  1. No. Bergen, Norway

Do Charlie Miller and Robbie Winters still play for Brann Bergen?

I remember both of them from their Dundee Utd days.  Winters was a tricky winger in those days but he ended up playing as a striker.  I always felt that he left Utd too early but Aberdeen offered us a stupid amount of money + Billy Dodds for him so we had no choice but to let him go.

Charlie Miller was the biggest waste of talent i've ever seen in my life.  He was far to fond of the beer and cigarettes to realise his potential.

The amount of times i've heard my scottish mates say that about x scottish footballer is unreal...

    Too many to mention.

Charlie got away with it because he was good enough to stand out in the SPL whilst coasting along at 60% with a raging hangover.  He could have won 50 caps for Scotland if he'd applied himself but his head was fuckin burst.

  3. I can't believe I haven't noticed this thread yet

Maybe some of you punters will be able to clear up a bit of confusion for me.

At the start of the season I put on a £1 accumulator for the winners of the four English leagues as follows : -

    Man Utd 5/4

    Charlton 6/1

    Notts Forest 5/1

    MK Dons 8/1

I'd forgotten all about it until I noticed that they were all at least within three points of the top of their divisions.  I worked out that i'd get £301 back if all four win but when I enter the odds into Ladbrokes online bet calculator it tells me that my return would be £850.50  :kasper:

Can anybody confirm what i'd get back if all four were to win their leagues?

    The latter.

    Cheers for that

Fuckin hell I didn't think it would be as much as all that when I put it on.  A lot still has to happen yet though, I suppose.

  5. I watched the Spurs game but ended up watching it with the sound turned right down.  The commentary was dreadful.

When there were two balls on the pitch because of a mix up with ball rotation at a throw-in the ref stopped play and declared a bounce ball.  The commentator says "I don't understand the referee here, why doesn't he just let them take the throw in again?"

How about because the rules say it's a bounce ball?

    :crazy2:

  6. You know what I don't get.

Games like the Mighty Blues vs the Forces of Darkness or Liverpool vs Everton. These are what I call derbies. Where the teams are from the same place and the support is intermingled, sometimes even between families.

But Newcastle vs Sunderland. Is that the same thing? Two teams from two distinct places, close as they are? How many Newcastle fans have Sunderland fans for workmates, neighbors, or grandads? I doubt its many.

Newcastle vs Sunderland, Soton vs Pompey, Norwich vs Ipswich etc, are not derbies. They are rivalries. Discuss.

Well. They might be derbies as I'm not sure as to what the exact definition of the word is. But they are different? ???

(See also, Barcelona vs Real Madrid "El Derby" equals biggest derby in the world. No it f****** isnt. Its 300 and odd f****** miles away.)

The derby where I come from is Dundee Utd v Dundee but I wouldn't say I hate, nor even dislike Dundee fans.  My Dad supports them, some of my drinking mates support them as do some of my work colleagues and both sets of fans drink together before derby matches.  That's why I don't understand Old Firm fans hating eachother so much on match days that they have to be segregated outside the ground to prevent the stabbings and murders that have happened in the past - then they go into work on Monday morning and work with eachother.  It's all a little bit silly imo.

Dundee Utd fans share more of a mutual dislike with Aberdeen than we do with Dundee.  I can understand inter-city dislike among fans because there's more than just football dividing you.

  7. I can understand people's annoyance at fans not getting behind the team but ultimately it's not the fans' fault that the team is crap.

It's the fans fault for buying a ticket to the football when they really should've got one to the Pantomime instead.

People can do whatever they want.  If buying a ticket then leaving early is what floats their boat then that's their decision.

Personally, I just think that there are other parties who are more culpable, and therefore more deserving of criticism, than the fans for the current situation.
