  1. well, you'd like to think that with 4 months to burn they might be able to identify more cost-effective targets
  2. Bit behind the times mate Fair enough So, an £8m player on £50k per week for 5.5 years will eat into the thick end of £21m of this dosh. Wonderful. i think it more likely we'd be making the 8m type of signings who wouldn't command 50k per week - up and comers from smaller clubs who have a lot of talent and might make it big more tiote's if you like
  3. so no chance he might make an exception this case then? say he knows he's gonna spend 20m of the 35m on transfer, why couldn't he just arrange the installments on the outgoing 20m to align with incomings on the 35m? why wouldn't he? in a sense it is "paid for upfront" it's just not coming out of his pocket or another pot of cash from elsewhere just 'cause they said something once doesn't mean it's legally binding
  4. think you can guarantee right now that any player we sign in any position won't be the finished article they'll either be a combination of mentally unstable, full of potential and/or average-shit ability
  5. that's tragic that got me real good man
  6. Not if you factor transfer fees, signing on fees and wages into the equation. that occurred to me, lets say carroll was on 40k a week (which i doubt) we now have to bring in say 4-5 players to cover his loss and build up the squad a bit to make this worthwhile if you bring in 4-5 players with a combined value of 35m on transfer fees alone the wages involved outwith that would probably have to be in excess of 100k a week combined doesn't quite work does it? so effectively we'd be looking at maybe 20m on players and 15m on their wages, or whatever balance you like to guesstimate in other words, we're not gonna get a lot for our 35m in terms of actual bodies on the pitch imho
  7. insane opinion, football is a sport and is heavily driven by market forces in the space of a year carroll went from nothing, to doing well in the championship, to scoring and shining in the premiership (was handed a new deal due to this), to an england cap, market forces then drove his value up to the 8th highest of all time and he was replacing a striker being paid 175,000 a week at liverpool (allegedly) he is an absolute cunt from a fans perspective for going for the money but fuck me man, you can't say he should have asked for more in november as he never knew this shit would come reigning down
  8. aye, "forced" to leave can be taken many ways - to be honest i think in a sense they have very much forced him...he knew what he could get and would probably have been happy to stay in toon if we'd met in the middle, as it is they'll have known that not offering any increase at all would force his hand they get t/fer request that absolves them of blame and also pocket 35m quid to boot well played fat boys

    Alan Pardew

gauntlet thrown down by fat mike and pardew then, if it's bullshit and he didn't request then Carroll can and should fuck them if not and they're telling the truth he did it for the money alone and he can get fucked for me like
  10. piss take answer - pay myself 35m off the loan i owe myself and aim to fuck off back down south 1-2 years earlier than expected serious answer - buy 4-6 players who are rated and young from wherever, hoping we strike it lucky with 50% of them
  11. i hope his legs are fucked or something, and he knows it, both him and club were in cahoots to get 35m for him and he gets 5 years crazy money but can never play back to being a local hero again (when he releases his auto-biog in a decade or so)
  12. Just look at that photo. “Gutted to be leaving but I was kind of pushed out the door” “Just what I’ve just said really. Gutted to be leaving my home club but I was practically told to go." he'll really need to elaborate on this shit for me not to hate him like, only thing that springs to mind that would work is "we'll never increase your wages if you don't take it" and/or "we'll make you rot in the reserves if you don't take it" neither of which seem very plausible really
  13. well, let's see what the next few days press conferences reveal shall we? he's already stated publicly he was "forced out" right? If he handed in a transfer request he hasn't got a leg to stand on as far as I'm concerned. I doubt anyone held a gun to his head and forced him to submit the request. If he didn't then that changes things, naturally, but it'd be insane from Ashley to claim he put in a transfer request if he didn't. Not like people wouldn't find out the truth pretty quickly. on a basic level i agree with you, if you're boiling it right down that far - he requested therefore he's to blame keegan & hughton (iirc) have both stated how disgraceful the club is ran behind closed doors and they've been found in court to be liars and manipulators of every situation going i won't believe Carroll forced this on his own until it comes out of his own mouth He's obviously not going to come out and say he wanted away though is he? It'll be in his interests to say he was forced out, because he knows that there's enough suspicion towards Ashley that a lot of people will side with him. yeah PR works both ways, i know that, it's just that one side of this have been proven in a court of law to be liars and cheats with specific respect to NUFC so right now i'm inclined not to side with them

  15. Wrong I (and suspect many others) will be watching closely how much of that 35M is reinvested back in the team. By the way, I'm curious where do you get the impression that he likes to sell players and that he keeps the money to himself. So far, under him we've had reasonably good transfer windows (summer and January). Players like Coloccini, HBA, Tiote, Enrique (?) were all bought under him and have been very good buys. This is the first time I would say we had a shit trasfer window and even then not so much because Carroll went off but coz we did not get any replacements in. our last january window in the PL was also awesome, i agree...followed closely by relegation

  17. Youd be suprised how many were sold on that going off of yesterday. Many are convinced that we were batting away bids endlessly & the whole not coming out with a statement like "we're not selling carroll today regardless" was a coincidence. David craig even said bollocks like "Mike Ashley is trying very hard to resist", what does that even mean realistically? It means offer more and hes yours. yeah i was reading some of the shite last night, fucking pitiful some of it
