Tierney would be ideal. He’s 4th or 5th choice at Arsenal and unlikely to make their 25 man squad. Zinchenko, Timber, Tomiyasu and Kiwior all ahead of him apparently. My Arsenal supporting mate absolutely raves about him, reckons he’s better than all of the above as an out and out LB but says Arteta prefers the others because they’re more flexible. Reckon a loan with an obligation of he plays 20-25 games would be a good deal. Can see us going big on a RCB and a RW next summer then.

Tbf I think either a RCB or a LB would improve us significantly, so I’d be happy with either. Caulkin seems adamant it’s a LB but Mope reckons it’s a RCB. I reckon we’ll probably have the feelers out on a few players in each position and come the back end of next week we’ll assess our options. There’s no real urgency this week because any new signing would be unlikely to play v Man City anyway.

Noticed there were a few new signs up at SJP this weekend that said “our home since 1892”. Basically my view is they need to explore each and every potential option to expand and stay at SJP. I’ll be staggered if it’s not possible to extend it in some way up to c65k-70k. It’s just going to cost shit loads. But if they’re true to their word that we’re staying at SJP then it’s a cost they’ll just have to accept. If after everything it’s just not possible, then Leazes Park is the only acceptable option for me.

We did that last year by accruing their costs as onerous contracts. If we manage to get them off the books before the end of their contract then the accrual will reverse so we’d see an in year benefit to net off the accrual.

I’ve been to pretty much every game since the takeover too. I imagined that there would have been some look at prior purchase history when it came to this season. Frustrating that come the Liverpool game I’ve got just as much of a chance of a ticket as a scouser who wakes up on the morning of the ballot and decides it’s worth a £37 punt for a 1 in 3 chance of a ticket.
