
-
We're so fucking unpredictable. Shambolic last week against Blackburn, awful against you lot, shite against Boro, but excellent against Ajax and in Prague and then excellent today.

Are they gonna be really really tired for the rest of the season or what? a legit question imo wasnt that what you said after the game a st. james too? Which is why I'm going to stick to my prediction of Villa being unable to compete effectively on both the domestic and European front. Pleased to see them doing well in Europe and I genuinely hope they get far. But, I just can't see them getting past, say the quarters of the UEFA cup, AND finish 5th. I speak from last season's experience, unfortunately. Which is also pretty much what I've been saying on here all season. We could do well in the UEFA, we could feasibly finish 5th in the league, but we're not going to break the top four, not this season. For me it is about finishing 5th or 6th and cementing our position in the "best of the rest" group. Whether we'll finish 5th or do well in the UEFA or neither, I honestly don't know, but you'd struggle to find a Villa fan who really thinks we're going to do great things in the league this year.

Are they gonna be really really tired for the rest of the season or what? a legit question imo wasnt that what you said after the game a st. james too? Well, being as the game at St James' was only 6 days ago, and since then we've played a UEFA cup match in Prague, you don't really need to have the cognitive power of Stephen Hawking to work out that, yes, it might still be a problem. Your squad isn't any bigger than ours and you're finding out how hard it is when you have a dozen extra games a season. With the money spent in the Summer he should have brought in more players. He shoudl certainly have brought in another striker, which is our most obvious weakness at the moment.

What has he actually said? He hasn't said there was any thing racist. Strikes me that 1. FA asked Villa if they want to take it further. 2. Villa say there is nothing to take any further. 3. Subject should end, but doesn't, as the tabloids keep raking it up. Blame the tabloids for this, not Agbonlahor. Although Hmmm.
