yes it can if you have the sense to ask. if i boo him will it have a........ a) positive effect on my team or b) a negative effect on my team Booing is an indication of the fans' intentions. You mean the fans cannot let the feelings be known even if it is reasonable? If the team knows that the boos are directed at Alan Smith (I believe the team knows), would it have a negative effect still? I believe not. Like I said, booing in a reasonable and appropriate situation does help to encourage a person and a team. A person or a team with the correct mentality and attitude knows if they do reasonably badly, after hearing those boos, he/they ought to pull up their socks and work harder to prove otherwise. To sulk in a corner and be beaten by boos... that shows the mentality of the person/team. And please don't treat the players or team like kids or keep them sheltered in a wonderland story... the world is not that nice to begin with... Either face it and live with it or die there alone. Yes, indirectly, it may aid in getting Alan Smith to leave and be a player who does not serve his intended purposes.

thats a bit like saying don't try and put the opposition off or support your own team as they are grown ups and it won't matter Well, if you read my posts, I've reiterate many times... Smith doesn't get boo based on one mere performance alone. He gets booed because of a series of performance he has put in. Based on your line of thought, we should try and support our own team even though they are severely under-performing (i.e. getting relegated to Division 2 after 3 seasons) and yet they are still being paid hideous amount of renumeration, at the same time, not delivering the appropriate but causes the team to repeatably lose? Is that what you really mean? Of course, initially, we should give him encouragement (I believe we did) but after some time, if the encouragement does not work, why not try the stick method? If it still doesn't, is he worth keeping still since he has outlived or has never serve his intended purpose? By the way, respect is earned. In fact, I think Smith is the only one in this unique situation at the moment. He is terrible to watch and has done nothing to prove us otherwise.

at some point you would boo the entire team then when they take to the pitch. I have stated it before and I would like to reiterate my point: To be fair, people booed Smith not based on one mere performance alone. It is over a series of matches and let us not forget that he is the chief culprit which led to many losses for us... Also, is it a coincidence that when he is not playing, we happen to be able to score and win the match? In any case, most of us will rather err on the side of caution and say yes, Smith is the weakest link. Booing the entire team... why not if they severely falls behind reasonable expectation? i.e. Would you not booed at them if Newcastle United gets relegated to Division 2 in 3 seasons? For the hideous amount of renumeration they get, they should be entirely prepared to endure all that and take it in the proper stride. Besides, I have said it again and again... it's a harsh world out there... Footballers are not stupid people... Are they willing to accept lower renumeration in return for not getting booed? The answer is no. At the end of the day, pragmatic approach deserves pragmatic treatment in return. They are paid high renumeration (from whose money?), so they just got to live with it and move on.

The incompetence deserves to be booed, criticised etc... It's a fact of life whether one can accept it or not. For those who does not, they are just lucky that they have met some nice people. It's a harsh world out there, not like a bed of roses for children or youths out there in school or being sheltered in the comfort of a happy family. Bottom-line: Don't be an incompetence or make sure someone is always more incompetent than you (Blunt, harsh but true!) Another advice: Getting booed or not... Don't let it get to you... It should be an encouragement to do even better, to prove others wrong! Letting the boos get to you, doing nothing does not help at all. The saying that time waits for no man doesn't help either. Wow you're really full of s***. Good job. Thank you. In all honesty, it is really a harsh world out there. I am merely offering another perspective, a very crude and harsh one at that. If people scolds me, boos me, looks down on me... waiting for encouragement, thinking that I've done my best, thinking they should not do this or do that does not help at all, looking for excuses etc... Ultimately, I'm the only one who can stand up on my own. Exactly ! And to be fair, people booed him not based on one mere performance alone. It is over a series of matches and let us not forget that he is the chief culprit which led to many losses for us... Exactly ! In fact, 100% effort but 10% work done? or 10% effort but 100% work done? To be very honest, the end result is important, not so much the process (or the so-called effort). The performance he puts in on a series of occasions simply does not justify the wage he commands. It is a huge renumeration without results. Of course, looking from another angle, who would be so stupid to ask for a wage-cut or leave the club? That is a pragmatic view of most, & perhaps Alan Smith too. By the same pragmatic view, fans are entitled to boo him and jeer him as well. Morality approach deserves morality approach in return, pragmatic approach deserves pragmatic approach in return. I believe this is fair play in the world today.

