  1. I'm pretty sure that, long term, Edgar is a better bet than Taylor. I'd keep him in.

I'm pretty sure that, bearing in mind he has less than 10 appearances for the first team (including as a substitute!!), its far too early for you to be thinking that.  He did OK today.

Agreed. Not sure how anyone can come to that conclusion yet. That was his third start today.

fair enough, but he had an element of confidence about him that I find lacking with Taylor, but, as you say, it's still early days for the lad.

  2. The early leavers piss me right off, it takes the edge off the game seeing them all swarm out, and I hate having to keep standing up for the bastards, blocking my view while they stand waiting for their shyster mates.

I left after the final whistle and was in Fitzgeralds with a pint of Workie Ticket in hand at 5.05pm, whats up with that eh?

  3. is it possible they've been there long enough to be classed as north london (i don't know how long arsenal have been in north london but their first game at highbury was in 1913.....i think they can  class themselves as north london by now.)

Well I think that's the point, isn't it? as far as Tottenham are concerned they are not from that area originally, how many years being irrelevant.  That gives the rivalry a slightly different edge.  Now afaic, I'm not too bothered either way, but the spurs fans that I know like to point this fact out, hence my comment earlier.

  4. Very confusing your London tribal things. Why do West Ham see you as the "enemy", I think Chelsea feel the same.

Your natural rivals in north London are Arsenal, so why do the pride of east and west London also hate you so much ?

Arsenal are not 'naturally' from North London, they are from Woolwich, South London.

WHU's bitterest rivals are Leyton Orient ;)

Yeah, like we're not really Newcastle United but Newcastle East End and Newcastle West End.

So that makes us Newcastle ....United....

Arsenal are from a different part of London, there is nothing in north London to connect them there, and no team from north London merged with them.

how long have arsenal been in north london then ?

how long? I couldn't give a shit.  I know a few yiddo's who do though.

  7. Are we going to have this fuss everytime Keegan makes a decision some don't agree with? I wouldn't have taken Oba off but why the fuss over such a nothing point?

I think it's been an interesting discussion and there have been some good ideas both for and against taking Oba out in both this thread and the game thread.  In a relegation battle KK's gonna keep his cards close to his vest so any insight we can get into his thinking is important, imo.  It's quite possible that KK killed a few birds with one stone:  he showed confidence in Owen and Viduka, lit a fire under Oba and showed confidence in Zogs by putting him in during a critical part of the game.  He was also successful in making a tactical change during a critical part of the game and having it work as well as can be expected.   Win, win, win all around I'd say.  Hopefully he can build on it for Saturday.

    I like your thinking.

  8. That'll do. Taking Martins off was frustrating, but this was a crucial, crucial point. I wasn't watching it, but if we were pushing too much and then leaving ourselves open to attack, it could have been quite dangerous, and potentially disastrous. Containment when you're ten games into the season and up against the Mackems is a bit of a disgrace; but in this situation, it's probably sensible.

    Keeps him fresh n'all.

Can't wait for Saturday. Well done boys, hard fought point.

We had them pegged back and bumming them in the face. They were completely out of it by that point.

Ah right, well like i say, i didn't watch it. But i mean still, regardless of how close we're getting, we're missing stacks of chances nowadays and conceding a lot and in the blink of an eye. I didn't have to see the game to think that move was a sensible one (i was listening, though); the game died and we confirmed what was a valuable point.

Winning is also key to avoiding relegation. Playing it safe and settling for points with our defence will be the death of us.

We managed to stop a team that are also in the mire picking up an extra 2 points, that in itself could be crucial at the end of the season.

Paying through the nose to sit (and stand) through a mind-bogglingly mediocre campaign doesn't leave one well-disposed to sympathising with the people appointed to carry your hopes and dreams, who week after week do a good impression of rubbing your face in the muck. And knowing that the rest of the league barring one team are utterly bloody ordinary just makes it worse.

Bobby may wail about bleeding black and white and pin on his toon army medals, but he was many, many miles away when we suffered in near-silence the tribulations of the Dalglish and Gullit eras. It's a mite unfair, but those on the field on Sunday bore the brunt of successive failed administrations and countless regrettable signings in recent decades.

Thanks for trying Bobby, but it's defeated you, like all the rest. We've cheered you, we've supported you and now we just plain don't believe you anymore. And neither do the players. We got close, we've almost failed. Again.

In their report on the wolves game under SBR.

They spent the remaining part of SBR' managership sniping at him and generally leading the cheerleading to get him out.

Nice one lads I hope your happy with the last 5 years but lay off the hypocrisy of other fans expressing their views eh?

    POT KETTLE BLACK.

    Shameful.

    Shameful?

    Truthful

  10.

So you're playing the hope card now? you were waving the doubt one around before.

I don't understand. I have been stating again and again that Keegan didn't show any tactical ability so far, and given his failure in last window and the poor result this season, the chance he also fail the summer transfer window is relatively high, and that's a critical hit towards his appointment. Things aren't looking good, just that.

Yeah, and maybe we stay up, Keegan buys some quality players in the summer, and we go at it toe to fucking toe next season, playing some blinding fucking football, how about that?

  11. I honestly didn't believe all the crap about how stupid and impatient some of our fans were.  I thought everyone could see that Keegans first several games, overall, were an impossible job.  I thought that people would write those games off and give him a chance.  I just can't believe some of the s*** I'm reading, and hearing from some of the so called fans of this club, impatient, unrealistic, petulant idiots.

    spot on mate.

  12. How the f*** would I know? i'm not bloody Jonathan Cainer man.

So tell me what's wrong to point out that the hope under Keegan's reign just lie on the coming summer?

So you're playing the hope card now? you were waving the doubt one around before.

  13. Louise Taylor

    Allow me to ignore.

She talks some utter drivel, but it's difficult to disagree with what she's said in that one. Most of us are saying the same things about the individuals she pinpointed.

a sliver of truth matters not in her case, she has an agenda.

  14. do you not think that Kev may be compromised somewhat by the shower of s**** he inherited?

Talented managers can make s*** looks like a stone. Simply as that. Keegan isn't that type of manager, but one who relies strongly on stars and squad strength.

Keegan can bring us success, I am not discounting him that much, but it is only possible if he can spend something like 50m this summer and really persuade some stars to come. But last transfer window did shows that good players didn't want to come here. Yes you could give him the benefit of the doubt for the lack of time but that does cast doubt towards his forthcoming summer signings right?

How the fuck would I know? i'm not bloody Jonathan Cainer man.

  15. Agreed. Give our Kev a chance you moaners and f*** off.

Of course he would be given the chance. I couldn't see him being sacked for the next 2 seasons unless we relegated this year. Ashley will be fully responsible for the mess if he really sacked Kev before the end of 2009.

Just that I'm really, really not impressed by what he did so far. His lack of tactical knowledge is really worrying and the only hope we have is he can spend big money this summer to overturn it. But honestly if Kev can only make us marginally survive this season, there is really a chance that Ashley eating back his words and didn't support Kev like what he promised before.

do you not think that Kev may be compromised somewhat by the shower of shite he inherited?
