Oh man I was ready to start jumping up and down here at work. One of the phrases that should NEVER be used unless we've scored a goal.

The following phrases cause mass premature exclamation and confusion, and should only be used in case of goal:

Get in!

Yes!

Goal!

[LAST NAME OF PLAYER]! (for example: "OWEN!")

There are others, but please god, use those only case of goal. if you don't, then do not pass go, do not collect $200, go directly to jail.

I can't speak for anyone else, but for me this is very much an Anyone-but-Liverpool year.

Hate them all obviously, but honestly, the reason to hate the Mancs less is that they at least try to play football. It's simply easy on the eyes-they never seem to win by total luck like Liverpool, or by turning the game into a rugby match like Chelsea. They all have massive assholes on their teams, it's pretty hard to pick who's worse between Ronaldo/Rooney or Terry/Drogba or Carragher/Gerrard. If I'm going to pick the lesser of evils, I then have to pick on which team I'd like to see win regardless of the personalities.

it's just amazing to me to see us simply look a class side. not just outplaying stoke, but 100% outclassing them. if I didn't know I was watching newcastle, it would seem like i was watching a game between a big 4 type team against a bottom of the table type team. clicking on all cylinders right now.

 

I don't mean to imply we are that good. It's just showing flashes of that kind of quality, and can see the possibility of showing even more of it. Makes it all the more frustrating when we don't show this kind of quality.

enrique goes on a run, zog crosses it, almost scores from it

the thing about having zog playing like this is that it WORKS with owen and martins. the combination clearly works, providing the right kind of service for these kinds of strikers. hopefully kinnear notices.

rock solid central defense so far, especially bassong, playing very safe and solid. beye a bit shaky at times, enrique/duff nonexistent on defense, bosingwa is raping them. owen is playing up against our own box on defense, by necessity, leaving martins alone up top-and martins has had terrible touch. butt simply doesn't have the pace to keep up in this game, too bad we have to play him.

Ummm no. Given's made four or so saves. Lampard ought to have two already.

just because it was a save doesn't mean he should have scored. a goalkeeper is out there for a reason. It's really only a should have scored if he has the keeper beaten or hits the post or a situation where only a huge mistake or immense save stops a clear goal chance. I've only seen one of those chances really, due to good defense in tough situations.

good defense colocinni, made lampards shot very tough.

so far, it's been mostly half chances. chelsea has dominated, but not like so far it's been save after save, or hitting posts. chelsea have actually looked more dangerous on the counter so far, lightning fast.

This game is being played totally in our box. Not just in our half, but in our box.