By the same length, we cannot scold someone who has failed his/her exams even though he/she has done his/her best? Or was it not his/her best? Besides, how did you know that Smith gave it his all on the pitch? What about off the pitch? What about his mentality? Yeah you can't, if they do their best what more can be done? Smith actually tried to get tackles in, moved around the pitch trying to win the ball etc. I've never heard of him being any trouble off the pitch while at Newcastle (however i'm not saying he's been an angel). Then that is not their best then. They do not serve their intended purpose. You've never heard of him being any trouble off the pitch while at Newcastle doesn't mean he indeed does not have any trouble, am I not right to say that? Who else but himself will know of his real attitude towards football and the club? If he does not like boo or scolding, then he should seek to use it as a motivation to prove others wrong. That is a strong character. Succumbing to booing and scolding indicates a weak mind.

One match may be an accident, two matches may be a coincidence but over a period of matches? On the flipped side of the coin, is a player who has given his all but is the chief culprit who caused us to lose and without him in the squad, we happened to be able to score and win... entirely blameless?

From another perspective, the aged-old quantity vs. quality argument resurfaced in another light. Is mere effort by putting 100% sufficient or is quality sufficient regardless of whether the effort is 100%? Perhaps, for most of us, it is getting a win, getting a goal, not leading to a deficit and eventually not being the main culprit who caused us to lose a game that matters, regardless of whether 100% effort is put in. Or rather yet in another harsh perspective or cruel reality, players are merely tools to an end. What serves the purpose, is a good tool. Otherwise, it is a non-efficient tool no matter how much effort he puts in. - Cruel yes, but in this pragmatic world, this is reality in the crude sense.

Let's try... I am 15, isn't it? but I am on this thing but just don't think because I have made a girly, rhythm based musical intro to my page that I am not on this thing because that ain't the case but I try (to) stay out of as much trouble as I can because good boys live, rude boys die, that (is) the saying I always grew up with but yes, skip that. (I) am trying to take football seriously because I want to make some peace f**k the street thing it is really long for me might shut it off now and again you see it but yeah if you want to know where I play, it is upfront dirty striker. (I get) about 4 goals a game (at the) minimum (and) maximum (of) 7 or 8 of them but my weakness is most definitely girls and my second weakness is losing. I flipping hate losing but I hardly lose at anything because I am a big [move]BUMBACLART[/move] man but yeah I am going (to) update this sh*t when I get the hang of it but you ain't hear the last of me. go away horses for now. Laughing Laughing. xxx - waiting for some awesome individual to help in filling in the missing word As a South London based Magpie, I feel obliged to at least try to translate this - our streets our littered with these fine folk to whom mobile phones are like a ring to gollum. "I am 15 years of age, but please, trust me, because I really am on this (I think this is South London for "I know what I'm doing"/"This is what I want to do"/"I want to succeed"/"I'm a t*** on pills"). Just because I have a strange introduction, don't think I'm not on this, because it quite simply isn't the case, and I do try to stay out of trouble as much as possible - good boys live and rude boys die, don't you know. That's the saying I grew up with - but skip that! I'm trying to take my football as seriously as possible. I want to make some peace, forget that street nonsense, although I might show it off now and again (for my bredren, evidently). Anyway, if you want to know where I play, it's up front - I'm a lethal striker. I get a minimum of 4 goals a game and maximum of 7 or 8. My biggest weakness is girls (mannnssss got get sum pussy innit) and my second is losing. I hate losing, but it's not a problem, because it so rarely happens because I'm a (I'm at a total loss as to bumbaclart duppy mannnn, sorry - I'll take a stab and say amazingly talented and handsome individual)! I shall update my page when I get the hang of it. Don't think you've heard the last of me! There's a reason they called me Captain Streetwise at school. In all seriousness, what an absolute cretin. That was an awesome translation there ! Thanks.

