  1. what do you base any of that on dude? Don't really see why Carroll would put in a transfer request otherwise. If that turns out to be a lie and he never requested a transfer then I'll change my view obviously, but I doubt even Ashley and Llmabias are stupid enough to lie about that. more than meets the eye to this imo, with the limited info available to me right now and all of the history of ashley & llamblias at the club it beggars belief that anyone would think Carroll forced this unilaterally while Mike & Derek sat there knocking back 35m and saying "naw Aaaaandy dawn't doooo it, daaawn't go, we're ganna bild da clab arawd ya san" they're behind it somehow
  2. I'd say probably not. Limp to the end of the season now with Sholagoals, Best and Ranger up top then see which players we can unsettle and take cheaply from their clubs come June.
  3. how does the cunt always manage to do shit like this and then have a large number of people saying to themselves: "let's give him to the summer to see how much of the 35m we spend"? it's fucking amazing 7-8 months is a long time and people will forget this quick enough (unless the wheels totally come off now and we go down, which i don't see), when we get to the end of august with some cheap additions and he flogs enrique for 10m to spurs people will be saying "let's see what he does with the money in january"
  4. not sure, assumed the OP to be accurate but what you say sounds more likely
  5. i'd take mutu on a pay as you play deal to the end of the season
  6. realistic targets summer 2011? try and get through the fucker with some decent players left i'd say
  7. They've lost an absolutely world class striker in all this, though. As a neutral, if you'd asked me if I would swap Torres for Carroll plus 15m, I'd have laughed in your face, not a chance, not a chance. Carroll might have lots of promise, but Christ Almighty, the seventh most expensive transfer ever? And losing a striker who'd walk into pretty much any team on the planet as part of the deal? Madness. They've bought Suarez who has done very well in Holland, but there are a lot more Kezmans than there are Bergkamps. Their net investment is also close to zero in all this, Babel + Torres = Carroll + Suarez or alternatively they've ended their over-reliance on one striker who clearly wanted out of the club and replaced him with two strikers that potentially could be scoring a hell of a lot of goals personally i think they've done very, very well out of it - when torres was injured they were always fucked, now at least they've got some viable backup price doesn't matter in this, they're paying for potential in both cases so we'll not know for a while if they did the right thing
  8. this is fucking depressing isn't it? still at least he never went to spurs was thinking about clubs faced with crossroads and how they behave, when faced with ours a couple of seasons ago ashley sold given & milner and we went down with a whimper liverpool have had a fucking shocker this season and have just been faced with something of a crossroads, they've come out of it losing a great (yet unmotivated striker) and replacing him with 2 strikers who should lead their line for the next decade and score a fucking hatful together says it all to me really
  9. defoe and rooney must push bent close off the top of my head too and tevez Happy checking. My checking says that the goal he scored for Villa puts him equal with Rooney since the start of the 05/06 season, thanks to the fact Rooney's only got two during this campaign, so it depends what you mean by "Over the last half decade" and "more goals than". Five years to the day? Last five seasons?
  10. aye, okey dokey mate...let me know when any of your mob do it at the top level better still, don't
  11. you actually said: "he has scored more goals than any other PL player over the past half-decade." not: "has scored more PL goals than any other player over the past half decade"
  12. defoe and rooney must push bent close off the top of my head too and tevez Happy checking. last 5 seasons (all comps, taken from ESPN stats section): taking int goals into account he only really outscores defoe from what i can see, bottom line is totals of course bent defoe rooney ronaldo drogba lampard 13 8 4 13 4 25 29 40 44 34 17 10 24 34 16 21 7 13 18 42 16 17 16 18 24 26 39 23 78 78 110 102 128 99
  13. defoe and rooney must push bent close off the top of my head too and tevez and probably still ronaldo given he got about 40 in one season
  14. defoe and rooney must push bent close off the top of my head too and tevez
  15. sacked Hughton again They'll sell. It's too high a price to ignore. nah, fat mike's gonna come good - wants to get back in the stands drinking pints by the start of next season
