Yeah that rang a bell with me, I thought around the £200m mark for some reason. I mean you'd think that'd probably do for the next couple of windows
-
btw i seem to recall that it was said if we were ever taken over we'd be in a position to spend big even taking FFP into account because of how Ashley ran the club over the last few years, has it been speculated yet how much that might run to without any changes to sponsorship and such?

Imma throw a wildcard out for Ando's surprise next week - Zidane. A few said the Saudi's want a big name and he's available immediately. Arguably no bigger name.
-
just not martinez, please
-
Yeah just do what manyoo have done official noodle sponsor official tractor provider preferred fedora partner just fuckin rinse it dry
-
Yeah fuck it I'm out. Don't really strongly enough that I'd kick off or protest or whatever depending how it was done but I'm firmly in the no camp having thought about it more. A big part of getting shot of Ashley was to get the club and connection back, don't think the best way to do that is to change the name of the ground.
-
Is this an official thing btw or just some papertalk bollocks?
-
Interesting they all say he stabilised the club to the point they'd get results against poorer teams and they were no longer concerned by that. That's half the battle in this league.
-
seems a bit extreme

Don't think anyone announced until it's too late for them to take charge for the chelsea bloodbath
-
I would imagine if Chelsea had spent £70m on a striker other than Timo Werner Lampard's record might have been very different.
-
seems they're not gonna panic ahead of the international break, which is fair enough really...we've been in a lot of games this season, maybe the lack of Bruce will see us get a minor bounce ahead of a new manager
-
Isn't Lampard considered to have done a very good job when they had the transfer embargo and brought through a number of young academy players to good effect? I wouldn't be jumping to take him first choice but I don't think he's a PFM fuckwit more than likely, probably just didn't have the experience to manage all the players after that mental transfer window they had. Nothing to be ashamed of.
-
probably by making them start at the very bottom, regardless of their playing pedigree, and earning themselves a job
-
Agreed, if there's other ways to do it why bother.
-
To dodge FFP? I mean they can plough their own money into the club without changing any commercial deals but it will be limited.
-
Agreed. I mean Longstaff did well under Rafa with Hayden next to him so there's hope there but it took Rafa almost 3 years to get everyone to the point of the system as a whole working. Incredibly risky if that's indeed what happens.
-
a switch to a possession-based game would be a wild fucking choice at this point mind as someone has said we've spent 2 years ceding possession and lamping it upfield whenever we get it hoping a couple of players can make something happen, it's very hard to see how you switch from that to keeping the ball very easily especially with what we have in midfield if they do go for him you would imagine a ball-playing CM would be a priority in the window, someone who can do what jorginho does or whatever; take it, don't lose it, and keep it moving
-
Yeah I'm not totally convinced, would rather them not do it all obvs, but a classy rename inc. SJP better than the dogs breakfast Llamblias cooked up I suppose. As I say I'd rather they not do it.
-
That's what I was thinking, if they somehow keep SJP in the name it'd be much more palatable to me than a total rename.