Jokes aside, I fail to see how this language is cool x.x I wasn't even like that when I was at his age, nor was I like that when I was younger x.x Indeed... it's depressing. A genuine question, are all Brits youths turning into that these days?
  12. I wonder if Valeri Bojinov or Daniel Sturridge, would be a good signing for us to replace the potentially departing Smith... since Citeh is rumored to be selling off Corluka... Then on the other hand, I think a creative midfield is probably the most important for us at the moment.

You can't be serious !@!@!@! You're going to sell Newcastle's best player who can play DM, CM, RM, AM, RW, CF, F (maybe even RB, CB & GK too) ! You've got to be thankful to Alan Smith because without Smith in those games before we started our winning ways... the games would be so boring without Smith's adrenaline rush on you ! He's definitely better than a block of wood ! Because a block of wood won't give you the adrenaline rush he gave you when he's on : P

I can see how people simply loves conspiracy theories hahahaha On hindsight... Smith is REMARKABLE ( 1 ) Proven Striker @ EPL Level - Remember his time at Leeds, he's a goal-scoring machine !@!@!@ ( 2 ) Multi-talented - He can play DM, CM, AM, RM, Winger, Foward, Target Man.. meh... I've no doubt that he can play RB, CB & maybe even GK !@!@!@! ( 3 ) His Godly workrate... ! - You see him everywhere on the pitch running here & there from defense to offense & back to defense again ! ( 4 ) His ultimate defensive qualities - Everytime anybody is near our goal, he will hack them down and foul them to stop the play! Based on the above 4 qualities, he's a rare gem !@!@! Only 60k a week for such qualities ! Even Sir Alex Ferguson and Roy Keane are full of praises for him ! Almost forgot ... He's a ENGLAND NATIONAL !@!@!@! & played @ the highest level in the Champions League & won the EPL league too ! Seriously.. where can you find a better guy like Alan Smith?

Read about Everton fans' admiration of Smith : P I think he will be happier there than here to be honest. And yes, I can feel that he will score one against us. It's pretty simple. In short, NE5 portrayed himself as a 'paying customer'. However, I beg to differ. He should be a 'voluntarily willed supporter' instead. No one force or coerce him to support Newcastle United or pay for Newcastle United merchandise or tickets. It is all based on his own free will. Even if he is indeed a paying customer, legally, the law of contract (offer, acceptance, consideration) states that NE5's money has bought him either the merchandise, or the opportunity to watch a match. From that, again legally, the contract is already considered legally fulfilled. Newcastle United does not own NE5 any other obligation and NE5 either got an opportunity to watch a match or obtain his rightful share of merchandise. Again, it is all up to NE5's own free will. Nobody can force him or coerce him if he did not want to do so. Like I aforementioned, NE5 did mention that winning trophies is the way to separate victors from losers, effective management from non-effective management. That is indeed a realistic and pragmatic point of view. However, by the same realistic and pragmatic point of view, football is now a business today. It is very much the truth regardless how much people are being deluded or continue to live in their fantasize world. NE5's contribution over the years, dare I put forth to NE5 bluntly, is insignificant compared to the wages and transfer fees of the players. Again, Newcastle United, realistically and legally speaking, has no obligations towards NE5 at all. Also, NE5 is not the one paying for the exorbitant wages and transfer fees of the players. NE5 of course may argue that collectively, the supporters are paying for the exorbitant wages and transfer fees, however, it can be argued in two ways: ( 1 ) Is NE5's intention common with the rest of the supporters? ( 2 ) Legally, there is no legally binding contract that Newcastle United must obtain trophies. Also, NE5's contract has been legally fulfilled when NE5 paid for the merchandise/season ticket and in return he obtained the merchandise and season ticket. The same goes for the other supporters. Well, of course, I do understand that NE5 and his supporters will say that Newcastle United owns them a moral obligation and also, it is the responsibility of a football club to repay the faithful fans' faith over the years. However it is merely a moral obligation that one can put it, is not legally binding in today's world. Perhaps, there may be repercussions, perhaps there may not be. What I offer is another perspective. It may be sad. However, it is the world we live in today, a capitalist market. Additionally, the law is definitely not about morality.

