I've been thinking about this actually and wondering if Ashley would sanction advance spending of the seasons guaranteed TV money this time, or some of it anyway? I mean there's 70m or guaranteed at the end of the season regardless of what happens and pretty soon the deals go up and prices will go up along with it. If I was them I'd be spending now on a team that can play together for the next 2-3 years and then only having to fill minor gaps after the new deal kicks in. It would also get shitloads of people back onside, regardless of the fact he could just turn off the taps from then on in and start selling players when they come good again. Wage bill will probably be an issue mind, they've got to lose a lot of the dead wood.

2 years left aye? It's so f***ing inevitable which way it'll go like 1 year isn't it? .com have it as 2 years. Yeah, this is definitely not his last year, iirc it was a year with extension from the clubs side or something like that.

It comes down to whether you believe the players are all awful or don't give a shit (remember those conversations from the season after finishing 5th?) or that collectively they've just not got a clue how to play together because they've been coached anti-football for years. I know which I believe, because I believe that out of Krul, Janmaat, Colo, Haidara, Anita, Colback, Abeid, Tiote, Sissoko, Aarons, Cabella, Cisse, and now Wijnaldum, Mitrovic and maybe Mbemba there is more than enough to mould a functioning team, perhaps not a great one, but one that can actually function. I'm probably forgetting players as well. MYM was "pony" let's not forget, as was HBA and Santon, and they were peddled out of the club because a certain silver haired lunatic managed to convince people it was the individuals at fault and not the system they were working under. I'm deeply concerned that McLaren at present appears to be sticking with giving chance after chance to Gouffran, Obertan, Williamson and so on. -

we played a backline of bigi, satka, ferguson and aarons man, oh yeah and darlow in goals who appears to be playing the wrong sport, maybe he's a hockey keeper or something I'm pretty sure half the Timbers B team hitchhiked to the match, man. Shouldn't be losing to teams at this level. Well, fair point but 3 of three goals came from big blokes heading in against tiny people in the wrong positions. As I said earlier mind, back 5 aside we should have been belting goals of our own in, but it looks like it's going to take a very long time to rid these players of the Pardew effect. -

was it a fake pitch aye? looked like it probably didn't want to risk injuries to anyone he thinks he might actually need back there i'd imagine, considering how woefully light we are in defence -

You noticed him, so he didn't play like Colback, can't get any less damning than that.

Aye, people crying out for a winger next should be made to watch that. Probably 2 CB's and a versatile FB required plus the forced ejection of Williamson and Taylor. -

Nice one Schteve. Again. He's f***ing godawful. correct me if i'm wrong but he was playing DM in front of a defence containing satka, ferguson, bigi and aarons with gouffran as one of his midfield partners as well aye, sell immediately, in fact he can go for nowt and we'll still pay his wages would have him in the team ahead of colback every day of the week

Yep. Forgetting the fact McLaren chose to not bother with a defence we should have been able to get at them with ease but they don't know how to attack as a unit at all, we're still fucking horrible at everything. -

I revise my opinion because he's clearly going to be playing Abeid and/or Bigi at the back isn't he? Probably Abeid CB and Bigi RB? -

Actually interested in watching that team play for a change -
Tell you what mind, with a team around him and therefore not being crowded out by three players whenever he has the ball Cabella is capable of putting in very crosses like, I think he'll like playing with Mitrovic when he gets the chance. He'll love having something to aim at.

Same here, just no viable takers that I can see either Don't think we can afford to lose him either. Probably not, but if we lost him and replaced with Shaqiri or Thauvin or just a genuine quality winger with work rate then it's a no brainer. It's fine keeping him to play wide and backup cm but he generally offers little in the middle so let's just get a winger.
-
Same, I'd not seen it either, reprehensible cunt

Better get over there like, before he disrupts the entire club and his team mates all fucking hate him cause he doesn't track back.
-
It always has been. I'll literally never get over this Same, wish I'd never watched that.
-
Tactical though right, played well over 20 games and was used to enforce his physicality and help close things out iirc I mean as opposed to him just not being liked, McLaren used him in a very narrow role
-
I don't think we'll sell him unless we get good money so I reckon he will still be here. Suspect the same, who the hell will pay double figures for him? We'll probably get double what we'd get now with proper coaching and him playing central. I am worried Mclaren sees him on the right though. There only 3 central spots though, and going off others opinions it doesn't sound like Sissoko-Wij would work as a 2, and Wij I assume is a guaranteed starter. So you either drop De Jong or Sissoko, or play Sissoko out right which isn't ideal, but I wouldn't say it'd be a travesty of Shola up front Cisse on the wing proportions. Can't see Sissoko reacting well to being dropped to the bench in a Euro's year either. Making more and more sense to sell and reinvest in a proper right winger if we can get a good price. Just a shame De Jong's injury record is so pants. if we're looking to keep the ball more sissoko should not be playing You can keep the ball by passing it sideways and backwards. To score goals though you do need players who will drive forward and look to get in the box to support the strikers. that's wijnaldum's role though surely? you need a mix like, i get it, but if sissoko is staying he'll expect to be starting more often than not and i'm not sure he's right for us playing through the centre unless given a yaya sort of role with licence to get forward and 2 covering him, but that would surely clash with where we presumably intend to play de jong I think Sissoko will be played on the right side of midfield, I don't think either Wijnaldum or De Jong can do that role. They'll be vying for the central positions along with Anita and Colback. how are you seeing that line up like, 4-4-2 or 4-5-1/4-3-3 mitrovic de jong aarons wijnaldum colback () sissoko something like that? Yes basically that. I can't see who else would go out wide on the right unless we are going to make another signing. million ways you can cut our options like, and for me until de jong actually does something i'd not have him in them....swap cabella in for aarons or perez or even a new attacking wide player...sissoko with the job of driving things forward through the middle supported by wijnaldum mitrovic aarons perez wijnaldum sissoko abeid
