  1. Newcastle is afterall an English club. Although Football is a global language and the game has globalised but I think if we want to preserve at least some dignity in English Football, we should at least have a few English players as backbone in the squad. Examples will be: Chelsea - John Terry Liverpool - Jamie Carragher Manchester City - Richard Dunne / Micah Richards I don't really support english players because they are often over-rated. Other nationalities seem to perform better in all other positions however I think England is still able to produce decent defenders. That is one of the area where England is strong in. Therefore, nurturing Steven Taylor and making him into the backbone of the squad is important. Steven Taylor can be our very own John Terry for Chelsea, Jamie Carragher for Liverpool, Tony Adams/Sol Campbell for Arsenal in the past. Furthermore, we do need a certain number of english players in the squad to be able to qualify for certain tournament if I'm not wrong and it is always good to have a few core ones. Regards, Ericz

    Today's matches.

Liverpool set-plays and passing are nice to watch tonight. Aston Villa looks humbled, playing with plenty of high ball. Regards, Ericz
  3. I dunno... lately regional national teams have been pretty disappointing... England, Scotland, Wales etc have not been at the top of the game. Hence, I don't really rate Scottish players highly. As for SWP, I can't help feeling he's abit inconsistent at times. The only English player I would consider outside the top 4 is maybe only Micah Richards. I would really prefer some french flair or portuguese or maybe even brazilian/argentinian flair, mazy ball-dribbling techniques. However, Keegan did say that he want someone who's proven in the Premiership. Mmmm... *pondering* Regards, Ericz
  4. Who wants to sell their good players in january. Would you sell Beye if Spurs came in with a big bid? And be stuck with Carr for 6 months. Would you f***. Im sure you can think of a bajillion other examples. You can only get players who someone wants to sell. Which usually means they are s****. And whats the point in that. What about Anelka? Was he s***? You can buy players in January. Just unsettle them first, so they get itchy feet I don't think Bolton had alot of choices (1) Chelsea is more attractive for Anelka - Champions League Team, Top of the Premiership, Possibilities of trophies, $$$ (2) Bolton ain't exactly a very rich club Even if they compel Anelka to stay, would there not be displeasure? A lot boils down to the player, then whether is the club financially sound? Regards Ericz
  5. I will make some wild guesses: (1) Didier Drogba (2) Mikel Arteta (3) Micah Richards Like I said, wild guesses. Regards. Ericz
  6. Well said! Shola tried today Ditto... Shola gave us some positive performances today. He will get better as he plays more, I'm sure. He did some nice passing today too Be optimistic Regards, Ericz
  7. For me, I don't think they need to sign up any players at the moment or rather I can't think of who they need to sign up. While it is true that they did not play one-touch football or free flowing football, did not score today and their opponent was Bolton, however, I am mindful that Keegan had just 3 days with the players, the players need to get acquainted to each other and Keegan's style football. Unless there is a player that can wow all of us or is a potential prospect, otherwise, I'm against signing any players. Although money might be of no problem to Ashley, I still think being prudent goes a long way. I rather we save the money and put it to better use in the future (i.e. sign better players, more benefits or events for the fans etc). I'm sure in Ashley's mind, there's a cap to how much he will spend too. Let's wait and see and as many has said, there's plenty of optimism today. For better days ahead ^^ Regards, Ericz.
  8. My sentiments are the same. I thought Carr had a pretty good game too. Also, he was at alot of position at the right time when we are attacking. Yup, Zog was brilliant. Regards, Ericz
  9. As a matter of fact, I can't think of anybody concrete that we need to buy right now. From the performances itself, we need (1) A striker that can head - I'm hoping Viduka's return will solve just that. (2) A CM that dares to take shot outside the box. Of course, with a degree of accuracy too - Maybe Barton or Emre? Regards, Ericz
  10. I take optimism for today's second half. I think the attacking football is something we have missed for a while. It's a pity there is no goal but the attacking intent, the pressure, the possession, the speed of attacking was nice. The future will be better I think we lose out on alot of headers. Unfortunately, Owen was pretty quiet for the match. Ameobi wasn't that bad. But I don't think any players was particularly awlful honestly. The team will take time to gel, that I'm sure. Enrique is very promising ^^ Regards, Ericz
  11. Bolton seems to be stalling for time... Arggghhhh... Regards, Ericz
  12. Disagree. Much better 2nd half. The second half reminds me of why I supported Newcastle in the first place! Attacking Football! Like I said just now, it's just Keegan's 3rd day and 1st game in-charge. The 2nd half feels very positive. Great performance from Enrique, Milner. N'Zogbia, Carr and some others too I feel. Crosses could be better, finding the net could be better but I'm not complaining. Our possession was wonderful. Our speed of attacking was wonderful too. We are back to old times it seems We just need a goal now. I'm optimistic. Regards, Ericz
  13. Yup, I counted was counting the number of men in Bolton's half too. It was 11! I bet if we manage to score one, there will be a flood of goals going in... Now we just need someone in the middle to put it in. Regards, Ericz
  14. I love it when we are raiding their flanks. Now, we just need someone to put them in. Mmmmm maybe when Viduka is back, he can do just that ^^ I remember he was a class act in Leeds and Middlesborough. Regards, Ericz.
  15. We are definitely showing more attacking intent this half and that can only be good for the long term Keegan has only been here for just 3 days ^^ Regards. Ericz
  16. 2-0 is still very possible if they get their act together. Let's be optimistic Regards, Ericz

    Thank you Ruud Gullit

I don't really like his negativity but honestly, sometimes some of the expectations are pretty unreasonable I must admit. Then again, it's also being called pragmatic I guess. In any case, being humble goes a long way too, Regards, Ericz
  18. Unfortunately, I doubt SWP will leave Chelsea at this point in time. Why? (1) Abramovich certainly have the financial muscle to keep him there and (2) SWP is doing well at the moment. Regards, Ericz
  19. Mmmmm Out of curiosity, I wonder can Zoggy or Duff turns out to be our Ginola? Any chance? Regards, Ericz
  20. You mean me? I got used to it. It's a SOP in my everyday's life, be it at school or at work or when I'm sending my friends stuffs. It doesn't bother at all --> immune Regards, Ericz
  21. Diarra = Portsmouth. Arggghhh We missed a really good future prospect 8x Regards, Ericz Why would ribery want to move from Bayern after only being there a half year and being quite succesful afaik. Agreed. Sigh... I still hope we give it a try heh He might just be the next ginola ^^ Regards, Ericz
  22. Diarra = Portsmouth. Arggghhh We missed a really good future prospect 8x Regards, Ericz
  23. I would like to see: Franck Ribéry - hopes he dribbles lots here too hehe Samir Nasri - young talent Lassana Diarra - relatively young too + talented imo Regards, Ericz

    Outsiders

How about Vicente del Bosque? I remember him from his Real Madrid days but I don't really know what his style of football is like. ~Rgds, Ericz