I hope NE5 goes straight to bed when he gets in from the pub tonight. NE5 should try to consider other people's idea's, not just his NE5 knows best, and NE5 says that following this policy [ie competing at the level of the mediocre clubs] will lead us to be further behind the top clubs. Unfortunately, NE5 is not paying their exorbitant transfer fees and their wages. as a paying customer, I am. And have been since 1964 I remember NE5 once spoke about the world being realistic and trophies are the only ones that separate the victors from the losers and that is all that matters or something along the line... Back to the 'as a paying customer, I am. And have been since 1964'... big deal? There are many others who are like that too. Bluntly put, you have a choice, you are not being forced or anything. It is by your own voluntary free will. I would categorize it not as a 'paying customer' but as a 'freely willed voluntary supporter'. Besides, being pragmatic and realistic, you would have realize that it is the football industry/business now you that you are talking about... Also, even as a paying customer, contractually, you pay for your t-shirt, you pay to watch a match... you don't pay to contractually get them to win a trophy etc. In any case, the paying customer theory in realistic terms, or more important in legal terms, it is already satisfied and they really don't own you anything. Besides, how much can your financial support over the years be compared to the players' wages or even transfer fees? What faction of them? Ultimately, you aren't the one putting in all the cash hence you probably won't feel the pinch or won't feel the pinch that much. It's easier said than done really when you aren't the one dealing with the huge amount of wages and transfer fees.

  23. But it'd be a worlwide signing, would it be that hard to envisage 2 millions people worlwide have a nufc ronaldihno shirt? Assuming the average price is about £25. That a real crude calculation but the theory is there, not to mention the benefits that we couldnt measure such as press, and advertisements. Even if shirst sales brought in a fraction of the transfer outlay you can effectivley wipe that off the price of the tranfer and that;d be how much we were paying, which would be a simlar outlay to someone like Turan. So if we were to take £20m shirt sales wourlwide, that would leave us with a player costing us £30m in transfer fees and wages for about 4/5 years. Bare in mind Owen has cost us approx £50m for the equivalent 5 years, and i dont think it'd be as bad as people are making out. Not sure if any of that makes sense. That is assuming that those 2 millions people worldwide are not existing purchasers of Newcastle United FC shirt annually, in other words, they are fresh purchasers and we are tapping into an untapped market. On the contrary, fans who bought Ronaldinho's Newcastle United FC shirt will not purchase shirts of other Newcastle players because they are substitute goods. Will you buy a second or third Newcastle United FC shirt if you already possessed one this season (which originally they would in the event that Ronaldinho does not sign for Newcastle United FC)? A large majority will not. Confusing? The essence is tapping into untapped markets and not existing tapped markets.
  24. Honestly, I feel we shouldn't buy English players as much as possible. English players are way too over-rated. It can be observed on the world stage in International Tournaments, like the World Cup, European Cup, Champions League etc etc. Foreign players are much cheaper and talented in technical abilities. The only qualms is whether their physique is suitable for playing in the English Premier League. However, we should definitely groom more talented youth English players either for sale of big profits or use them for our own.
  25. fuk me, do i need to upload fotos? or show u his name on my leavers shirt wiv a message frm him? Haven't you said before you are a solicitor or you are studying law? I wuldnt want u reprezenting me if u r. hahahaha I felt inclined to defend him : ) Solicitors, lawyers and law students are also human beings. It's just another profession from our point of view. When we are too formal or serious in our casual day to day life (i.e. speaking to friends, posting on forums, smsing, msning etc), some people will complain that we are being too serious. On the contrary, when we try to blend in with the crowd and be casual, informal, some people will react like what you just did : ) It's really difficult to satisfy everybody. However, what we do know is work is work. End of the day, as long as we get our work professionally done, that is all that matters : ) With regard to Evans, I've watched him played a few times and I think he has potential in him. It all depends on the transfer fee demanded I guess.
